Edguy - New Album Out In November

Edguy have entered the Gate Studios in Wolfsburg to record the follow-up of their chart breaker album "Rocket Ride". The new album will be produced by Sascha Paeth and is scheduled to be released in November 2008. The album will be entitled "Tinnitus Sanctus".

Tobias Sammet has got the following news in store: "The title just refers to the wall of sound that will bulldoze you. Let's be modest: We have ten extraordinary songs and this new album is gonna be our ticket to the hall of fame alongside with Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and AC/DC. There won't be a hit-single this time, not even a flop-single, haha; not only because most songs are too long for a single, but also because for a single we had to produce way more stuff, lose money and need a time frame to release it. The album would come later then and that would suck. For the record: Musically, we don't go back to the roots. It's not the "Legacy of Mandrake part 2" and it's not a little brother of Rocket Ride either. It's a new album and we've set off to new horizons once more! The stuff sounds really broad, very anthemic, heavy and ballsy. We've kept our trademarks and still there are a lot of elements that are different to anything we've done before. I know what some fans may think, because if my favourite bands would have come up with statements like that I would have been scared to death, but in our case I am sure this could be the album we'll be measured by in the future."

Obscura - Putting Finishing Touches On New Album Recordings

German death metallers Obscura are currently recording their new album with producer V. Santura (Dark Fortress) at The Crypt Studios in Germany. Obscura bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling (ex-Pestilence) comments: "I just got back from Landschut, Germany, where we've finished most of the recordings for the new album. I'm very excited about the new Obscura material; it sounds extremely brutal and technical compared with Pestilence's "Spheres" (1993). We are looking forward to play most of the new songs during the upcoming shows."

Amon Amarth - Bloodshed Over Bochum, Album Title Revealed

Amon Amarth have posted following statement:

''We have had plans of doing a smaller club show tour for quite some time now where we would mainly play older songs, but that has been very hard to pull off. So when this idea was brought to us of re-visiting the 4 first full lenght albums at Bochum in Germany we were all up for it. This will be a once in a life time chance for us to play and our fans to experience all the old songs that we don't have room for in the setlist anymore, but are still too good to not play! Of course we'll also play songs from the new upcoming album, as well as "With Oden On Our Side" and "Fate Of Norns".
Since these shows will be unique we thought we could might as well record the shows too!

We are thrilled over this event and look forward to the shows. It will be some hard work and preparation playing around 50 -60 different songs in 4 days. Some songs we haven't played for a very, very long time and some we have never played live at all. But challenges are something that encourages us!''

4 Evenings - 4 Shows - 4 Albums
Zeche Bochum, Germany

28.12.2008 Once Sent From The Golden Hall
29.12.2008 The Avenger
30.12.2008 The Crusher
31.12.2008 Versus The World

Apart from playing the 4 albums in their entirety each night there will be a best of mix from "Fate Of Norns", "With Oden On Our Side" and of course the new upcoming album!

+ Meet and greet with the band
+ Special merchandise sold at each show
+ New Years Eve Party on the 31.12

Carcass - Announce Last Show Ever

Reunited grindcore/death metal legends Carcasss will play their only UK date headlining the Damnation Festival 2008. The death metal legends will perform their first show on home soil in 14 years on Saturday, November 22nd at Leeds University. And the band yesterday hinted it could be the last show they ever play, wrapping up a successful reunion tour headlining some of the biggest metal stages across the globe.

Frontman Jeff Walker said: "Well, we enjoyed making you sweat? this is gonna be the ONLY UK show this year, and quite possibly your last chance to EVER catch us live! You Southerners are gonna have to get your shoes dirty and make your way 'oop' North to Leeds! To quote Herschell Gordon Lewis 'Prepare To Die!'"

Damnation Festival director Gavin McInally added: "The exclusive booking of Carcass is the biggest coup in British metal in 2008 and we're delighted to host their return to home soil. The fact that it could be the last time they ever take the stage together, makes the prospect of seeing them headline Damnation even more special. After a 14-year break, it's almost impossible to predict just how large the demands for tickets will be, so without the cheesy sales pitch, pawn your wedding ring or steal from close friends - just make sure you grab a brief! And stayed tuned for further announcements as the finest, doom, grind, black, rock and heavy metal completes what will be the finest day of music the UK will witness in 2008."

Tickets for Damnation will go on sale this Friday, June 27th at 9am. For more information, you can check here.
