Mortal Sin - Part Ways With Guitarist, In Writing Process

Australian metallers Mortal Sin have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Sorry I have not been on here in a while, it's been a busy couple of months since we got back from our South American tour, which was very satisfying but incredibly hard. Many thanks to all the metalheads who came to our shows, you made us feel very welcome and supported our music way more than we could have ever imagined. Thank you. To all the organisers, promoters and townfolk, we really appreciate all the work you put into making the tour a success for Mortal Sin. We certainly hope we can make our way back to your beautiful countries again sometime soon!

2010 arrived and Mortal Sin decided it was about fucking time we got our arses into gear and started writing some songs for a new album. We are notoriously slow writers, but many of you who may have heard the new song "Deny" that we have been road testing at our shows, will agree that we could be onto something special here. Like many thrash bands we feel strongly about our thrash roots and want to create an album of pure thrash. If we could combine Kreator's Hordes Of Chaos, Testament's Formation Of The Damnation and Overkill's newie Ironbound into a huge melting pot, that would be the kind of album we wanna make!

Unfortunately though our great friend and Maestro guitarist Mick Sultana has decided to call it a day, citing personal reasons for his decision to leave the band. We love you like a brother Mick and we've had some awesome shows with you, we wish you the best for whatever you choose to do. Your songs will be in the heads of our fans for a long long time to come. Fucking legend!

On the home front, my brother had a successful kidney transplant the day we left Australia for our South American tour. He is feeling great and less than three months after the operation is back at work. Fucking legend!

Not so good news is today I found out my nephew took his own life yesterday. Tragic, very tragic loss of a 22yr olds life! RIP Keiran! Hopefully all the pain is now left behind.

Seeya,
Mat."

Charred Walls Of The Damned - New Album Streaming, Video Online

As Charred Walls Of The Damned prepare for their self-titled debut album out February 2nd 2010 - the group is gearing up for their official release by giving fans the chance to listen to the album in its entirety via Noisecreep.com. The metal site will host the stream Monday January 25th to Monday February 1st so be sure to head over and check it out.

Richard Christy comments; "Well, the time is now here and I'm so psyched for the fans to be able to finally hear the full album! I'm so proud of the metal that Tim, Steve, Jason and I have made and I know that our passion definitely shines through in the music! We had so much fun making this album and now it's time for all of you fellow Metalheads to have fun listening to it."

Despite his hectic work schedule, last year Christy announced that he was putting together a new musical project through Metal Blade Records called Charred Walls of the Damned. The group's lineup reads like a who's who of metal with Tim "Ripper" Owens Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Beyond Fear] on vocals, Steve DiGiorgio Sadus, Death, Testament, Iced Earth, Quo Vadis, Dragonlord] playing bass and Trivium (among many others) producer Jason Suecof Capharnaum, Crotchduster] handling the guitar duties. To say that the anticipation for this band is high would be a major understatement.

The band's new video for the track "Ghost Town" can be watched below. "I'm so psyched about how amazing the "Ghost Town" video turned out," Christy told Noisecreep over lunch recently in Hollywood, CA. Directed by Mike Schiff from M.A.S. Productions, the apocalyptic clip just bleeds metal. "We were able to film in one of my favorite haunted houses in Pennsylvania called Shocktoberfest, which was really exciting for me because anyone who knows me personally knows I'm a massive Halloween and haunted house fan."

Slayer - US And European Tour Cancelled

Due to Tom Araya's back surgery, Slayer have been forced to cancel all of their immediate tour plans through April. This includes the American and Canadian Carnage tour dates that were set to kick off on January 18, as well as the band's European headline tour scheduled for March and April. The Slayer camp is working hard to reschedule dates for later this year.

Here's the statement from Slayer's manager Rick Sales: "Tom gave various medical treatments more than a fair shot, but they just haven't handled the problem, so he's biting the bullet and is scheduled for back surgery at the end of this month."

This difficult decision made by the band's bassist/vocalist Tom Araya means the cancellation of Slayer's immediate tour plans that include the American and Canadian Carnage Tour dates that were set to kick off on January 18, as well as the band's UK/European headline tour scheduled for March and April. Booking agents for both Slayer and Megadeth are already hard at work rescheduling the tour dates; tickets already purchased for these shows will be honored at the rescheduled dates.

The headbanging Araya, known for aggressively swinging his long mane of hair while performing, began experiencing back problems while on the band's Australian/New Zealand/Japanese tour last October. In spite of his rapidly increasing pain and discomfort, he carried on with the tour, but immediately upon returning home saw an orthopedic specialist who diagnosed a cervical radiculopathy. The rocker initially did not want to take the major surgery route, so the specialist recommended a series of minimally-invasive procedures. While those procedures have resulted in some improvement, Araya continues to deal with intermittent bouts of severe pain, numbness and muscle spasms. The surgical procedure that Araya will undergo, called an anterior cervical discectomy with fusion, is a relatively routine practice and the recovery rate is excellent.

Sales added, "As unfortunate as this is for so many people - the Megadeth and Testament camps, the concerts' promoters, and, of course, the fans - Tom's health is the number one priority, and this has to happen."

Charred Walls Of The Damned - First Preview Of Debut Album Online

As Charred Walls Of The Damned prepare for their self-titled debut album out February 2nd 2010 - the group is gearing up for their official release by unleashing a "radio spot" created by Richard Christy (Death, Iced Earth, Control Denied, Acheron) himself. The "radio spot" that is being streamed as of tomorrow December 1st via the band's MySpace page features clips of the first single "Ghost Town", taken from the band's debut album, Charred Walls of the Damned.

"I am beyond excited about how the Charred Walls of the Damned album turned out. Tim "Ripper" Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Beyond Fear), Steve DiGiorgio (Sadus, Death, Testament, Iced Earth, Quo Vadis, Dragonlord) and Jason Suecof (Capharnaum, Crotchduster]) all did an amazing job and I can't wait for people to hear it! The songs are super heavy and melodic at the same time, and I think my fellow Metalheads will be pumped when they hear the album" comments drummer and founding member Richard Christy.

Vocalist Tim "Ripper Owens adds, "Well... I must say, I'm not sure what people are expecting from this CD. I mean it's coming from the mind of a drummer and we all know the crazy things he does on the Howard Stern show. That being said... THIS WILL BLOW YOU AWAY, it is a Great CD! I love it!! All the way across the board... Nice Job Richard (and Carlos the Lizard)"

Charred Walls Of The Damned recorded a cover of the song "Nice Dreams" by the Minneapolis metal band Powermad as a bonus track for the Japanese release of the band's debut album. US fans will have the chance to buy this track as well, as "Nice Dreams" will be made available on iTunes the day the album is released in the states, February 2nd 2010.

"I've been a huge fan of Powermad's classic 1989 album Absolute Power since it came out. I wanted to do a cover song that I loved and at the same time, one that a lot of people probably have not heard. Absolute Power has been out of print for some time now so I'm sure the song "Nice Dreams" will be new to a lot of people, but will also bring back some great memories for metalheads like me who love the song and who love Powermad" explains Christy.

Charred Walls Of The Damned cover art] tracklisting:

01. Ghost Town
02. From The Abyss

Angelus Apatrida - Sign Deal With Century Media Records

Century Media Records proudly announces the worldwide signing of the Thrash Metal band Angelus Apatrida, the most promising and threatening metal band from Spain.

This young commando was born in the Spanish town of Albacete in the year 2000 and perfectly combines both the aggression and the melodic edge of classic 80's Thrash Metal with a breathtaking modern southern fury that results in an impressive blend of rage, attitude and a high level of technical skills, rarely seen with young bands like this.

Angelus Apatrida comment on the signing as follows: "We are extremely enthusiastic about this opportunity to show around what we are made of! It's an honour for us to become part of the Century Media Records family, one of the labels with the best reputation worldwide and a home to some of the bands we admire the most and grew up listening to!"

Angelus Apatrida's band name mixes Spanish and Latin language and can be translated into english as "stateless" or "renegade" angels. Influenced by the early Bay Area Thrash Metal and N.W.O.B.H.M. scenes and more specifically bands like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Anthrax, Overkill, Pantera, Testament or Annihilator, Angelus Apatrida have crafted their career in their Spanish homeland so far with two independent album releases, Evil Unleashed (2006) and Give 'Em War (2007), as well as countless of live-appearances on larger national festivals (Lorca Rock, Alternavigo, Metalway Festival, etc.) and the clubs of most of the country's larger cities with acts like Barón Rojo, Destruction, Sepultura and many more.

Angelus Apatrida are currently finishing the songwriting process for their Century Media debut album, tentatively entitled Clockwork and to be recorded in January 2010. In the meantime, Angelus Apatrida will be supporting labelmates Arch Enemy on their upcoming dates in Spain and Portugal alongside Abigail Williams. Here are the exact dates:

Arch Enemy, Abigail Williams, Angelus Apatrida: Tyrants Of Evil Tour 2009

01.12.2009 - Madrid - Spain - Sala Heineken
02.12.2009 - Sevilla - Spain - Sala Q
04.12.2009 - Lisboa - Portugal - Incrivel Almadense

Slayer - American Carnage Tour With Megadeth, Testament

Slayer. Megadeth. Two names synonymous with fierce, crunching power. Two bands whose histories are inevitably intertwined in defining the thrash/metal genre. Individually, their respective prowess and accomplishments are impressive; but together, they're brutal and unstoppable. Megadeth and Slayer will join forces to co-headline "American Carnage," the most blistering, the most explosive, and the most eagerly anticipated mega-tour of the winter - and you do not want to miss it.

"American Carnage" will kick off on January 18 in Seattle, WA for a 26-date trek across North America that will include the six Canadian dates postponed earlier this month. Tickets for most shows go on sale this Friday, November 20. Ticketmaster is offering a special presale for most shows from Wednesday November 18 at 10am until Thursday November 19 at 10pm.

"American Carnage" is the first time that Slayer and Megadeth will have toured the U.S. together since 1991's epic "Clash of the Titans" tour. To celebrate that and in recognition of the tough economic times that many of their fans are having, Megadeth and Slayer have decided to roll back the price of a chunk of tickets at every U.S. show to the "1991 price" of $10.00. These specially-priced tickets will be limited and when they're gone, they're gone. Megadeth has also teamed with iloveallaccess.com to provide an Ultimate Fan Package including premium seats, meet and greets, pre-show parties and more.

In addition, Testament - who was also on the "Clash of the Titans" bill, will be Special Guests on the entire tour, marking the first time that all three bands have shared a stage together in more than 18 years, and making this a "must see" metal event.

Both Megadeth and Slayer will hit the road supporting new albums: Megadeth's 2009 album, Endgame, while Slayer's World Painted Blood, the band's 10th studio venture, hit stores November 3. Testament's The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition, will be released on February 23, 2010, with special unreleased bonus tracks.

Slayer and Megadeth have already massacred territories together outside of the U.S. - first with four explosive dates in June, 2009 across Western Canada - "Canadian Carnage" - marking the first time the bands had shared a stage anywhere in 18 years; and then six co-headlining "Carnage" dates in Australia followed in October.

According to various Canadian press outlets last summer: "It was a night of thrash impossible to trash..." "Tales about war, death, destruction, Satan, aliens and serial killers have never been so much fun..." "The two heavy metal heavyweights ...went head-to-head on a level playing field. Both bands brought their 'A' game. And the results were anything but pretty - unless you include pretty freakin' loud and pretty freakin' awesome."

"That's right! The Kings Of Metal are hitting the road again. Marking Manowar's first world tour since 1998, Death To Infidels World Tour 2010 is sure to be a grand testament to one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time. Don't miss the chance to see Manowar in all their glory as they take up the reins for their first globetrotting assault in more than a decade.

Tickets for some of the shows in Germany are already on sale! This is the first time Manowar goes on an indoor tour of Germany since 2007. Sigh - New Album In January

Sigh mainman Mirai Kawashima has issued the following update:

"Finally, here we reveal the cover artwork for our eighth studio album, "Scenes From Hell". It was designed by Eliran Kantor (Testament, Mekong Delta, Gwar, etc). We're truly proud of the artwork. This is the perfect descrition of what the album is about - namely War, Hell and Death!

As reported before, it features a real string quartet and real orchestral instruments such as trumpet, trombone, french horn, tuba, flute, clarinet and so on, and it turned out to be the perfect score to the scenes from hell. We can assure you that this is by far the most grandiose and powerful album by Sigh. Also, the album features the great aural cooperations from David Tibet (Current 93) and Kam Lee."

Suicidal Angels - Win Rock The Nation Award And Sign With Nuclear Blast

Suicidal Angels have issued the following statement:

"We are more than happy and proud to announce that we won the Rock The Nation Award 2009 and sign a deal with Nuclear Blast. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everybody that voted for us and of course good luck to all the bands that participated in this contest!

Our new album "Sanctify The Darkness" will be out on the 20th of November so stay tuned for more infos and as always prepare yourselves to be thrashed!"

Below you can read the official statement of Rock The Nation:

"The winner takes it all", true to the motto Rock The Nation appealed to a band contest of a particular kind. The Austrian management and booking company takes care of the needs of such bands as Deathstars, Legion Of The Damned, Sabaton, Behemoth, Kataklysm, Leaves' Eyes and Eluveitie. They offered a lucrative all inclusive package for the winner, with a long term labeldeal with Boomer Entertainment and the leading heavy metal company Nuclear Blast Records (Nightwish, Hammerfall, Testament, Dimmu Borgir and many more), and them of course.

This unique competition was presented by all leading European metal magazines, like the German, Italian, Spanish and Greek Metal Hammer, the British Terorizer, Metallian (France), Scream (Norway), Rock Tribune (Belgium), Spark (Czech Republic), and the Dutch webzine Lordsofmetal.nl.

"This high interest blew all our expectations", says Rock The Nation boss Stefan Hattinger. More than 1.200 bands from all over the world applied, hundreds of thousands votes have been counted. "It made the RTN-Award a tremendous success and proves that this is what the bands have been waiting for."

The 100 best votings were then judged by an inner circle composed of members from Rock The Nation, Boomer Entertainment and Nuclear Blast. In the end there wasn't only one, but two winners! Suicidal Angels from Greece and Steelwing from Sweden. "We love those two bands so much, that we couldn't decide us against one of them, so we had to make two winners", says Hattinger.

Regardless of the experts opinion, both acts were under the top ten of the fan votings and finally conviced with their unique and overwhelming songwriting. They simply made it! "Both bands really deserve our biggest respect, it would be cool if everybody out there sends his and her congrats & comments. Add them to your friends and see what will happen with both bands in the coming months", says Hattinger with big plans in mind. The greek Thrash metal formation Suicidal Angels play a merciless riff massacre and a perfect mix of old Kreator and Sepultura like sounds.
