God Dethroned - To Disband Later This Year

2011 marks God Dethroned's final year in existence.

God Dethroned vocalist and guitarist Henri Sattler released the following statement on behalf of the band: "We could have spent another year in a tour bus because the amount of offers was endless, but I just don't feel like touring anymore. People told me to take a break for a year or maybe two, but as I'm an "all, or nothing at all" type of person, I decided to call it quits.

Not immediately, but in December of this year we will definitely play our last show. That's gonna be at the Eindhoven Metal Meeting in Holland.

I'm very proud of what we achieved with the band, but the time has come for new challenges. I would like to thank all of our fans for their support for all these years."

Hellfest 2011 - Line Up Change!!!

Some line up changes for Hellfest 2011 !

Here is the official press release of the festival:

Unfortunately we're sad to announce that two bands are forced to cancel their upcoming appearances at Hellfest 2011.

The first one, and not the least, is Trust. Here is the band's official statement :

"Unfortunately Trust will not be playing on the 18th of June 2011 at Hellfest festival. The band will not be performing any concerts for an indefined period of time. We would like to point out that that it is not linked in any way with the organization of the Hellfest event."

The second cancelation is Lock Up originally scheduled to play Saturday, June 18th under the Rock Hard tent. A problem in their tour schedules has forced the band to cancel this performance.

We apologize for these two changes and we would like to announce the bands who will be replacing them, as well as the 3 surprise acts you were all waiting for!

With great pleasure, we can confirm that In Flames and Down will be playing at Hellfest on June 17th and Dark Tranquillity, Duff Mackagan's Loaded and Static-X will be playing on Sunday, June 19th!

Also note that Angel Witch and Hail Of Bullets will be performing on the Saturday, June 18th, instead of on the Sunday, June 19th as originally planned.

Again we would like to apologize for these line-up changes!

More news to come soon! So keep posted!

Soulfallen - Prepare To Record Third Album

Finnish metallers Soulfallen have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"We have been quiet for some time now, but now it is time to break the silence. Lately there have not been a lot of gigs, and we will only do a selected amount of shows this spring, since we have been and wish to concentrate on writing new material fitting our upcoming evil plans. Plans that include the recording of our third album in the summer of 2011!

The successor of Grave New World will be forged to life at the familiar and fiendly fires of Mount Doom also known as Studio Watercastle, located in Jyväskylä, Finland. And as before, additional orchestral perversions will be invoked at Noisework productions. The new album will be the end of a trilogy, the final step into the dark. It will bear the trademark sound of Soulfallen, but with a few more sinister twists and turns to elevate this auditory plague into whole new depths of gloom. We can't wait for you all to feast your ears upon this!

There are still questions left unanswered regarding the release of this third chapter of horror, however, we are in high hopes that the scourge will be out by the end of 2011! So wait. Worry. And stay tuned, for we will be giving updates of our third descent into Hell as spring turns into yet another infernal summer...

And there is more. Since we will be having a new album out, we thought it would be fitting to update our merchandise as well. We have now ordered our last batch of Grave New World t-shirts and hoodies, so if any of you are still planning on getting one, this will be your last chance! Act now, for soon it will be too late..."

Black Sabbath - No Reunion In The Works

Longtime Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler has shot down rumors of a Black Sabbath reunion with all original members.

Butler released the following statement: "I would like to make it clear, because of mounting speculation and rumours, that there will be definitely NO reunion of all four original members of Black Sabbath, whether to record an album or to tour."

The original Sabbath line-up of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward has not toured together since the summer of 2005, and last convened for their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in early 2006.

Slayer - Guitarist Contracts Acute Infection

Jeff Hanneman, guitarist and founding member of Slayer, was hospitalized late last month where he underwent emergency surgery on his right arm after contracting a serious infection, according to his band mates Kerry King, Tom Araya and Dave Lombardo.

While Hanneman's doctors were not able to definitively identify the infection's origin, they diagnosed necrotizing fasciitis (commonly known as flesh-eating disease), and indicated it likely was rooted in a spider bite. The guitarist is now recuperating at home, has already begun the process of subsequent medical procedures including skin grafts, and is expected to make a full recovery.

In light of this situation and Slayer's upcoming participation in the Australian Soundwave Festival tour that is set to kick off on February 26, the band has made the tough decision to play the dates without Hanneman, and will bring on a guest guitarist to fill in for him until such time as he has fully recovered and is ready to return to the line-up. The band will announce details about the guest guitarist shortly.

"Jeff is our brother, we've all been friends and together as a band for almost 30 years," said Araya, "so we just want him to completely recover as soon as possible."

"After everything that happened last year," King added, "we all agreed that we just can't disappoint our fans again", referring to Araya's severe back and neck pain that prompted his January 2010 surgery, unfortunately leading to the band's postponement or cancellation of numerous shows in 2009 and 2010. "Jeff is totally on board with this decision, so we will tour as planned. At this point, we can't pinpoint exactly what day he'll be back, but he'll be back as soon as he possibly can, and we can't wait for him to get his ass back out on the road."
