Biography
Maruta is a grindcore band based out of Miami, FL that was conceived in late 2005. They are known for incorporating dissonant guitar riffs, elements of doom, powerviolence, and death metal into their abrasive grindcore style, and for their misanthropic lyrics and song subject matter. They released the demo Demonstrations in 2005, which was followed by the full-lengths In Narcosis in 2008 and Forward Into Regression in 2011. They also contributed songs to the Scott Hull-curated This Comp Kills Fascists Vol. 1 that was released in 2008.
At the end of 2011, the band members decided it was time to go their separate ways, and so the group parted to pursue different individual interests.
Reunited in 2012, Maruta will begin recording its new CD early next year with Scott Hull of Pig Destroyer and Agoraphobic Nosebleed at Visceral Sound Studios in Bethesda, Maryland. This collaboration marks the first time that Hull has agreed to record a band that is not his own, and certainly lays the groundwork for an ear-shattering Relapse debut.
