Dismember: New official bassist

Dismember has from now on recruited Johan Bergebäck as their new bassplayer. Rickard Cabeza nowadays lives in Dallas, Texas which makes it too hard for him to be an active part of the band. We wish him all the best! Johan Bergebäck has been the session bassplayer for the last year supporting the latest release "Where Ironcrosses Grow". Johan has the right attitude and fits in the band both musically and personally. The swedish death metal slaying of the world continues this fall with gigs in Europe and South America!

New metal label: Sonic Age Records

A Greek heavy metal record label is born, Sonic Age Records. The label is formed by the people behind the label Cult Metal Classics.

Created in 2001, Cult Metal Classics was launched "mostly as a reissue label, trying to bring back to light some forgotten diamonds of heavy metal music," according to a press release. "The name of the label was related to re-releases, so due to the fact that we wanted to host some new bands too, a decision was made to start a label whose name and profile matched much better with a label that will be dedicated to new releases! The decision was made mainly after the big success of the JACK STARR'S GUARDIANS OF THE FLAME 'Under a Savage Sky' and also Greece's premier power metal band BLOODSTAINED 'Greetings from Hell' releases."

"We have already negotiated deals with great bands like Overlorde (U.S.A.), Valkija (Italy), Bloodstained (Greece), Made Of Iron (Germany), Euroforce (Greece / Germany) and more. Expect a new wave of fantastic releases that will be available pretty soon!"

Cult Metal Classics will continue to exist as a branch of Sonic Age Records and will focus on limited re-issues on vinyl and CD.

Mezmerize update on new album

The italian band was in studio in July making the recording for the new album, and should be in studio again in September. The band is not worried for the time: "we are confident to be able to mix the album by the end of September, so there will be the chance for Dragonheart Records to release the album before the end of the year."

The yet untitled album will have some of these song titles: The Burn - Princess Of The Wolves - Bitter Crop - Hot Lead, Cold Steel - Field Of Heroes - Bloody Mary - Best Place For A Knife - Windchaser - Triumph Of The Darksword - Lure Of The Temptress - Monkeys In Sunday Best - Puzzle2

They will keep their sound but will have some new elements as "some very fast parts, some folk-like insers, some orchestration here and there and very probably the participation of a female voice".

Metallica starting to think about next album

Metallica frontman James Hetfield has told Launch Radio Networks that they are starting to think about their next project. According to Hetfield, the group has been preparing for each concert in their backstage "jam room," and have started coming up with ideas for new songs. "I'm really excited to do the next record," he said. "I'm also really excited to take some time off and just not have anything on a schedule. Creatively I think things are working really good. We're feeling really good. We're in the jam room coming up with stuff. Creatively, stuff's flowing. It feels so free and open."

Hetfield said he expects Metallica to take some time off when their tour ends in November, and then reconvene in late spring or early summer of 2005 to start working on the next album.

Napalm Death recording new album

Napalm Death recording new album

British grindcore pioneers Napalm Death are currently preparing to record their forthcoming studio album. Commenting on why the band chose to record in Wales, vocalist Barney Greenway had this to say: "The studio is called Foel Studios in the town of Foel, North Wales (Porcupine Tree, Ozric Tentacles), and is owned by the original bass player in Hawkwind. We decided to record here because it's pretty isolated out in the countryside, so there are minimal distractions. We feel that good use of studio time is pivotal and where as some bands might sit around taking things easy for periods, we really work intensively. In the studio, it's actually better to be slightly stressed and on edge for us because it's a good way to capture that kind of on the edge live vibe, which in turn gives us the extra thrust. Personally, I'm never happy with a verse of vocals if I think that I can squeeze a last drop of rawness out of my voice. Sometimes I probably attack things too much, but intensity is the key for me. I like to think we've done enough trips to the studio now to know what we're doing, yet you can never be entirely prepared for the unexpected where, say, the desk might burst into flames or something. Russ Russell will be producing, as he's a very trustworthy man at the knobs for us now as well as being a mate. We're confident he'll do a great job on the new stuff, which is sounding spectacularly savage ? a good mix of the very best bits from the last two albums."
