Celtic Frost - Tom Gabriel Fischer Leaves The Band (UPDATED)

A very brief statement was posted on Celtic Frost's website states the following:

"Celtic Frost singer and guitarist Tom Gabriel Fischer has left Celtic Frost due to the irresolvable, severe erosion of the personal basis so urgently required to collaborate within a band so unique, volatile, and ambitious."

UPDATED on 11 April (thanks to SlaytallicA):

Celtic Frost singer and guitarist Tom Gabriel Fischer talks about his departure from the band. Here's his statement:

"I am devastated beyond description, and I am infinitely disappointed. As the one member of Celtic Frost who is exposed most dramatically to the feedback by our audiences and the media, I feel troubled and humiliated about being unable to honor the enormous goodwill extended to Celtic Frost during the past few years and meet the justified expectations of our fans.

I have always seen the Monotheist album as a mere beginning, and a tame one at that. My mind and spirit are full of energy, creativity, and ideas. Celtic Frost had become the unreserved focus of my life for the second time. I was looking forward immeasurably to working on the next Celtic Frost album. To me, it needed to be darker, heavier, and more experimental than Monotheist.

And yet, Celtic Frost consisted of three individuals, and I was only one of them. In the end I had to concede to myself that there was no other option.

My friendship with and respect for Martin Eric Ain remain unaffected. Moreover, I am in the process of assessing my options to eventually complete, record, and release some of the ideas I originally created for Celtic Frost and the planned next album in the course of the past few years, and to take our distinctive music out on the road again.

There is no way back."

Adagio - Parts Ways With Vocalist

Vocalist Gus Monsanto has posted the following announcement on his myspace page:

Brazilian singer/guitarist/songwriter Gus Monsanto has parted ways with French prog-metal band Adagio after four years of hard work, which included a successful album and a European tour.

"We parted ways friendly. It has been an overwhelming experience to fill David Readman's shoes and I will take with me the great people I met on the road, the friends I made during this period, the countries I have visited. The road stories and great music I made with Stephan, Franck, Eric and Kevin will not be forgotten. They will carry on as the archangels in black they are, as all of us are Metal Commandos," Monsanto said.

Gus' departure from Adagio will allow him to focus in other hard rock and heavy metal projects.

"There's a lot on my plate right now. June 08th will see the release of "The Lightseekers" CD, which is a really great French hard rock band I have been working with. I also have a spankin' new project called Zyon Vega, with fellow Aquaria members Bruno Agra (drums), Fernando Giovanetti (bass) and Alberto Kury (keyboards), plus Atlantida's guitarist, Alexandre Macedo, who's been pursuing this new chapter with me," Monsanto said.

Samples of Gus' latest efforts are available at this location

In other news, Gus is in advanced talks to join a well-known U.S. hard rock band replacing a world famous vocalist.

"I cannot tell the name of the band or anything else right now but I will disclose details as talks progress," Gus said.

Finally, Gus Monsanto is in the final stages of his first experience as a producer, with Brazilian metal band Skyrion, whose album is due out shortly.

It was recorded at Giuseppe Orlando's Outer Sound Studios (Necrodeath, Novembre, Klimt 1918 and many more) and mastered at Finnvox Studios by the well known engineer Mika Jussila (HIM, Children Of Bodom, Nightwish, Sentenced etc.).
The entire artwork Link] was made by Gyula Havancsak (Annihilator, Destruction, Benedictum, Elvenking, Grave Digger and more)."

"Mare Nostrum" final tracklisting:

01. Mare Nostrum
02. Neon Karma
03. Legacy Of The Snake
04. Emet
05. The Castaway
06. Scorn
07. And The Wind Shall Scream My Name
08. Dimension: Hate
09. Stormlord

Also, according to the band: "the journalists that had the chance to listen to it during the studio reports describe "Mare Nostrum" as a mix of our first two albums, "Supreme Art Of War" and "At The Gates Of Utopia", played and arranged with a superior maturity and technical skill."
"We just can say that we love our new songs, they sound epic like in the old times without forgetting the style of "The Gorgon Cult".
There are a lot of new solutions that we never used before like sitar, folk parts, gloomy clean vocals, "Mediterrean" ethnic instruments and an amazing drum work. Our singer Cristiano has sealed his best performance so far, going from high pitch screaming to earthquaking growls, while the keyboard work, now up to our guitar/keyboard player Gianpaolo, is the most Epic thing we've ever done in ten years. Expect a bombastic yet furious avalanche of Extreme Epic Metal, we know that some people has been waiting for this since a long time, we will not disappoint them."

Farmakon, Distorted - New USA Releases Due Out From Candlelight's Cult Series

Candlelight Records have announced that Tuesday, April 29 is the US release date for new releases from Finland's Farmakon - "Robin", and Israel's Distorted - "Voices From Within". These two new studio efforts coincide with Candlelight's progressing cult series taking otherwise unheard European bands and delivering them across the pond to the good old US of A. This is a specially-priced product line that Candlelight conceived of, to help in introducing up-and-coming international artists to the potential American audiences. The series services artists of various sub-genres and aims towards providing a "fan-base for which the artists can grow and connect." Basically, a clever marketing trick. The good point, however, is the possible marriage of these otherwise unheard of bands to the US audience.

New tracks from both albums by Farmakon and Distorted have been posted on Candlelight USA's MySpace page since April 1!

Tampere-based Farmakon saw the release of their debut album ("A Warm Glimpse", Earache) back in 2003. Quickly making waves through prog metal circles the band make their long-awaited return. The new album "Robin" witnesses the band experimenting with darker sounds and their trademark twists. Released late least year in Europe, US fans now can enjoy "Robin".

Track List for "Robin":

01. Time-Tables
02. Coma September'
03. Sixty-Nine
04. Faint Light
05. Recondite
06. Wings
07. A Temporary Death
08. Helpless
09. Monster
10. Outro

Distorted are a band of keen curiosity. The Bat-Yam quartet's dual-vocal attack is articulated by their precise musicianship and classic metal composition. The band made their first appearance outside their native country October 2007 as part of the Metal Female Voices Festival performing alongside Leaves' Eyes, Epica, After Forever and more. The band will appeal to fans of Within Temptation, Madder Mortem, How Like A Winter, The Foreshadowing and more.

Track List for "Voices From Within":

01. One Last Breath
02. What Remains
03. Voices From Within
04. Fading
05. A Soft Whisper
06. Reveal My Path
07. Escaping The Mind-Grid
08. Obscure
09. Theom
10. Consistent Duality
11. Letting Go

Candlelight Cult series includes release from Furze, Mithras, Pantheon-I (featuring members of 1349), Throne Of Katarsis, and others.
