Dark Tranquillity - New Album Details

Swedish Melodic Death Metal pioneers Dark tranquillity has completed work on their highly anticipated new album, "Fiction", set for an April 2007 release.

The album was mixed by Tue Madsen (Himsa, The Haunted) and encompasses all of the elements on which the band built their career: thought-provoking lyrics, shredding guitar work, captivating melodies and sheer brutality.

"Fiction" contains the following numbers:

01. Nothing To No One
02. The Lesser Faith
03. Terminus (Where Death Is Most Alive)
04. Blind At Heart
05. Icipher
06. Inside The Particle Storm
07. Empty Me
08. Misery's Crown
09. Focus Shift here]
10. The Mundane And The Magic

11. Japanese bonus track: A Closer End
12. Instrumental Australian bonus track: Winter Triangle

Niklas Sundin (guitars) shares his thoughts on the new album: "Tue Madsen did a fantastic job with the sound, and the result is diverse and exciting enough to satisfy even the most critical of listeners. The 10 songs are extremely varied and showcase all facets of the D.T. experience while breaking new ground as well as reviving some elements that haven't been featured in D.T. songs since the early years. At the moment, we're putting the finishing touches to the packaging as well as preparing for the recording of the 'Focus Shift' and 'Misery's Crown' promo videos. Directing is once again Roger Johansson, who worked with us on the videos for 'Character'."

In late March 2007, Dark Tranquillity kick off the touring cycle for Fiction with a massive co-headlining U.S. run with The Haunted and Into Eternity followed by European summer festivals and a full length tour in autumn.

Vicious Rumors - Part Ways With Bassist

Original Vicious Rumors bassist Dave Starr has once again left the band as of January 23, 2007.
Dave played bass on the first five Vicious Rumors albums (and was featured in several other Vicious Rumors DVDs, MTV videos, and band compilations). He returned to the band in 2005 to record the new "Warball" CD in 2006.

Commented Starr: "My history with Vicious Rumors goes back nearly 23 years, and in many ways the band will always be a part of me. However, it's time for me to concentrate 100% of my time and energy on my own music, my own band, and playing guitar. My band Wildestarr (along with incredible vocalist London Wilde) is something I have been working on for a few years now, and I took time off from this to work with Vicious Rumors again and record the "Warball" album. I am happy with the way the new Vicious Rumors CD came out, and thrilled with the response it has received so far from the fans and press. It was great to play and record with Vicious Rumors again. I remain on good terms with everyone in the band and wish them well in the future."

Vicious Rumors released "Warball" in the U.S. in October. Two short samples from "Warball" ? 'Sonic Rebellion' and 'Mr. Miracle' ? are available at the band's official website.

Steel Attack - US Tour Postponed

Swedish Power Metal band Steel Attack have posted the following message on their official website:

"Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have been forced to postpone the up-coming US tour scheduled for March this year. Some of the venues brought the financial terms of the shows into dispute at the last second. In order to protect the financial interest of the band and avoid a loss that would have been the logical consequence of these lowered fees. Hopefully, these shows will be rescheduled a.s.a.p. at different locations."
