Biography

The history of Divinitus began in June 2006, when Victorino Perez (keyboards) and Jaime Ponce (guitar) had the common goal of putting together a Progressive Metal band with contemporary rhythmic, melodic and harmonic elements, as well as great instrumental and spiritual technical level. Previously, Victorino, Jaime and Ahijado played together in a Hard Rock band called Chromatik that got disbanded due to lack of compositional and interpretative progress. Victorino and Jaime then wanted a higher and more aggressive contemporary composition level; they had a great commitment for music and Divinitus. The first composition made by Victorino was "Summoning Accursed Gods in the Grave of Agony", with an intention to fuse Progressive Metal with infernal guttural and melodic voices, including advanced musical elements and taking interpretative capacities to the limit. When the first song was finished Jaime got identified with the intention of the band. This is how they began to work together; Victorino was in charge of the Keyboards, musical composition and arrangements and Jaime of all the Guitars and lyrics. They worked for 6 months until they had enough repertoire to be able to choose the best songs and start recording an EP: at that time without singer, bass player or drummer. At this point the drums and the bass were programmed by Victorino. Their faith and great determination were their strengths to leave behind all those adversities. They started recording at Insonic Music Lab the 4 songs that were to be included in their first EP: Summoning Accursed God in the Grave of Agony, Celestial War, Infernal Blood and Arising From The Ashes. After recording all the instruments, Victorino and Jaime realized they needed a singer to fulfill the requirements of a high level musical work. It was then during a Sunday morning when Victorino and Jaime defined who would be the best option as a singer of Divinitus. They quickly decided to call Rafael Cardenas, a musical colleague who had the attitude and the talent required to make the Divinitus sound just as they intended. When Rafael heard the songs he was blown away, his chemistry with the band was instantaneous, and he joined right away to record the 4 songs in two sessions. Right now Divinitus is in the studio recording their next album with unpublished songs with "Ahijado" at the bass. The history of Divinitus has just begun, be prepared because their future holds a much more extreme, brutal and spiritual Progressive Metal.
