They identify with being German enough to reject that stain on their identity. It's something I've seen in people for all my life.

I guess one of them can lead to the other, though. We all should know people who get angry when you point out Germany's historic responsibility.

I think we're talking about different things. I'm talking about making your country YOUR identity. Not acknowledging a country's history.

yeah I see how nationalism can be misused. But I think it's very extreme to essentially get rid of all national identity. That would include getting rid of a nation's history and culture, which is all intertwined in a national ID
