Biography

Sepultura with chanting angels?''Wackmobil, based in Hilversum the Netherlands, formed in 2000. Following a period of intense band member searching the band takes their first serious steps in late 2002 as the styles of the members melt down to form a coherent whole. The fundament of Wackmobil's genre can be described as nu-metal yet other styles play a dominant role. Their heavy yet melodic music enriched with clean, emotional vocals is very distinctive. In the past the band has been decribed as: "Sepultura with chanting angels" referring to the diversity of both the music and vocals.Guitarists Stefan and Erik, bassist Tim, drummer Colin Powell and vocalist Ruben are working hard to perform as much as possible when and where ever. These aspirations have resulted in performances in venues like Tivoli, P60, Tagrijn, Ekko and Tivoli "de Helling". The band competes through out the Netherlands in band-battles and wins awards both via selection of jury as well as audience awards. In doing so Wackmobil wins a spot in the line-up of the Diesel-U-Music Festival held in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam and become selected to compete in one of Utrecht's most renowned band competitions, again taking home the audience award. When the band is not performing new material is constantly worked on and different approaches towards the music are reached. The band raises its standards of originality and diversity with every new song. In april of 2003 Wackmobil's first demo entitled Phimosis is released. The songs are recorded and produced by Daan van der Elsken (Junkie XL, Agresion) in Studio Stilteloos in Amsterdam. Phimosis consists of three songs and is embraced by fans and the media. Live XS Magazine: 'Especially the first track (Asphalt and Gasoline) breaks out and bursts with dark energy. With enormous dynamics the band swings between hard/rhythm orientated parts and mischievous melodies?" In February of 2004 Creviced is recorded, again in Studio Stilteloos.
