Evile - Album Details Revealed

British thrash metallers Evile are ready to reveal to the world their brand new album, "Infected Nations", which is due to be released on September 21st in Europe and on September 22nd in the USA.

Following Evile's 2007 debut, "Enter The Grave" - an homage to the thrash of past - the band are now hitting out and marking a new milestone of their own with "Infected Nations".

Evile frontman Matt Drake comments on "Infected Nations":

"We can't wait for everyone to hear our new album, when we did Enter the Grave two years ago it was made up of songs we had been playing for a few years and some written in the excitement of actually getting to record an album, we were happy to just be making noise but since then we've learnt a few things and we're more interested in making music. Evile fans can expect to hear a more mature offering, an album that concentrates on all aspects of what each member can do; it's a heck of a lot more focused, more satisfying and we're really proud of what we've achieved with it. Russ Russell has helped us to push ourselves to the next level and pull us out of the '80s. The whole retro thing has been cool but we feel it's time for us to leave that behind and stand up for ourselves and show people what we can really
do, but fear not, it IS a thrash metal album, it is a 2009 thrash metal album, and we're dying to blow your minds with it."

"Infected Nations" was produced by Russ Russel (Napalm Death), with the cover art created by Michael Whelan, famous for his sci-fi artworks along with classic album covers from such bands as Sepultura and Obituary. Check out the incredible cover art for "Infected Nations" at this location.

Evile lead guitarist Ol Drake comments on getting Whelan involved:

"When we were thinking about artists we could approach for the album's art, we went through many ideas and avenues. One day I was listening to "Beneath the Remains" by Sepultura, and whilst looking at the artwork, I thought how much that simple yet detailed art really compliments the music. I thought "How good would it be to get Michael Whelan to do an original piece?". I think Matt said something like "Haha yeah, like that'll happen", so as you do, I contacted his manager and got in touch with him. It turned out he was really interested in the concept of the art and jumped right on board. I think an album's art is just as important as the music on the disc, so I couldn't be happier with it. Can't wait to see it on vinyl (with a backpatch maybe?).

Royal Hunt - Bassist Leaves The Band

Bassist Per Schelander has announced he'll be parting ways with Royal Hunt.

Here's his official statement: "After 4 rollercoaster years of music, laughter and good memories I have to leave Royal Hunt - the reason is that I simply can't (due to my obligations in Pain Of Salvation) give RH the time and effort the band deserves. It's been lovely to play with you guys - André, Marcus, Allan, Mark and Maria! It also feels good to pass the torch to such a great player as Andreas Passmark, who will fit the band perfectly. My warmest thanks go to all the fans I met during these last 4 years - you really made me feel welcome when I was the new guy and loved while I was on board!"

Royal Hunt commented: "We'd like to thank Per for 4 wonderful years with us - his dedication, remarkable musical abilities and easy-going personality has been a great asset to us all. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours, all the success which he so rightfully deserves and - while saying goodbye to a talented bass player - looking forward to continuation of a great friendship.

We'd also like to introduce our new friend, an extremely gifted bass player Andreas Passmark (Narnia, Rob Rock, E-Type). Pictures, mp3´s and other details in the "Studio Diary" section."

We are pleased that in Artur we have found a professional, committed and highly amiable musician who is surely a great enrichment for the band. Welcome aboard, Artur!

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all applicants who came from all regions and countries around the world! We are sure that each of you will continue to follow a successful path. Also, we want to again thank our former guitarist AZMO to have helped us out at the Wave Gotik Treffen (Leipzig / D), without whom we would have had to cancel the gig."

Vulgarizer - Debut Album Out Soon

Black Sheep Records are soon releasing "Anodyne", the debut album of Vulgarizer, a five piece death metal band based in Seattle, WA.

Black Sheep Records is a label focused on quality extreme music, specifically in the Seattle, WA area. According to their press release, bands as relentlessly brutal as Vulgarizer are anomalies in their home town of Seattle, a city better known for indie pop and crying than death metal. Vulgarizer weaves intricate musicianship and abrasive growls into a wall of sound that is more likely to break your limbs than your heart. "Anodyne", Vulgarizer's full-length debut on Black Sheep Records is a
compilation of new material as well as rerecordings of the best of their early material. Each track on "Anodyne" will pummel listeners, and will redefine brutality for even the most jaded of metal heads. In short, Vulgarizer is not for the weak. For fans of: Deicide, Suffocation, Hate Eternal, Deeds Of Flesh, Drawn And Quartered.

"Anodyne" cover art] (Explicit Content Warning: not work friendly) and tracklist:

01. Corporeality
02. Unleash Ennui
03. Eviscerate to Illuminate
04. Rape the Weak
05. Infant Inferno
06. Fecal Rites
07. Arise Asunder
08. HN
09. Demonic Congener

Hellfest - Update Straight From The Festival Area

Today is the second day of Hellfest. Many of us (including me, as I must confess) are sunburnt, probably not a single person on the whole festival site slept very well and a substantial part of the festival-goers have been drunk for most of the last 40 hours. In other words; we're having a blast!

Both Pentagram and Bring Me The Horizon had to cancel their set, but further everything seems to be going by plan. The weather is playing along nicely too. It hasn't rained, save a wee little bit on Friday morning, and sometimes a small breeze passes by to cool us down a little.

Only one name has been announced so far, but we've been told that there should be around 100 bands playing at Hellfest in 2010. The one band that has already been announced is nothing less than Immortal though!

We'll bring you a detailed review of the festival, with a lot of pictures of course, in a few days. We've also conducted a couple of interviews that we're really anxious to have your read! Cheers and horns up from Barry, Collin, Cyrille, Ivor, Jeff, (a currently sober) Marcel, Momo, myself, and of course from all of the non-staff Metal Stormers here at Hellfest!

Megadeth - First New Album Details

Heavy metal institution Megadeth have announced "Endgame" as the title of their twelfth studio album. The album is expected to be released in September through Roadrunner Records. It was recorded at the band's self-built brand new studio, Vic's Garage, located near San Diego and named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character.

"Endgame" is being produced by Andy Sneap and Dave Mustaine, who also manned the boards for 2007's "United Abominations". Some track titles include "Headcrusher," "1,320'," "How the Story Ends" and "This Day We Fight!"

"Endgame" boasts the technicality, ferocity and snarl that's synonymous with Megadeth and their leader, Dave Mustaine. It's a violent masterwork that represents Mustaine's best work in nearly two decades. In a musical world dominated by bands that make generic blanket statements, "Endgame" finds Mustaine, once again, making informed and substantial lyrical declarations about the state of the world we live in.

Mustaine himself commented on "Endgame", saying, "Thematically, I've never been known to be a silent bystander in a world that needs our participation. As more is revealed about our former President's legacy, a little-known yet staggeringly frightening document, which was signed into law, named "Endgame", has been uncovered. The album "Endgame" is the most energetic music offering I have penned in over a decade and is far more believable than knowing someone signed "Endgame" - the document - into law. The album is also the perfect 'ass- kicking' music to listen to once you are done reading the aforementioned document!"

In short, it's the Megadeth record fans of classics like "So Far?So Good?So What?" and "Rust in Peace" have been chomping at the bit for.

"This new album is my proudest moment since the famous (or infamous) "Rust in Peace" album," Mustaine also said. "With this album I am also very excited to be introducing my new lead guitarist Chris Broderick to the world. I have always felt lucky to have had top shredders in that position but after touring with Chris in support of my last album, I couldn't wait to get into the studio and see what he could do."

Charon - Will Resume Writing New Material In August

Charon have issued the following update:

"We have together decided to take some time out from song writing and album production. As from today we are taking a two-month break from Charon to keep things meaningful and to search for relaxation and less stressed creative inspiration. We will continue writing songs in August when we will think through our working methods and scan for potential partners. A small break after 15 years of hard work gives all of us a great possibility to do other things and look at things from a distance.

After the release of "Songs for the Sinners", the last album for Spinefarm, we played intensively around Finland and Europe for two years. After extensive touring we have worked countless hours to make the next and the best Charon album ever. The last two years have gone by really fast and at the same time emerging writer's block has not made it easy for us. Lately we have felt that we have lost the ability to write great songs and playing has become forced. We want to be honest in all our work to ourselves and to our fans - and to make an album that we can stand behind. We will not settle for anything less. In addition, personal reasons and other music projects have had their influence on the pace of working.

During the break Charon will not play any shows in Finland or elsewhere. Playing the same setlist all over again has been a burden to us since we want to offer our fans the best experience on shows as well. We will return to the stage 8 August in Raahe, Finland and 4 September at the AngraRock festival in the Azores, Portugal."

Malpractice - Working On New Material

Malpractice have issued the follwing update:

"Hey there folks! We are not dead! After a short break we are back in business! We're happy to inform you, that at the very moment Malpractice is writing new material. Jope and Toni got together on May 21st to check out some riffs and to jam, just to see how much material do we have to start with. And things started to happen really fast. After 1 ½ hours at the rehearsal place we had our very first new Malpractice song done!

During that two day session we recorded about 10 minutes of material and so far everything rocks like hell! So it looks really good... The new stuff is pretty odd, but if you like the "Triangular" stuff, you will definitely love the new stuff as well! We are on fire!

At some point we are gonna release (yes, yet another...) diary about writing, arranging, rehearsing and finally (sometime in the future) recording the new stuff, so you can follow how we proggres in making of the next Malpractice album. But please be patient, it still might take a little while before it's in stores...

Meanwhile, check out the Triangular-Tour Diary, to see how the last leg of that tour went. Toni will add the rest of the diaries there soon and Jope will translate them in english shortly after."
