Mechanical Organic - New Album Update

Mechanical Organic main man Eddie Katz (vocals, keyboards and bass) have offered the following update regarding the new album progress:

"The new Mechanical Organic release is fully mixed and we have booked mastering. We should have the finished product in our hands in about two weeks. The album will be called "Disrepair Part Two - The Pleasure Fled" and will feature the epic 17 minute track "In the Fangs of Lunacy".

For this recording Connie D is back on guitar, he played guitar on the first album "Flat Earth Society" and I also have a man named Evan Harris on bass. He played in a progressive metal band named Taramis in the 80's and 90's and he is now playing in well known bands such and Eyefear and Black Majesty. He is an awesome bass player and has made a big difference to the Mechanical Organic sound."

Deventter - Recording Sophomore Album Finished

Original news, posted on 23.05.2009

On May, 16th, the Brazilian prog rock/metal band Deventter will begin recording its new album at the renowned Creative Studios in São Paulo. This is the same recording studio used by famous Brazilian bands such as Angra, Shaman, Krisiun, etc. Even Paul Di Anno has already recorded there.

Deventter will start recording the drums, following by the guitars. The guitar player André Marengo does not hide your excitement for the beginning of the recordings.
"We are anxious to begin recording the new CD. We all developed as musicians and this reflected in the new compositions that are heavier than our first album".

In times where much is discussed about the pros and cons of new technologies in front of the "vintage" recording methods, Deventter wants to merge the best of both worlds. "We are fans of pedals and effects. We use equipment from vintage to VST's, analog and digital effects. The important thing is to get the sound we want," says keyboardist Hugo Bertolaccini that defends the conventional recordings in studios instead of the home recordings, so in vogue at the moment. "We want to maximize the resources that Creative Studios is offering us. They have more than enough tools to meet our musical ambitions. Moreover, the studio works with a variety of bands and musical styles, and we will explore techniques that normally are not used in rock"

On the band's page at Youtube there are some videos of the pre-production sessions. The tracklist, title and even the cover of the new album are already defined, but the band keeps secret.

The new Deventter album is expected to reach the stores in September.

UPDATE

"Lead... On" will be the new album's title of the Brazilian progressive rock/metal band Deventter. This will be the band's second album, sucessor of the high acclaimed "The 7th Dimension" (2007). "Lead... On" is being recorded at Creative Studios (Angra, Shaman, Paul Di Anno) and Norcal Studios (Andreas Kisser, Edu Falaschi, etc), both in São Paulo (Brazil), and will bring the following tracks:

01. O.M.T
02. 6000
03. Bunkers & Bankers
04. Reflected
05. All Rights Removed
06. Transcendence Inc.
07. ...
08. This Grace
09. Losing Track Of Time
10. Down To The Apex
11. Lead...Off

According to the bassist Leonardo Milani, the title "Lead... On" gives flow to various interpretations, no matter if they have political, religious or philosophical nature.

Din Brad - Negură Bunget Drummer To Release Debut Album

Din Brad, the folk project of Negură Bunget drummer Negru, is proud to announce "Dor" as the title of its debut album.

According to a press release, "Dor" is a unique Romanian word/concept describing a fundamental characteristic of the local spirit. "Dor" is your heart longing for something you had and then lost, longing for something you wished for yet never had, longing for a person, a place, a time... "Dor" reflects a Romanian mythical time, in the same way as "Plai" reflects a Romanian mythical space. As a first step in the exploration of local traditional soundscapes, the album "Dor" is composed out of two distinct elements. On one side there are authentic Romanian traditional songs, sung by local performers and recorded in their original environment. On the other side there are some personal visions and reinterpretations of Romanian traditional music, performed and recorded in the studio, some featuring some prestigious guests. Both are mended by the same feeling powering them - "dorul". While the first part is the result of years of investigations into what is still alive today from the Romanian musical and spiritual ancestral traditions, the second part is a personal expression influenced by Din Brad's understanding and living of the lands that gave them birth.

The album's release is tentatively scheduled for later this year on Auerbach Tonträger.

Din Brad (meaning "from the fir tree") is Negru's personal project dedicated to a direct exploration of Romanian musical, spiritual and landscape heritage. More info on http://www.myspace.com/dinbrad.

BEM Agency Calls It Quits

BEM Agency was one of the biggest concert organizers in Estonia bringing state of the art rock and metal artists to Estonia and organizing Green Christmas festival in Rakvere each year. Tough times call for tough decisions and BEM Agency has decided to wrap their business up. According to the Gunnar Viese interview given to Eesti Päevaleht Online, the firm does not see any ways to continue. As Gunnar Viese stated, starting from last Autumn the number of concert visitors has dropped about a third. VAT raise at the beginning of the year has also played a big role in ticket pricing and further raise in ticket prices seems to be out of the question. Although there is motivation to continue, BEM Agency sees no way that the situation in this field is going to improve soon. Thus comes the tough decision to quit.

Metal Storm wishes the people of BEM Agency all the best and thanks for all the concerts BEM Agency has organized and helped us cover. Special thanks goes to Gunnar Viese.

Skyfire - New Album Details

Swedish metallers Skyfire have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"After 5 years of computer failure, illness, lineup-changes and countless other obstacles, Swedish progressive death metallers Skyfire will triumphantly return to unleash their long awaited 4th album "Esoteric" this September 8th in North America, 14th in the UK and 18th in Europe via Pivotal Rockordings. Bassist Martin Hanner comments on the band's new album which features 10 epic new songs, some of which utilizing up to 70 individual tracks each:

"For this album, we were heavily inspired by bands like Symphony X and Bal-Sagoth; bands that write epic and catchy songs at the same time. We really thought long and hard about how we can make this new record as epic as possible without it coming off as cheesy and we then carefully began writing the subtle choir and orchestra parts to accompany the already bombastic music. This took quite some time, but we are pleased with the final result. The writing and overall planning for this CD took years and we literally weren't finished writing until right after all the recording was done.

When the album was finished, we had a long discussion with our label regarding what to do about bonus tracks. Both parties agreed that the songs we wrote for this album are too special to be broken up for different territories. So instead we decided to include the old "Within Reach" demos as bonus tracks. These are literally the first legitimate Skyfire recordings ever, and as you'll soon see, the first and only time you'll hear Skyfire with a clean singer. Even though the songwriting and especially the lyrics are immature, we think these songs will be cool for a lot of fans who might have wondered what we sounded like all those years ago. These tracks were never made available to the public until now."

Hanner also reveals the concept behind the stunning artwork for "Esoteric", which was designed by by Pär Olofsson (The Faceless, Psycroptic, Spawn Of Possession) with layout handled by Cult Of Luna's Erik Olofsson:

"The cover is basically a guy who is being initiated by a cult. You can choose to interpret the guy in pain as he is being burned alive by the cultists just so he can join, or you can interpret the guy as having achieved the power he sought, and he is screaming out of bliss and not pain. It relates to the title because a lot of us would think that what he is doing is kind of ridiculous- why would anyone want to join a cult? But people do strange things and they have their own subjective, esoteric sense of understanding that to the rest of us, is strange or crazy. I think we all in some shape or form have esoteric practices that a lot of other people don't 'get', whether it's believing in something or even listening to metal music."

SIG:AR:TYR - New Album Details And New Song Online

The following update was issued on the SIG:AR:TYR's MySpace blog:

"I've been hard at work over the last several months on the third full-length SIG:AR:TYR album. I'm about 2/3 of the way done, and still aiming to be completed by the end of summer.

The new album will be called "Godsaga". Its theme centers around the concept of man transforming into a god, and Odin's sacrifice on the world tree Yggdrasil. This album is not a linear concept album such as "Sailing The Seas Of Fate", but each song deals with these similar themes.

Expect a darker, heavier, more intense and focused album, while still delivering the traditional SIG:AR:TYR hallmarks of previous works."

"Godsaga" tracklist:

01. Nights All Nine
02. Midwinter Sacrifice
03. Blood Of The North
04. Black Sun's Bane
05. Eternal Return
06. Sleep Of The Sword
07. Sonatorrek
08. Godsaga
09. Distant Northern Shore

In other news, I've been asked to put together a playlist of Viking/Folk metal songs for the Blood Eagle Radio podcast show. I hope to play some of my favourites, but also a few more obscure tracks from bands that I think deserve more attention.

As an added bonus, to give everyone a taste of what is to come, we will also be playing a brand new track from the upcoming "Godsaga" album! Stay tuned for news on when this podcast will be released.

Hails to you all this Midsummer,
Till next time,
Daemonskald"

Two days ago, Daemonskald added: "The latest podcast of Blood Eagle Radio is now up, featuring a playlist of some of my favourite pagan/viking/folk metal bands, including a few fellow Canadian bands. At the end of the show is the premiere of a brand new SIG:AR:TYR track "Blood Of The North" from the forthcoming album."

Eyefear - Keyboardist Leaves, Replacement Announced

Original news, posted on 19.06.2009

The band posted the following on their MySpace:

"It is with great regret that our long time keyboard player Sammy Giaccotto has decided to leave Eyefear. We wish him all the best and thank him for his contribution. It's been an awesome ride !!!!!!
On the positive side we will be introducing our new keyboard player in the next few days."

Sammy's statement was posted as well, and reads as follows:

"Life is full of many decisions, and this was by far one of the most difficult I've had to make.

I have decided to leave Eyefear so I may concentrate more on music recording/production and less on live performance, etc. This is not to say that I wont be performing live any more, I'm sure that in the future I will submit to creativity and write and record a studio album to play live once or twice, this project may even include some Eyefear members, who knows!

I'd like to thank all those both here at home and overseas for supporting Eyefear and myself. All my family and friends, bands we've played shows with, both here and overseas, venues, promoters, industry people, media people, soundguys, etc. And of course, the fans and music lovers who go to gigs and support bands like Eyefear, you all rock! All those involved in helping the band in any way, thank you.

Thanks to Claus and Lars from Intromental management, for believing in Eyefear and doing all you can. Keep up the great work guys. Thanks to all the gang at Dockyard1.

A special thanks to the members of Eyefear, Danny, Con, Zain, Rob (ex-bass player) and Evan. I consider you all as family and wont forget the killer times we had both on and off stage! It's been a blast!

I wish you all the best.

Regards,

SammyG"

UPDATE (thanks to 28097)

Australian metallers Eyefear have issued the following update:

"We'd like to welcome the newest member of Eyefear - Seb Schneider.

We are extremely happy to have found someone that not only is he a great musician but will contribute to the writing process for the next album and just as important is a great guy. It really feels like a fresh start with both Seb and Evan now in the band and we are really looking forward to playing some great shows in the next few months and then of course begin writing the next album."

Seb's statement: "As the new keyboard player for Eyefear I feel extremley privileged to have been asked to come on board to replace the awesome sammy giaccotto whose previous work with the band has been phenominal and whose shoes will be challenging to fill.
