Ajattara - Split Up

Finnish black metal group Ajattara have split up, according to the band's latest posts on their official Facebook page. The band issued the following translated from Finnish: "Ajattara ceased to exist! Get the fuck out of this site! Ajattara will not continue! T.I.R.S. The end."

The band's official website has been down ever since and no further information or reasons were disclosed.

Darkseed - Reveal New Best Of Album Details

German gothic metallers Darkseed will release a digital best of album entitled Astral Darkness Awaits, which will feature 14 tracks including two bonus songs, only available on the limited edition of the physical version of Poison Awaits. The band has now revealed the album's cover art and tracklist. Astral Darkness Awaits will be available on iTunes, Amazon MP3, Musicload and other digital music stores only on May 4th.

Threat Signal - Part Ways With Drummer

Alex "Rudy" Rudinger, drummer of Canadian cyber metal outfit Threat Signal, has recently parted ways with the band. The band is now seeking a replacement. In a short statement, the band stated: "Unfortunately Alex has made the decision to quit Threat Signal and pursue other projects. So, we are looking for a new drummer. Gates Of Winter - New Album In December

Canadian symphonic progressive metallers Gates Of Winter are busy working on their new album, Perihelion. Band vocalist and guitarist, Lee Maines, checked in with the following update: "A slew of technical difficulties has prevented work from getting done on the album, however the majority of these issues have now been overcome... We will still be aiming for a December release but may have to revise that in the coming months."

Forces Of Metal 2012 - Festival Cancelled

It has recently been announced that the two-day metal event Forces Of Metal, taking place on June 8th-9th in The Netherlands and boasting such as acts as Sonata Arctica, Kamelot, Dark Funeral and Draconian has unfortunately been cancelled for reasons which remain undisclosed. In a short public letter posted on the festival's website, the organisers had this to say: "It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that Forces Of Metal 2012 will not take place. We've tried; tried hard, but to no avail."

Shining - Reveal New EP Details

Swedish black metallers Shining are set to release an EP of cover songs with a choice of material that will come as a surprise to many of the band's fans. The four-track EP, titled Lots Of Girls Gonna Get Hurt, includes tracks from Katatonia, Kent, Imperiet and Poets Of The Fall, and is due for release via Spinefarm Records on May 16th. Whilst Katatonia is an internationally recognised name, Kent and Thåström's Imperiet are relatively unknown outside of Sweden, where they are two of the country's biggest names, and Poets Of The Fall is a Finnish band with a substantial following in their own country. Cover art is by Pauline Greefhorst.
