Sebastian Bach - To Open For Guns N' Roses In Europe

Sebastian Bach (ex-Skid Row) has posted the following SebastianBlog at his official website:

"Sometimes, in life, you make true friends. A true friend is someone whom you can see and then not see, but when you see them again, it is like no time has passed at all. A true friend is someone whom you can laugh with, talk with, hang out with, rock with, and confide in. Then there is the friend who gives you so much, you can't express in words how much they mean to you. When I look back on my life, I have to say that one of my true friends is Mr. W. Axl Rose.

As everyone now knows, when Guns N' Roses made their triumphant return to New York City a few weeks ago, Axl was cool enough to invite me on stage all four nights to sing with him the Guns N' Roses song of my choice, which happens to be 'My Michelle'. During the NYC shows Axl asked me if I wanted to fly with him to Europe to duet with him in England at Donington and Hammersmith. Of course I said YES and then I mentioned to him the recording of the new CD 'Angel Down' and how much it would mean for our band to open some Guns N' Roses shows. Axl's response was to offer the band the whole European tour.

To say that my mind is blown, or that I am thankful for this opportunity, is so superfluous. I really cannot express how much this means to me. Axl Rose is the most honest, genuine, straight-up, and talented person I have ever met in this business, and for him to give my band the chance to rock in front of all his fans is something I will never forget. He is now singing better than ever! My personal favorite new Guns N' Roses song is 'I.R.S.'. Last night I jammed with him at Rock Am Ring in Germany in front of 70,000 people after a two-day plane journey which put me in four countries in one day! It is gonna be a truly killer summer playing on tour with Guns N' Roses and recording the new CD as well!!!
See ya soon Europe and Japan!"

Upcoming Sebastian Bach tour dates are as follows:

June
4 - Milan, Italy at Gods Of Metal Festival (duet with Axl)
7 - London, UK at Hammersmith Apollo (duet with Axl)
9 - Dublin, Ireland at RDS Arena (duet with Axl)
11 - Donington, UK at Download Festival (duet with Axl)
13 - Prague, Czech Republic at Sazka Arena**
15 - Warszawa, Poland at Stadion Legii**
17 - Burgenland, Austria at NovaRock Pannonia Feilds II**

July
15 - Kavarna, Bulgaria at Rock In Kavarna (w/ W.A.S.P.)
18 - Sheffield, UK at Hallam Fm Arena**

Accursed Dawn - Calls It Quits

Speed/death metal outfit Accursed Dawn has officially broken up. Formed in 2002, the band released an album with Pop Faction Records last year. Here's a statement from vocalist Brett Coverdale :

"Well, here we are, exactly 1 year since the last show we played under the Accursed Dawn moniker. To use the term "broken-up" to describe the band's current situation would be sufficient, but there's more to it than that. When things went south last March in Alabama, we all walked away from the fray a little confused, a little angry, and mostly just tired of being around each other everyday. There will certainly not be any finger pointing, no one was or is innocent. These things happen, often to the best of friends & band mates. Last May, Chuck, Will, and myself went out again with our friends J and Alex acting as fill-ins; and we all had such a blast being out with our friends in The Knife Trade again. It was a pinnacle of sorts for the remaining members.

Upon moving to Richmond, we set out on a modest, and somewhat lackadaisical search for new members. We practiced with several drummers; but none appeared to have both the technical prowess we desired, and the personality that was imperative to making the group a cohesive unit again. On the guitar front, we were more than happy with our newly found friend Joel Hager, who proved to be a very worthy shredder. Trying to get the ball rolling again from a virtual standstill has proven to be too much for us to do. Life is moving all around us, and work and everything else that goes into being in your mid-20's will no longer wait for us to come home. We do not have the time or energy necessary to devote to the band anymore, and we feel that it would be an injustice to soldier on half-heartedly. It's safe to say that any touring incarnation of A.D. has been laid to rest. This is the most painful part to say, for most of us never wanted anything more than to play to as many different people in as many different cities as possible. It's amazing how easy it is to achieve your goals and live your dreams by buying a van for $600.

We have all moved on in other musical endeavors, some in completely opposite directions from one another. Brian S. is drumming for The Knife Trade now, Brian B. is playing guitar for Baroness, Will is playing bass for Valkyrie, Joel is playing bass for Monarch, and I am doing instrumental stuff on my computer in my spare time (Inherent Latency). Chuck is in the process of tweaking the last 2 songs that we wrote as a whole, as well as arranging a lengthy opus from the riffs we were working on for the last year. He hopes to record this in the near future, with the aid of friends from groups in the area. We still have plenty of merchandise here in our closet, and are offering all of it at less than cost. PLEASE tell anyone that might be interested in any of our leftovers to contact us, we will most likely take anything offered.

Dark Tranquillity - New Album Details Outlined

Swedish melodic death metallers Dark Tranquillity have posted the following update:

No updates for a while, but rest assured that we haven't been resting on our laurels. We're insanely busy with the songwriting for the next album, and it's now decided that the recordings will start in October. More details about studios (yes, that's in plural), working partners and so forth will follow as soon as everything is 100% confirmed.

As for the music itself, the material we're working on covers the whole gamut from laid back acoustic sections to furious blastbeats, so you can all look forward to a diverse and challenging offering. Most songs are still in the embryonic stages, so it'll be interesting to see how things develop.

Some media goodness to make the wait for the next magnum opus easier: A 15-minute video clip of our gig at the Fury Fest in France (June 25, 2005) has been uploaded to our MySpace page. As usual with these homemade recordings, the quality itsn't stellar, but it gives a good enough representation of the show.

Also, we found an old version of "Away, Delight, Away" from an 8-track promo recording we did in our rehearsal studio back in the spring of 1994. This is an early incarnation of the song that differs slightly from the version that ended up on the "Of Chaos And Eternal Night" MCD. The promo itself also contained "Punish My Heaven" and "The Gallery", and was sent out to a select few record labels and tape trading contacts.

Check the stuff out: www.myspace.com/dtofficial.

I can promise, that Mask Of Sanity will be a 100% Sinner album, with a lot of harmony guitars and all trademarks of the Sinner history! Napalm Death vocalist Barney Greenway commented, "After working our arses off on new stuff for the last couple of months, we kind of slipped into the studio when noone was looking. This thing is already sounding totally immense - even better than Code..., from where I'm standing. It's fast and furious, as you'd expect, but we're also throwing a few curveballs in, in true ND tradition. Can't wait for everyone to hear it. Take it easy peeps."

Dying Fetus - New Drummer

Dying Fetus have officially announced the addition of drummer Duane Timlin to their line-up. Here's a statement from the band:

"It's been a long year of searching, but we wanted to move forward in the certainty of having the right person for the group. Duane joins Mike Kimball, guitar, Sean Beasley, bass and vocals, and original member John Gallagher, guitar and vocals, to complete our 4-piece lineup. The band were already friends with Duane, and even toured with him when he played drums for Divine Empire, who supported Dying Fetus on our 2003 summer headlining tour. Duane submitted an impressive video audition as well as auditioning in person the weekend of May 13, and has demonstrated to us that he has the skills and dedication we were looking for! We want to thank everyone who auditioned or contacted us about the spot - we appreciate your consideration, talent, and hard work. We will announce further details about our recording and touring schedule soon. Keep checking back for recording dates in mid-summer and tour dates in late winter of this year."

Lamb Of God - Upcoming Album Update

Lamb Of God have set "Sacrament" as the title of their highly anticipated album release, due late Summer 2006 via Epic Records.

The group has been unusually tight lipped about the new recording, turning down all but a select few in-studio and pre-studio interviews. No listening sessions, demo recordings or audio samples have been granted or released.

News from March 2nd notes that the band had once again tapped friend and producer Machine ('Ashes of the Wake') to handle the production duties for "Sacrament".

At that time drummer Chris Adler had the following to say:
"Everyone wants to know what the new material is like or have us compare it to something. It's tough to do because when your proud of something you want to say it's better than something else or that it's more of this or that. I don't want to do that - every Lamb Of God album has been a snapshot in time, a puzzle that spelled out who we are as individual musicians and as a band. They each represent a certain amount of experience and ability - and without saying more, we now have more of both of those than ever. We have continued to raise the bar for ourselves in every aspect of what we do, and we are expecting more of ourselves than ever heading into this. We're looking forward to tracking and releasing this intense and very heavy release."

News surfaced that as of April 11th drummer Chris Adler had finished tracking drums at Spin Recording studios in Long Island City, New York.

All interviews with Chris and his brother Willie Adler were cancelled during the drum tracking session and several more have been cancelled as the band continues tracking guitars and vocals in Richmond, VA.

In the most recent news from the camp guitarist Mark Morton had the following comments on the recording and the material:
"There's an intensity to this project that feels heavier than previous records. The vibe around the sessions has been serious. Not in a conflict sort of way, just more focused and driven than ever before. We know we're onto something. I've done very few interviews over the course of these sessions and everybody wants to know titles and track listings and details like that, but we're not coming off of that kind of stuff just yet. It's too early. This record's way too important to us to allow anyone in until the five of us are in agreement that it's exactly how we want it. It's definitely not a casual approach this time around. We really want this album to have an impact....it feels like it will."
