Vidres A La Sang - Almost Finished Recording New Album

Xtreem Music press release

After three years working in the shadow, Spanish darkened Death Metal mongers Vidres A La Sang are back on track to complete and announce the coming of their third opus completing a trilogy that has transported us through the realms of poundingness, brutality, epic, feelings and drama dualized in only one context of life and death.

"Som" is the title of this new album that will reveal new horizons for the band that even though they still keep it loyal to their trademarks, explores new ways to reinvent themselves and keep on growing in their creative camp of maximum maturity. "Som" is a risky and honest work, carefully ellaborated, dense and crushing, intense and suffocating, simple and twisted in equal parts, the masterpiece that should Vidres A La Sang to the top of contemporaneous extreme Metal.

The band has been working again at AXtudios during the months of July and August for an scheduled release date of September 15th again through Xtreem Music which is already their third consecutive collaboration.

"Som" is the third album, the one that closes the trilogy with 6 songs on each record. Previous albums included "Vidres A La Sang" and "Endins". "Som" features 6 tales, 6 visions, 6 songs...

"Som" cover art] tracklist:

01. Som (Somos / We Are)
02. Policromía (Policromía / Polichromy)
03. Esclaus de la Modernitat (Esclavos de la Modernidad / Slaves to Modernity)
04. A l'ombra (En la Sombra / In the Shadows)
05. El Crit (El Grito / The Scream)
06. No Tornaré a Ser Jove (No Volveré a Ser Joven / I Won't be Young Again)

Kekal - Remaining Members Leave, Band Stays Clinically Dead

Official press release, taken from the Kekal newsletter

Jeff Arwadi and Leo Setiawan are leaving Kekal effective immediately. Arwadi and Setiawan were the last two remaining Kekal members. Bassist Azharlevi Sianturi already left the band in March. Throughout the past few months, Jeff has been securing all copyright and other rights of the entire Kekal's "intellectual property" including the band's entire releases back-catalog as well as all official internet sites, and also plan to make some of the band's important albums for free download. However, after seeking some legal advices, he decided to keep Kekal to remain exist as a band (read: institution) albeit without active band-members.

The following is the statement made by Jeff: "I cannot describe how sad I am at this point, but the situation is simply inevitable and I have made a decision, a very tough decision I've been thinking about for more than a couple years now: I am leaving Kekal.

Tuesday, I celebrated the 14th anniversary of Kekal in a very low-key; drinking alone quietly in sadness and grief, remembering all those years we have been through as a band. It is hard to believe that I had to leave this way, but it is better to end like this than to suffer by not being able to express myself properly to the band, and not being able to handle the band all by myself.

After about 3 years of living in such a different atmosphere (being closer to the nature: parks, lakes & mountains, and being placed in the city of 1 million instead of overcrowded 13 million that I used to live), I found myself devoid of all the anger and bitterness within, and further, that turns out that I am unable to express myself with music. I realized that I had used music to express negative feelings for far too long, to channel pain, anger and bitterness, if you don't have them in you any longer to a certain level, you can't force yourself to make that happen or they might influence you back into your life. I am all against fake expressions, and there is no way for me to lie to myself pretending that I still have that kind of negative feelings and continue to write songs for Kekal.

There are indeed some other reasons which contribute to my final decision, but they are more personal and private.

As for the other remaining member, Leo, he agreed that if I leave Kekal, he will leave too. He has his own music project at this moment and he wants to keep his focus on that, so this means he is leaving Kekal with me. And Levi already left Kekal earlier this year.

ProgPower Scandinavia - Festival Cancelled

Dear ticket-holder, booking agent, journalist, sponsor contact, music-fan and others associated with the festival,

We regretfully announce that ProgPower Scandinavia 2009 has been cancelled!

For almost a year we have been working hard on making this festival a reality and we believe that our labour has been fruitful in meeting all aspects required of a successful festival.

We have booked a more than solid roster with Pretty Maids and Candlemass as headliners; along with names such as Mercenary, Freak Kitchen, Manticora and Textures on the bill. All of these bands have established popularity in Denmark and should easily attract the Danish metal audience to our festival.

We have confirmed sponsorship/endorsement deals with a.o. Marshall, Musikpartner, Jack Daniels, Jägermeister, Cult Energy Drinks, Carlsberg and Coca Cola. We've have media support in the form of Metalized Magazine and Denmark's largest newspaper BT. We have had the collected Danish internet based metal media supporting us with banner advertisement, etc. And we've also had a lot of international promotion on metal sites in France, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, USA, Germany and Sweden.

We have collected all the backline/event info, booked hotel rooms, gathered a lot of volunteers for crew etc. All in all, we have done everything needed in order for this festival to be a success. Nothing was left half-way-done.

However, what we are left with now is to face the facts: as of today we have sold a very limited amount of tickets to the festival, which is simply not enough to come close to breaking even on expenses. Here in Denmark, there is a tendency for people to buy their tickets as late as possible to the show. So while we could justifiably expect more sales at the door, it is not a risk that we are willing to take.

Just to prove that we have not taken this lightly:
- we have handed out more than 20,000 flyers at several big metal shows in Copenhagen in the past months (AC/DC, Motley Crue, Deep Purple, Hammerfall and at all 5 of Metallica's Copenhagen shows)
- we have handed out 2,000 flyers at Sweden Rock festival
- we have constantly been handing out flyers at Copenhagen's #1 metal venue, The Rock
- we have printed up 1,000 full size posters
- we have had advertisements (half page and full page) in the last 2 issues of DK's largest metal publication, "Metalized Magazine"
- we have had a ton of banner advertisement all over the internet-on facebook, myspace, forums/webboards, etc.

Nervecell - Sign With Lifeforce Records

Official press release

Lifeforce is proud to announce the signing of Dubai's premier Death Metal act Nervecell!

Nervecell's Lifeforce debut will be the release of the band's album "Preaching Venom" outside the Middle East on October 26th in Europe (North America - tba).

"After months of discussions, negotiations and debates on seeking a secure label for our latest album "Preaching Venom", and the future of Nervecell during these difficult times in the record industry, the long awaited chase has indeed come to an end. We are extremely proud to announce that Nervecell has now officially signed to Lifeforce Records and to say that we are thrilled about it is the understatement of the year!" comments guitarist Barney Ribeiro.

"We honestly feel that this new relationship with Lifeforce is a great accomplishment and one that many once thought was impossible for a metal band based in the Middle East; but as the Nervecell legacy will tell, we are no strangers to breaking boundaries and crushing the limitations that we have constantly faced during the last 9 years in our career as a Dubai based death metal band. Having said that, to be the first band originating from Dubai to ever be on a label is a pretty cool bonus and yet another record broken!

To have Lifeforce Records backing us today and strongly believing in our music, we feel honored and rest assured we look forward to cooperating with them as we know this will only lead to bigger and better opportunities for the band.

Together with a strong team at Lifeforce Records we are confident that the future is bright and well, we really couldn't be happier!"

Lifeforce Records president Stefan Luedicke about the signing of Nervecell: "We at Lifeforce are more than happy to welcome Dubai's premier Death Metal band on Lifeforce. I have been in touch with Barney for a while already, but after meeting the guys at this year With Full Force festival it was an easy decision for us to say that we need to work with Nervecell. We hardly ever met a band with such strong work ethic and with the the highly professional team of people working for the band it will be a great pleasure for us to get the name Nervecell out to the world."
