Symphony X - Another Update From The Studio

Symphony X's webmaster has posted another studio update online. The band are still working on their upcoming album 'Paradise Lost' which is supposed to be released some time in the first half of 2007.

Here is the posting, taken from symphonyx.com:

"Spoke to MJR for a while this afternoon, and here's what he had to say...

They had planned to start the mix on the CD this week, but were delayed a bit overall by the holiday earlier this week, so mixing has been rescheduled for January. Russ has 3 songs to finish (and was on his way to The Dungeon as Mike & I spoke) & hopes to be done with his recording by the weekend, and MJR has a couple more solos that he wants to record, as well as getting some loose ends tied up and polishing things up overall. They are still aiming for a Spring '07 release, & Mike had some pretty exciting things to say about the material, saying that it has something for old fans and new fans alike, so I'm confident more than ever in saying that the CD will be well worth the wait.

So there IS light at the end of the tunnel, & the band appreciates your patience greatly; stay tuned for more info soon!"

Dying Fetus - Upcoming Album Details

According to a post on shop.relapse.com, Death metal powerhouse Dying Fetus return with their long-awaited new record "War of Attrition" this summer.
Masterminded by guitarist/vocalist John Gallagher and his hand picked kill-team, "War of Attrition" advances the band's devastating assault and destroys everything in its path. From the first song to the last, the patented 'Fetus combination of punishing slam riffs, frenzied guitar work, and utterly savage dual-vocal assault and overpowers the listener. "War of Attrition" reaches an altogether new and focused level of brutality for Dying Fetus, and expands and cements the legendary status of this renowned US metal institution.
A US release date is set on 3 June 2007

Antigama - Complete New Album

Poland's Antigama has recently completed work on their Relapse Records debut album, "Resonance."

The effort was recorded in December at Studio X in Olsztyn, Poland by engineer Szymon Czech. The 18 song album is set for a May 2007 release. Advance song titles for Resonance include: "Seismic Report", "Ecstasy", "Pursuit", "Neutral Balance", "Order", "Pending", "Remembering Nothing", "By And By", "Shymrok", and "Stars."

"It's certainly the best sounding and most mature album of Antigama" says guitarist Sebastian Rokicki, "In short it's the most brutal, wild, astonishing, uncommon and experimental piece of music we've ever made."

Antigama vocalist Lukasz Myszkowski adds: "It was the first time we had so much time for the recording session. We freed ourselves of the inhibitions and discharged all of the animal emotions and toxic waste. Resonance is coming!"

Power Of Omens - Original Bassist Matt Williamson Loses Battle With Cancer

Guitarist David Gallegos of defunkt San Antonio bases prog-metallers Power Of Omens has issued the following statement in regards to the passing of the band's original bassist Matt Wlliamson:

"It comes with great sadness to announce the passing of one of my dearest friends... Matt Williamson.

As many of you know, he had been diagosed with terminal cancer almost 2 years ago, and was only given 3 months to live at that time... but Matt's determination to fight this and win the battle was evident in his amazing struggle to survive almost 2 more years after his diagnosis.

Unfortunately, as I just found out this morning (December 14th), Matt lost his battle this past Saturday, December 9th.

He was an incredible person, a great friend, and an absolutely amazing bassist and musician. He will sorely be missed by his wife, family, as well as his Power Of Omens family."

Former bandmate and current Zero Hour vocalist Chris Salinas states, "Matt was a great person and great friend who also served our country proudly in the Army. He played a key role in the writing proccess of the first Power Of Omens CD. Things were never the same when the country called his name and he had to leave. I love you Brutha and I will miss you. You will live on through music forever."

Mayhem - New Album Completed

Norwegian black metallers Mayhem have finished recording their new album, "Ordo Ad Chao".

Guitarist Blasphemer (aka Rune Erickson) comments: "The sound is raw and powerful, and listening to it, it reminds me of the Wolf's Lair Abyss era, only more varied and more philosophical. The album also contains the most aggressive songs in the Mayhem history as well as the most wicked and darkest."

"Ordo Ad Chao" is tentatively scheduled for release in April, 2007 via Season Of Mist. The album will initially be avaialble in very exclusive packaging.

Anathema - Upcoming Album's Tracklist Revealed

Guitarist Daniel "Danny" Cavanagh has posted the following update on the official Anathema website, in the diary section:

Sunlight fails but only for a while...
The album is coming along very nicely.

We are well aware that for one reason or another, it has taken a long time for Anathema to get to this place, but now we are ready. The album tracklist is decided. The rehearsals are going very well.
Everything, quite literally, is falling into place.
What i love about this record is the character it seems to have. The songs belong together. There is purpose and focus. And it shines. Brightly.
The message is one of hope. of the absolute certainty that there is a better way. There is always a better way. There is always a solution, a purpose. It only remains for us to be open to it. To bring ourselves back into harmony with a larger system.
That harmony begins by bringing ourselves back into balance within ourselves. All the ancient sages and wise people have said it. Change starts with the individual.
Some of these songs are a little more melancholy, and some of them are euphoric. They all have one thing in common in that they are all very much from the heart, and they are dripping with emotion. This is the greatest record we have ever made. I know it in my heart. All we need do now is find the right engineer/producer and the right studio? And to remain focussed.
To this end, we have decided to hire a house in the country for the first month of next year to 'live' this record before we record. We will play everyday and we will leave no stone unturned in pursuit of brilliance. Of a new way to express these feelings.
I put my faith that the greater mind can bring everything into place for us to make this record. A record that will certainly affect some people. I do not wish to sound pretentious but i know it will change lives. This is what music does. It moves people in a way no other form of art does.
Because our inspiration is of a pure source, and because our intentions are genuinely to reach people and open them up to new ways of feeling and thinking, i have every faith that whatever we need to make this happen will come to us.
The final tracklist is this.

Anathema - Everything

01. Thin Air (Ann Further)
02. Bricks (working title)
03. Lightning Song
04. Sunlight
05. Get Off. Get Out. (working title)
06. Angels Walk Among Us
07. Everything
08. A Simple Mistake
09. Voodoo (working title)
10. No One Is Free (working title)
11. Paradigm Shift

Thunderstone - Upcoming Album Details

Thunderstone have issued the following update on their forthcoming album:

Thunderstone's upcoming fourth studio effort is confirmed to be released worldwide (except USA) on March 14th, 2007 and later in the spring in the USA. The album bears the title "Evolution 4.0".
Band members characterize the forthcoming album as 'a milestone, bringing in more of the heavier stuff that "Tools Of Destruction" already hinted at, but still retaining the landmark melodies of Thunderstone. That's why we thought the title "Evolution 4.0" best represents where we now stand.
Some song titles include 'Roots Of Anger', '10 000 Ways', 'Swirled', 'Down With Me' and 'The Source'.
