Nocturnal Rites - New Album Ready

Sweden's Nocturnal Rites have set "The 8th Sin" as the title of their new album, due in Europe on May 28 via Century Media Records.

According to a press release, the mystery of the album title can now be revealed: the new album is, of course, full of lust, gluttony and pride, but stands above of any wrath, greed, sloth or envy - the 8th not that deadly sin, however, is a deluxe blend of melodic metal and hard rock done the Nocturnal Rites way!

"The 8th Sin" offers a slightly more modern sound with harsh riffs, huge choruses and the band's classic guitar extravaganza. But don't be afraid of any bad surprises, the new album is 110% Nocturnal Rites from start to finish!

"The 8th Sin" was produced by the band themselves, co-produced by Shep and mixed by Mattias Eklund and Nocturnal Rites at Toontrack Music in Umeå, Sweden.

The tracklisting goes as follows:

01. Call Out To The World
02. Never Again
03. Not The Only
04. Tell Me
05. Not Like You
06. Leave Me Alone
07. Till I Come Alive
08. Strong Enough
09. Me
10. Pain & Pleasure
11. Fools Parade

Whitesnake - New Album In October

Whitesnake mainman David Coverdale has issued the following update:

"Just a quickie to let you know that all is ship shape and moving along wonderfully. I am thrilled, erect nipples an' all, with the new songs and very excited to be presenting them to you later this year. SPV's wish-list is for an October release, so, we're not having to pressure ourselves with too extreme a deadline. God Willing, those days be gone. As far as touring, it appears this will also be late summer, as the entire world is out there on the road through the summer, doing their very best to seduce y'all. My US agent told me that every single amphitheater in every major city in the States has a 'name' act headlining every night of the week this season...so, unless any significant touring opportunity presents itself I think we'll concentrate on making a cracking record that will make us all proud.

I see some of you were curious if I had ever met Mr. Brad Delp, who sadly, recently passed away. No... I didn't have the pleasure, I'm sorry to say. I only crossed paths with Tom Scholz when we played the Texas Jam together way back when - a tale I will share at a later date. My sincere condolences to Brad's Family - a tragic loss.. It's interesting you should ask about Glenn (Hughes).

I was talking with Doug (Aldrich - guitar) recently that I was thinking that some of the new songs could use some of Glenn's extraordinary singing, but, just a thought at this time. I haven't discussed anything with him. We shall have to see how that goes, so please don't be holding me to anything. Glenn and I were in touch recently, with him telling me about his tour in Russia. He tells me there is great interest in a DP Mark 3 reunion over there."

Metallica - ...And Recording For All

The following update has been posted on metallica.com today (14 March):

"Metallica left the comfort of HQ this week to descend upon the greater Los Angeles area to begin recording their 9th original album. This is the first time they've recorded outside of the Bay Area since they spent an eternity at One-On-One Studios recording The Black Album in '90 and '91. The last couple days have been devoted to each band member working out the right sounds, including Lars who remembered to turn on the snare and Kirk who played a solo! The big, shiny red button was finally pushed today - and the wait begins."

Some pictures of the band recording the follow-up of 2003's "St. Anger", can be found at this location.
