Gaia Epicus - Broke contract with Sound Riot

The band posted the following message regarding the contract situation:

"Gaia Epicus has broken the contract with Sound Riot Records. After this last episode with the label we have decided to end the contract with them. SR has broken to many parts of the contract and we can't except it anymore. We are now in contact with lawyers both in Norway and Portugal and will state our demands to SR very soon. If they do not agree we might be taking them to court, but we hope to have an agreement without going to court.

We are also in the progress of finding a new label to release the new album, and we hope to have a contract on this soon."

Also the band had previously reported some issues concerning the (upcoming) album:

"Release has been stopped

Gaia Epicus has told Sound Riot Records to stop the release of their upcoming album "Symphony of Glory", and to pull back all cd's that have been sent out.

The reason for this is that Sound Riot has changed the song order on the track list without asking permission from the band. Gaia Epicus has as of now forbid Sound Riot to sell or release any music of Gaia Epicus until things have been sorted out.

If you have bought or seen any places where the album is sold with the wrong track list, please let us know.

Also the song "Time and Space" has the intro for the album in the same track, and this should off course be 2 tracks. The intro part has nothing to do with the song, so that's another thing they have
fucked up.

There are also many other reasons why we have decided to go as far as to forbid Sound Riot in releasing and selling any music from the band.

We are in contact with some legal advisors at the moment and will let you know what happens as soon as we know something more.

The correct track list:
1. Welcome (intro)
2. Time and space
3. Miracles
4. Seize the day
5. Hand of fate
6. Wings of freedom
7. Spanish eyes
8. No release?
9. Chamber of secrets
10. Be thy cross my victory
11. Symphony of glory

Any track list not in this order has not been approved by the band, and therefore the Band can not stand 100% behind this product.

We hope that you all understand this situation, and respect our decision.

We will have no problem in finding someone to release this album, And we will try to work things out as soon as possible.

Best regards
Gaia Epicus"

Confessor - Ink A Deal With Season Of Mist

The following message was posted on the Label site concerning the deal with Confessor:

"Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of the progressive doom-metal legends, CONFESSOR! Emerging from over a decade of hibernation, the band has returned to form, hungrier and more focused than ever.

Once dubbed, "The world's most obstinately technical metal band", CONFESSOR will again continue to make the words "heavy" synonymous with "progressive" and "provocative" in an effort to challenge and inspire their listeners.

As a precursor to the band's upcoming long player, "Unraveled", due out in early autumn, Season of Mist will release the limited edition CD-single, "Sour Times". Scheduled for a June release, this soon-to-be collector's item will mainly be made available for purchase to the die-hard fans. The release will contain 2 new songs; "Sour Times" and "Hibernation", a radio edit of the title track plus a live video! Also included on the limited CD with be PC Interactive gems such as band photos, a screen saver and more! Already listen to an extract of "Sour Times" here

"Confessor has always been a pillar for top notch 'complex riffing' and amazing drumming with the guts to have a vocalist who sings how he wants to, ignoring any trends for over a decade now..." ~ Philip H Anselmo - SUPERJOINT RITUAL / PANTERA

"So f*cking heavy, sophisticated and tasteful, the crème de le crème. They were 10 years ahead of their time! Godly!" ~ Karl Sanders - NILE

"Like a fucked up mix of TROUBLE and WATCHTOWER, CONFESSOR raped my ears in the early 90's - I am glad to see them back!! ~Michael Amott - ARCH ENEMY"

ANTHRAX has teamed up with Slave to the Metal Foundation (www.slavetothemetal.org) to bring public awareness to the dangers of the Anthrax Vaccine. The newly legislated "BioShield Act" (July, 2004) allows the Department of Health and Human Services to inject American Citizens with Anthrax Vaccines and other untested and unapproved substances without informed consent, using our military as first line guinea pigs. Experts will be at the conference to discuss this with attendees."

Blind Guardian - Part ways with drummer

German power metallers BLIND GUARDIAN have parted ways with longtime drummer Thomen Stauch. Frontman Hansi Kürsch's official statement on the matter reads as follows:

"No news is good news. This obviously is bad news. After walking along the same musical paths for about 20 years and after several long, open and honest discussions between the four band members, we have all (including Thomen) come to the same conclusion that it is now best for Thomen to leave the band.

"Since we developed different musical and personal directions for quite a while now, it turned out to be more and more difficult to find acceptable and suitable solutions for everyone in the band. Such circumstances would have eventually caused severe internal problems. Therefore, to avoid any damage to our close relationship this difficult step is essential. In terms of creativity or progression neither one of us would like to hold the other one back. Due to that fact the split seems to be a sad, but reasonable solution. We wish Thomen all the best for the future and hope to come up with more positive news in the near future.

"?and day shall come again"

In a separate statement of his own, Stauch emphasized that the split was amicable and offered his gratitude to his former BLIND GUARDIAN colleagues:

"As you may have read in Hansi's statement, I am no longer the drummer of BLIND GUARDIAN. From now on we are going our separate ways, at least musically. I must admit it is quite a sad, but necessary decision in order for us to remain friends.

"I stand fully behind Hansi's declaration, so I will keep my statement as short as possible, and wish BLIND GUARDIAN all the best for the future, hoping that they find another drummer without any hassle.

"I would also like to use this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you who stood by us through all those years, especially our fans. You are the best!!! I hope to see you again soon!

"A big thank you to my old colleagues, Hansi, Andre and Marcus, for all the amazing times we've shared."

Stauch is currently working on an as-yet-unnamed new project with SOILWORK vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid. The collaboration, which originally went under the COLDSEED moniker, was previously described by Strid as "a mixture between RAMMSTEIN and ALICE IN CHAINS." A full-length album was recenetly recorded and is due later in the year.

Tiamat - Split and Back in 2 Days

Here are the announcements posted on the band website:

"1st of April 2005

Tiamat Is No More...

Today Tiamat announced that they have decided to split up due to "religious differencies". All future concerts and studio sessions have been cancelled. Tiamat would like to thank their fans for the support and apologize for the lack of glue in the most cracked substances of the Tiamat subjects. This page will be maintained until the contracts run out, then remain dark forever. Thanks for everything!"

followed by:

"2nd of April 2005

Tiamat Reunion?

Yes, the rumours are true! Tiamat are back together and will do many reunion shows this spring and summer, and serve their fans a "best of" orgy in nostalgia that only middle-aged rock'n'rollers can put up! All band members will travel individually and have separate backstage rooms to avoid confronting each other. The therapist has been sacked and the money saved will go straight into the pockets of the religious leaders of the CoT."

The Storyteller - To Start works on New Album

The band posted the following message on their official website:

"Yes it's finally time for us to enter the studio for our fourth full length album.

The date is set to the beginning of May and will take about 4 weeks. This time we have chosen to enter Studio Underground (Västerås). We have no doubts that the producer Pelle Saether will do an excellent job so we are really looking forward to this recording.

To all of you who wonder how the new album will sound I can only say this:
This album has by far the best material so far. It is going to be a bit harder then our previous albums but I think that all of you will enjoy it.

There are also going to be a couple of FESTIVALS this year.
So far Decibel 2000 (Bengtsfors/Sweden) and Parkrock (Sandviken/Sweden) are scheduled but we do hope to announce some more gigs in the near future.

Also I would like to announce that we have a second booking agency working for us: SSG AGENCY AND MANAGEMENT (Finland)
To contact them please write to Thomas Ståhl: thomas@ssg.fi

And of course we still have MOTOR PRODUCTIONS working for us
Our contact there is Edward Janson; edward.janson@motor.se

Well I think that's it for now.
Stay tuned for more news regarding the upcoming album.

Rock on!
L-G"

Dimmu Borgir - Hellhammer on the New Album

DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Silenoz has confirmed that MAYHEM's Jan Axel Blomberg (a.k.a. Hellhammer) will play on the next DIMMU BORGIR CD as a session drummer. In a posting on the band's official web site, Silenoz writes, "To get this rumor bullshit out of the way, we confirm that mercenary Hellhammer will be doing the drums for us as a session member on the next album. And that's that."

The Norwegian symphonic black metallers had previously utilized the services of NILE's Tony Laureano and Reno Kiilerich (PANZERCHRIST, EXMORTEM, VILE) as touring members following the departure of Nick Barker (ex-CRADLE OF FILTH) in early 2004.

DIMMU BORGIR recently announced plans to re-record their second album, "Stormblåst" (originally released in 1996 via Cacophonous Records) later in the year. No further information is currently available.
