Pain Confessor - Part Ways With Guitarist

Finnish metallers Pain Confessor have issued the following update:

"The year 2008 was all rest for everyone in the Pain Confessor camp. We've been recharging our batteries but of course found some time to record a couple of demo songs that were released in June on our homesite and our MySpace page.

After the demo, we fell back into slumber. The urge to move forward grew within us and we found ourselves in the situation where the only way to move on was to let Vesa 'Wesleyer' Säkkinen go. We longed for the same fire that burned within us in the summer of 2002 when Pain Confessor was originally conceived.

All further speculation is futile. What's important is that we are very much alive and feel that we made the correct decision in order to evolve and boost the creativity and inspiration within the band.

All systems are go, new material is in the works. Still, it is too early to talk about a new full length album as of now but we are excited about our new material. We guarantee a new album at some point.

New guitarist? We have chosen a new guitarist already. Although his identity shall remain a mystery for a short while still we can say we are proud to have him join our ranks and can't wait to utilize his vocal abilities and skills as a guitarist.

Official announcement will happen at our concert Friday the 21st of November at Rocktown, Hämeenlinna, Finland. Our new member will make his first live appearance during the show. We also have a good friend from Hateform/Mors Principium Est, Tomy Laisto, to play second guitar for the show."

Pain Of Salvation - Update From The Band

Pain Of Salvation Updated their site with some great news:

They will part of a series of Charitiy Gigs: "As usual, Pain of Salvation will always do what they can to support causes they agree with, and this year they will play in Finnaker, Sweden on the 6th of September at the charity festival Rock for Moc (for Mozambique), and later on in Eskilstuna, Sweden, at the last day of the European Mobility Week, September 22 (car free day). On the 10th of October they will again play in Eskilstuna, at the Balsta Musikslott (Buster stage), headlining the "Rock for the Children of the World" night".

Daniel said the following about the dvd: "The DVD is starting to come together, and will consist of two separate discs - one will be the live show from our last tour, and the other one will be a documentary following the band on the 2005 tour, which marked the end of that line-up. The fact that the band has seen such major changes the last two years made it very difficult emotionally to invest time and energy in this product, and it wasn't until the documentary draft was proposed by Per Hillblom that I started to see what this DVD was trying to communicate. We still have a few commentary tracks to record but we are starting to see the end of it."

And also little heads-up from the world number eight: "We are starting to get a grasp of the tons of material that I have been working on in my head. My vision is that the next album will be recorded in our rehearsing room, and we have started to prepare ourselves and the rehearsing room for this. The material that I am focusing on for the album at the moment, is some sort of cross breed between the heavy early 70s in the vein of Sabbath/Zeppelin and the dark weirdness of Faith no More/Soundgarden together with a touch of fragile suggestiveness displayed by The Doors/Jeff Buckley. Add some energetic Foo Fighters and you will start to get the picture..."

Pain - Members Beaten Up, Gig Cancelled

Pain touring guitarist Marcus Jidell (Royal Hunt, House Of Shakira) has issued the following update on his official MySpace:

"We had to cancel the gig tonight in Leipzig while some crazy assholes kicked Peter (Tägtgren), Johan (Husgafvel) and David (Wallin) down when they where on their way home from a local bar yesterday. They just came from behind so there was nothing they could do. I was in the bus watching a movie so I am totally ok, besides the fact that we had to cancel. I feel really shitty to cancel but there was no way we could play today . I hope we will be able to be on stage tomorrow but I am not sure. But the guys are in a good mood and are working on recovering. Today we will sleep in a hotel and I'll try to make our heroes feel a little bit better."

Pain are currently on the road in Europe supporting Nightwish.

Drummer David Wallin has posted the following UPDATE:

"We arrived here (Leipzig) and three of us spent the evening of our day off at some local bars. When we had enough we walked out on the street to find a taxi back to the bus and three assholes decided to kick us down and hit me in the head with a wine bottle. Some guy who recognized us helped us in his car to a nearby hospital. Peter's got a really black eye and was given 10 stitches on his cheek. I have a concussion, eight stitches on the side of my head and glass in my hands. Johan has a broken nose and bruises all over. We're really sorry for canceling tonight's (February 23) show but it just wasn't possible. We're gonna do our best to get back in the saddle again and continue the tour without further interruption. Everything tastes better with blood in your mouth."

Jon Oliva's Pain - North American Tour With Circle II Circle And Manticora

The following was posted on Jon Oliva's Pain's my space page:

Jon Oliva's Pain, Circle II Circle, & Manticora will team-up for the first leg of the North American "Global Intrusions" tour this fall. This marks the first time that Jon Oliva (Jon Oliva's Pain, Savatage, Trans-Siberian Orchestra) & Zak Stevens (Circle II Circle, ex-Savatage) have toured together since their days in Savatage in 1999.

"Wow, it's certainly been a while since I have been able to get back on the road here in America...it must be snowing in hell. It's going to be great touring in support of what I consider one of the best records of my career. We really pulled out all the stops for this one. Touring with Zak and the Circle II Circle guys is going to be a treat as well, especially for Savatage fans. We've got a few tricks up our sleeves so don't miss out as it may never happen again. Looking forward to seeing all of you soon" said Oliva. Stevens adds, "It's always special to perform on the same bill with Jon Oliva, especially here in the States! Obviously Jon has been a huge influence on my musical career and I remain one of his biggest fans. This tour will be a special event for all our fans that have enjoyed our work throughout the Savatage years and now into the new generation of Jon Oliva's Pain and Circle II Circle music."

Manticora's Lars Larsen states "For us, this is a great opportunity as we now get the chance to start in Europe with Oliva and then finish the party in North America with one of our biggest inspirations."

Dates to be announced soon.

Pain Of Salvation - New Drummer Revealed

It's official, Léo Margarit, a 26 years old guy from la Digne D'Aval (a tiny little village near of Toulouse, France), is the new drummer of Pain Of Salvation.

His public presentation happened yesterday, during the Motstoy festival at Notodden, Norway, and we already know through Léo that the event went well, with lot of emotion from both sides.

Leo's started playing drums very young, raised in the passion of music. Until today, Leo played in several bands and formations form Latin Jazz to Death Metal, through Progressive. His personal tastes are quite eclectic as well, and Pain of salvation was one of his all time favourite bands.

Check out is personal Myspace page at this location: http://www.myspace.com/leomargarit to learn more about him.

Pain Of Salvation - New Drummer To Be Revealed In Norway

As posted on the band's website, the new POS' drummer will play his first show in Norway!

"Always two there is...

The search is over, and a new drummer has now joined the band. The level of competition and skills among the few drummers who remained at the top of the crop was extremely high, but this guy outplayed everyone in the end. To the extent, it might be added, that the band even chose to go for the one non-Swede finalist.

So, who could this phantom be?

Well, just to make things painful, it will not be made official who the new drummer is as of yet. Instead, the veil will fall live on stage next week, at the Motstoy festival in Notodden, Norway, 6th of October. This is not only the very last gig of the Sickening the World tour of 2007, but also the farewell show of long time drummer Johan Langell. This will be the only chance to see both drummers on stage with Pain of Salvation and, needless to say, those who have the possibility of attending this show will definitely be in for a special treat.

To celebrate the event even further, the band will also perform some songs that the fans have not heard live in a long time. All-in-all: if ever there was a different and special show of Pain of Salvation, this is bound to be it! Your one chance to say goodbye to the old king, and welcome the new one."

Facts about the show:
Description: Motstoy Festival
Country: Norway
Town: Notodden
Date: Oct 6, 2007
Length: 90 + min

Facts about the new drummer:
Description: Drummer of Pain of Salvation
