Soil - Announce New Members For Upcoming Shows

US heavy rockers Soil have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"I'm sure you are all wondering what is happening in the world of SoiL after all the rumors and statements that have been going around. Late last week we learned of AJ's intentions as he notified us of his "indefinite hiatus". Then we learned of Tom's intentions, As did all of you, via the Blabbermouth statement he issued a few days ago.

We have decided that the show must and will go on. We refuse to let the fans, promoters, and radio stations down on such short notice. We decided to ask our friend's Jordan Lee (vox) and Mike Tignino (drums) to fill in. Both Jordan and Mike are awesome musicians and have been long time Soil followers and to us it is an honor to have them join us for the already confirmed shows. We will take full advantage of this opportunity to perform some classic songs we haven't played in years and can promise you we will deliver a powerful and energetic show that will meet and surpass the standards we have always set for our live shows.

You can either take a bad situation and make it worse, or you can rise above and make it a fun event that everyone can remember and walk away from having a good time. We plan on doing just that. So to the fans, come out to see some classics we haven't played in ages, Have a good time and enjoy yourself! After all that is what rock and roll is all about!

Humbly,
Tim & Adam."

Soilwork - New Album Details

Original news, posted on 23.01.2010

Swedish modern melodic metallers Soilwork have just finished wrapping up the writing process of their new album titled, The Panic Broadcast. The recording will mark the much anticipated return of founding guitarist Peter Wichers. Vocalist Bjorn "Speed" Strid sent the following update:

"After a long but intense absence, I'm back giving you a little report on what's going on in the Soilwork camp. We have just wrapped up the last songs on the new record and I have a constant smile on my face. The title of the new album will be, The Panic Broadcast. I'm so stoked to record this new album and I feel it's gonna be quite a challenge for everybody in the band.

So how's it sounding? Here's my personal take: I feel it's bigger than life to use an old cliché, but seriously, if any of you for some reason have missed some of that intricate riffing that made Soilwork unique, then you won't be dissapointed. I feel this record is very playful and we're not cutting down on anything, no "is this too much information" -consideration, no "less is more," just pure musical joy with no boundaries, THAT to me is what it's all about. Obviously there's gonna be some surprises like always but giving every member of this band the freedom to go apeshit, will make this record a heavy and naturally catchy one.

More solos? - Check. Insane riffing? - Check. Melodic vocals? - Check. Screamy vocals? - Check. Progressive keyboards? - Check. Best metal drummer in the world? - Check. Flink dance while recording his bass tracks, like they were nothing? - Check.

Drums will be recorded in Asheville, NC starting this Saturday. Keep your eyes open for an online studio and video reports, join us and watch every step of the new album taking form. The Panic Broadcast is upon us."

UPDATE

Swedish metallers Soilwork have revealed the cover artwork for their upcoming album, The Panic Broadcast, due out on June 25 in Europe via Nuclear Blast Records.

Björn "Speed" Strid commented: "With the artwork for this album we wanted to capture the illusion of the mind, misconceptions and the state of panic. Bartosz Nalezinski has made a perfect job realizing this idea. The cover symbolizes the emperor of the illusion with two servants to assist the misconception. The background illustrates the abstract chaos that slowly takes over. Inside the booklet you can follow the psychological journey that brings you The Panic Broadcast."

Death Angel is a classic band that we've wanted to tour with for a long time. A perfect fit for the bill and surely an awesome touring companion. The summer of mosh is upon us. Don't miss out!"

Death Angel frontman Mark Osegueda added: "I can't begin to tell you how excited we are about the upcoming tour! I first heard Soilwork on a Nuclear Blast promo compilation and they stood out from the first listen. The riffs, the drumming, and Bjorn's vocal attack! Then we were fortunate enough to play with them at With Full Force Festival a few years back and they killed it live! As fate would have it, I was asked to participate in a Nuclear Blast 20 Year Anniversary compilation album called Out of the Dark, which Peter Wichers wrote the music for. I wrote the lyrics and melody for a song on that compilation called 'My Name is Fate'! Peter actually was also the producer, so I was fortunate enough to get to work with him in the studio! What a brilliant guy and and a great musician and now that he is back in the fold Soilwork is back on top of their game. I think the musical styles and live performances of both bands will make every show on this tour a show not to be missed by any true fan of HEAVY music! So don't just hear about the aftermath, experience it for yourself!"

Soilwork - To Enter Studio In January

Soilwork drummer Dirk Verbeuren has issued the following statement:

"It's official: Soilwork will enter the studio in January 2010! The long-awaited follow-up to 2007's Sworn To A Great Divide will be produced by guitarist Peter Wichers and mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Paradise Lost, Bloodbath). Drums will be tracked at Echo Mountain in Asheville, NC. The rest of the recording is set to take place in Tampa, FL and the mix at Fascination Street in Orebro, Sweden.

Soilwork's as-yet-untitled eighth album will be the first to feature Peter Wichers since his return to the band in 2008, as well as the studio debut with guitarist Sylvain Coudret (Scarve) who also joined last year.

On another note, Listenable Records recently re-released the classic Soilwork albums Steelbath Suicide and The Chainheart Machine. Fully remastered by the band's long-time sound engineer Mattias Nilsson, with updated artwork and liner notes by BWBK's Carl Begai, these re-releases come in Super Jewelcases and each feature two rare or previously unreleased 1999 live bonus tracks."

Zimmers Hole - To Drop Off Soilwork European Tour

According to a posting on the band's MySpace, Zimmers Hole is no longer a part of the upcoming European Tour with Soilwork, as drummer Gene Hoglan has suffered a death in his family.

"From our hearts, we send Gene and the entire Hoglan family all of our love, and deepest condolences at this difficult time. The Hoglan family is the "first family of metal", and we are all deeply saddened.", commented the band.

Also, bassist Byron Stroud is nursing a broken hand. The band adds: "Byron is not only our bassist, his duties also include band manager and road manager. He is vital to us. While Byron's injury was untimely, he felt he could be ready in time for the tour. With the sad news from the Hoglan family, there was no way we could do this and be focused in any way.

Apologies go out to all of our European fans and agents. We'll miss you. We ask for your understanding at a very tough time for all of us."

Soilwork - Guitarist Returns

Soilwork has announced that their former guitarist, Peter Wichers will be returning to the band. A statement from the group reads as follows:

"The past two years have been great although sometimes a bit turbulent. We made another killer album and did several amazing tours around the world; and today it is with sheer joy and excitement that we announce the return of Peter Wichers as a guitarist in Soilwork. He's been missed both as a bandmate and as a songwriter.

We know that we can come back even stronger, and it definitely gives us a feeling of inspiration and completion to have Peter, one of the founders of Soilwork, come back to the fold. We feel that we can look into the future with greater confidence and musical creativity. Having Peter back will complete the circle and the final line up of the band.

This also marks Daniel Antonsson's departure from Soilwork as Peter's replacement since 2006. We are really grateful for Daniel's excellent work and he will be missed. However, to us it's ideal for Peter to fulfill his former duties as a songwriter and guitarist. Going separate ways with Daniel is not an easy decision for us to make, but it's the right one. We wish Daniel the best of luck in the future and many great things with his other band Dimension Zero! Rock on Daniel!!!

As we previously announced, Dirk's bandmate in Scarve, Sylvain Coudret, has been doing session work for us throughout the Summer festivals and shredding on second guitar. Therefore we're taking this opportunity to confirm Sylvain as a permanent guitar player for Soilwork. Since we're big fans of Scarve, we know Sylvain will make a great addition to the songwriting process for the next Soilwork album."

Peter Wichers has also posted a message online:

"Let me first of all say that I'm incredibly grateful for all the amazing feedback and support that I've received since my departure from Soilwork almost three years ago.

When I left Soilwork, I was at a place in my life where I felt burnt out on touring and I needed to get my life into a more stable situation. I needed to do something other than Soilwork, perhaps explore more diverse styles of songwriting and musical journeys. Therefore, over the past few years, I've been very focused on production, songwriting and family, and have had the privilege to work with some amazing artists on some really cool and rewarding projects.

During my time away from the band, my good friend Bjorn 'Speed' and I had always kept in touch and maintained a great friendship. We recently spoke about working on a possible musical collaboration, and that's when we started toying with the idea of me perhaps returning to Soilwork.
