Orange Goblin - To Enter Studio In May
Orange Goblin will enter a recording studio in London at the end of May 2009 to record what will be their 7th studio album and first for new label Candlelight. Production on this one will be handled by Sanford Parker who has recently produced albums by the likes of Nachtmystium, Lair Of The Minotaur, Pelican, Rwake, Unearthly Trance, Venemous Concept, Minsk, Buried At Sea, and more.
Orange Goblin vocalist Ben Ward said "We are excited at the prospect of working with Sanford, we are all big fans of his work with bands like Pelican, Nachtmystium, and Lair Of The Minotaur, and I'm sure he will add a new element to what we do in Orange Goblin. It's inspiring to work with someone new that 'gets' exactly what we are about and Sanford's enthusiasm to work with us made him an obvious choice!"
The album should be due for release in September 2009.
In other news, Orange Goblin recently announced their main stage appearance on the Roadburn Festival in April (at Tilburg, The Netherlands). The whole performance will be recorded for a limited edition, vinyl only live album to be released on Roadburn Records.

Pantheon I - To Enter Studio In January
Pantheon I have posted the following update:
"We have spent most of our energy on writing material for the new album lately, which is scheduled for release mid-2009 through Candlelight Records. The album has been entitled "Worlds I Create", and as of today we have 7 songs done! We will enter the studio late January if everything goes as planned!
We have also done several one-off shows the last 6 months, including the Interregnum festival in Germany, and the Jalometalli festival (With Overkill, Satyricon, Mayhem +++) in Oulu, Finland. In October we did our first headliner-tour abroad, a mini-tour in Finland with Enochian Crescent (FIN) and Coprolith (FIN). We had a blast in Finland, and we hope to return soon as possible to create even more havoc!! After coming home from the mini-tour we went into Strand-Studio to record a brand new song called "I'll Come Back As Fire", which will be featured in the film "Someone's Knocking At The Door" an American horror-movie now in the post-production process. We are also proud to announce that we have signed up with Pihkamedia for festivals and tours in Finland and regarding the rest of the world we have teamed up with Listenup music."

Trail Of Tears - To Enter Studio In November
Original news, posted on 07.08.2008
Trail Of Tears have posted the following update:
"It is with great pleasure that we announce that Trail of Tears will enter Soundsuite Studio in Marseille, France with acclaimed producer Terje Refsnes on November 3rd 2008 to start recording our sixth studio album! The band expects to spend six weeks tracking the yet untitled effort which will be released worldwide on Napalm Records in early 2009.
Comments vocalist Ronny Thorsen:
"We are beyond stoked to enter the studio again at Soundsuite with our fellow Norwegian Terje Refsnes. This will be our third album recording in beautiful Marseille and we are boiling over with creativity and excitement! So far we have about 14 songs ready, with an additional four or five on the drawing board. It will be a difficult challenge to figure out which ones will end up on the final product but definitely something we look forward to."
Due to the preparations, the band has also decided to postpone the planned South American tour in September/October.
Vocalist Ronny Thorsen said:
"We hope that everyone will understand and support this decision as it is the only right one for the circumstances. We want to deliver a full production and a killer live experience when we finally come to South America and not some amputated half-assed shows. It is a known fact that it takes a considerable amount of time to organise such a tour in South America as opposed to Europe, not to mention finding the right promoters. Our main priority now is to set our minds 100% into making this album as astonishing as it has to be and therefore we see no other alternative than to postpone the tour. Please note that we are using the word postpone here, we WILL reach your shores after the new album is released to give you a show that you as well as the band deserves!"
UPDATE (thanks to Abattoir)
As previously announced, Trail Of Tears will be recording a new album. Here is the latest news from the band:
"The studio session for our new album has officially started in Sound Suite Studio in Marseille, France! We will spend six weeks in the company of producer Terje Refsnes recording this, our 6th album and we are really stoked about the material at hand. The plan is to record 16-17 songs in which we will pick 11 or 12 to be featured on the final product. There will also be a limited edition of the album which will include bonus tracks as well as different packaging. Mastering duties will as usual be handled by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios in Finland and the album will see a world-wide release next year through Napalm Records."

Benediction - Enter The Studio In January
British extreme metallers Benediction have posted the following message, including a tour recap and future plans:
"First off, a big thank you to everybody that turned up to the shows on the tour. Also apologies to the few shows that got cancelled, this was beyond our control due to tour bus issues, fire, breaking down etc etc! A special mention has to go out to Holy Moses and Nominon, who we are privileged to know and stuck together when all manner of shit was happening to us all on tour. In particular we would like to thank Holy Moses guitarist Michael who managed to fix just about everything that we broke on the tour! We love you matey.
Now then, our plans for 2009. Benediction will be going into the studio again in January/February to record the follow up to "Killing Music". It is now written and it"s down to the fine tuning and choosing what tracks to be on the final recording. To promote this release the band will only be doing festivals and one off shows worldwide except for a Balkans tour which was missed out on the "No Reunion Required" tour. It will be our 20th anniversary as a band in 2009 and we intend to make some sort of event for ourselves for it.
The reason for just festivals? Being on a tour bus limits where you can get to country wise. A plane flight can get you anywhere in the world much quicker which means reaching more people to distribute the metal to! After this there are no plans. Let's see how much mayhem we can create on our 20th anniversary festival tour and see who comes out of it alive before any new plans are hatched."

Anthrax - Entering The Studio Soon
Original news, posted on 13.08.2008
Nuclear Blast offered the following update:
"American Heavy Metal legend Anthrax are back and about to enter the studio. Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante has issued the following update: "We're entering the studio in October to start recording. We wanted a Halloween vibe. I wanna do my drum tracks dressed like Ringo."
Furthermore, Anthrax will play their first Korean show ever, playing the Dongducheon Rock Festival."
You can read the full blog by Charlie Benante here.
UPDATE
Here's an update from Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante:
"We have 13 brand new Anthrax songs, we have 4 (maybe 5) B-Sides. The B Sides will be "Brain of J" - Pearl Jam, "Big Eyes" - Cheap Trick, "New Noise" - The Refused, "Running Down a Dream" - Tom Petty, and maybe an Anvil cover - "Jackhammer"? Or maybe an Alice Cooper cover - "We Die Young"?
The new tunes are very strong. We have some old school thrash and some stuff that is like "We've Come For You All" meets "Sound Of White Noise". This record is not forced - it is a very organic and honest representation of where we are as a band and as writers. I hear many things nowadays that sound forced, I ain't digging that. There is a 6-minute tune called "Down Goes The Sun", I believe it is one of my favorite songs. The music itself is epic, it sends chills up my spine. "Face with No Name", "The Devil You Know", "Earth On Hell" - all killer.
"Worship Music" should be out in May. We enter the studio on Nov 4th, the day that change comes, hahahaha."
"Worship Music" will be the first Anthrax album to feature new vocalist Dan Nelson and the band's first album since 2003's "We've Come For You All".

Brutal Truth - Prepare To Enter The Studio
As posted on the Brutal Truth website, "Evolution Through Revolution" is the working title for the new Brutal Truth record. The band adds: "We have been writing / grinding the songs live for the last year and are set to record in the fall. New to the writing and recording is guitarist Erik Burke of Sulaco, Kalibas, and countless other Rochester, NY based metal/grind projects. For those who have followed Dan's endeavors, he also plays in Nuclear Assault. So with a new guitar player, the obvious question is... what's it sound like? We have some tracks on the relapse compilation "This Comp Kills Fascists", that could give you a little idea, however, the material for the record is a bit more involved. All the complexities that make Brutal Truth a head fuck are there - an endless bizarre mix of styles and tempos that will entertain even the most experimental grind nerd... so yes, very excited to smash and record. We have a little over thirty minutes written, and of course there will be odds and ends released here and there... either keep in touch here or the brutalfuckintruth.myspace page."
And drummer Rich Hoak announced the following on that brutalfuckintruth.myspace page: "I've been in the basement playing drums for 15-17 hours a day for the last 10 weeks: On October 6, Brutal Truth will begin recording at Watchmen Studios. We've have 24 new songs to choose from: "Grind Fidelity", "Evolution Through Revolution" and "Detached" are a few song titles."

We will also be entering the studio this weekend to begin recording a 4 song (3 songs/outro) split CD with Swedish heavyweights Beneath The Frozen Soil. This will be released by I Hate Records. Details are still mostly unclear as of this moment, however more will be posted as soon as I receive it... including the titles, time lengths, release date as well as other important news. In a further blog comment, Evoken further revealed: "All but one track is new. We will be redoing "Omniscient" from the 2002 promo. It was actually recorded for the 2005 album "Antithesis Of Light" but was scraped at the last minute due to time restrictions on a single CD."

Skyforger - Enter The Studio, Changes In Line-up
The following news was posted at the Skyforger official website:
"We are pleased to announce that after a longer hiatus, Skyforger is finally back in studio to record follow-up to the last full length "Thunderforge", which came out back in 2003. This is the first time band has decided to abandon "Phoenix" studio where all previous albums were shaped and now will try out different surroundings. A recording takes place in calm environments of personal studio "Lauska" of band's own member Kaspars Barbals who's supervising all the processes. As usually Skyforger will be producing the album themselves; there are planned ten brand-new compositions in total, but no album name or song titles are known by this stage. Two weeks ago drummer Mazais nailed down all drum parts and in next week bass player Zirgs will complete his bass lines."
Band members say: "This is five years since the last album and definitely there blows some fresh wind in terms of creation of the new song structures & coming up with new ideas. In few words the new album could be described as a good mix of heavy metal and thrash metal, spicing it all up with a certain dose of Latvian folk music. But not to worry, fans will still recognize the usual quality and sound of the songs they have come to know and expect from Skyforger."
Regarding the lineup changes the band posted the following:
"At this point we also would like to refer to the changes that have occurred in Skyforger. A few weeks ago band parted ways with guitarist Rihards and this time seems that is forever. Sadly enough during these two years after his return, we could not come to similar views on some important matters for the band. But nothing has changed, the rest of band members are busy at studio and in meanwhile looks for suitable replacement."
