Seraphic - Biography
Biography
After her short but memorable tenure as frontwoman in symphonic metal band Alpine Fault came to an end, Sam Wolstenholme decided she would not stop there. Instead, in early 2014, she began forming an entirely new symphonic metal-inspired band - Seraphic. Early on in the piece, Sam was lucky enough to find Erwin Febrianto, ex-Rising Force and power metal shredder-extraordinaire, who joined the band as lead guitarist. Michael Bates joined soon after as smooth-sailing bassist and Dylan Thurecht on drums. Building upon Sam's acoustic piano/vocal pieces, each member of the band contributed their own parts to each song to create a melodic, epic, yet entirely unique kind of metal.
In early 2015, Seraphic made their bold debut with two professional demo tracks, and audiences took notice of their energetic performances and memorable melodies at their first few live gigs, and 2016 saw Seraphic solidify their lineup to the five-piece powerhouse it is today, with the addition of classically trained Daniel Langdon on drums and Raouf Araji, ex-Dark Symphonica, on rhythm guitars. Their lineup now complete, Seraphic were ready to conquer their first major milestone of supporting American progressive metal legends Queensryche for the Brisbane leg of their recent Australian tour, a performance that was highly praised. Not long afterwards, the band wowed audiences with a special acoustic set in support of Wednesday 13 for the Brisbane show of his recent Undead Unplugged Down Under Tour in March 2017.
2017 saw Seraphic release their debut album "Journey to Illumination" to rave reviews, followed by a hugely successful album launch show at New Globe Theatre in June 2017. The band rounded out this momentous year with various high-profile Brisbane shows such as co-headlining Ye Gods of Metal Festival and Darkcell's inaugural Psycho Circus Brisbane, and most notably, through embarking on their highly successful debut East Coast Australian tour in November.
2018 was a turning point for Seraphic, kicking off the year by supporting legendary thrash metal titans Overkill for the Brisbane show of their Australian tour in March. Now a staple of Brisbane's metal scene, this was followed by the highly successful release of their powerful new single "The Monster Within" and live appearances at Halloween Hysteria and the incomparable Kamelot's recent Brisbane show as local support.
After a killer set at the Progfest 2019 Brisbane show, it is clear that Seraphic are now poised to spread their wings, take flight and show the metal world what they're made of.
