Biography

Curse The Son began in 2008 as a “studio project” for founding member Ron Vanacore, based on his desire to make uncompromising, crushingly heavy stoner-doom metal. Soon after, the lineup was solidified and their first record ‘Klonopain’ was released in 2011. Gathering an underground buzz already, the band saw their popularity explode with their next self-released effort 'Psychache' in 2012.

In 2017, the band signed to Ripple Music and The Company for the release of their 3rd album 'Isolator'. As the band continued to grow, the release of 'Isolator' was another huge step forward as the band was now rather well known world-wide. Wanting to up the ante, Curse The Son began a long-time relationship with producer Eric Lichter and Dirt Floor Recordings. Within a one-year span, 'Isolator' was the only record to be ranked twice at #1 on the Doom Charts.

2018 and 2019 were difficult and painful years for the band with then bassist Brendan Keefe suffering multiple serious injuries in a motorcycle accident. The sadness, pain, frustration, and anger were evident on the band’s next record 'Excruciation'. Released in June 2020 on Ripple Music during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, the album was a perfect match for the mood and emotions of everyone at the time. 'Excruciation' landed #12 on the Doom Charts 2020 ranked end-of-year list, out of over 1,500 releases.

Curse The Son has had the pleasure and privilege to share the stage with some of the best in the scene including: Kyuss Lives! The Sword, The Obsessed, The Skull, Black Cobra, Black Pyramid, Windhand, Weedeater, and Come To Grief.
