Ensiferum: Petri Lindroos on board for tour
Ensiferum's second album "Iron" is in stores now. However, there is no album releasing in some countries so if you cannot find the album, ask it from the distributor or your local record dealer.
Ensiferum hasn't yet found a new singer-guitarist, but Petri Lindroos (Norther) has been negotiating with the band if he'd stay as a regular member in the band. It is certain though that Petri is doing the Ensiferum concerts this year.

Quo Vadis Details on new album
"Hi everyone,
We are happy to announce further details of the next Quo Vadis record. First of all the title of the album is "Defiant Imagination". You may have heard rumors of the title being "To The Bitter End", however, we felt that the artwork that was chosen for this album, featured on top of the page, embodied the sound and feel of the record perfectly. It also fit with our secondary choice of title "Defiant Imagination". Great thanks to the artist (Skydancer) who has granted us the rights to use this amazing image. The album should be available in stores in Canada by early November via Fusion3/Skyscraper. Below is the track listing:
1. Silence Calls The Storm
2. In Contempt
3. Break The Cycle
4. Tunnel Effect
5. To The Bitter End
6. In Articulo Mortis
7. Fate's Descent
8. Dead Man's Diary
9. Ego Intuo et Servo Te
Finally we will be shooting a video for "In Contempt" starting the morning of Saturday September 18 before our show in Greenfield Park at another location. We will then rush to the show, and continue shooting on Sunday morning! The video should be available in conjunction with the album release. Hopefully we'll be able to post some screen shots for you soon.
Stay tuned for more details."

Firebox records restructuring
Kostas Panagiotou, the member of the funeral-doom metal band Pantheist, posted yesterday (September the 16th) an interesting message on the doom-metal.com site. Here it is:
"Firebox Records has established a new sub-label 'Firedoom Music' to separate
their catalogue into more coherent sections. This is mostly done in order to
give artists on both labels the distribution and promotion they deserve.
The basic differences between the labels are:
FIREBOX RECORDS - The flagship of the company. Under the 'Firebox Records'
name the label will be releasing more "mainstream oriented" albums with full
promotional support.
Most of these bands will also gig and tour regularly.
Bands: Swallow The Sun, Total Devastation, Grave Flowers, Shadow Cut, The Eternal etc.
New signing: Fall of The Leafe (Finland)
FIREDOOM MUSIC - The finest of the underground (doom) metal. Under this
name the label will be releasing the more underground-oriented bands with
promotional support that is more geared towards that area. Bands: Aarni, Mar De Grises, Umbra Nihil, Until Death Overtakes Me, Woods of Belial, Tyranny.
New signing: Forest of Shadows (Sweden)".

There is a statement posted it on their official website:
"We have now finished 11 new songs which will compose our first full-lenght album that the band will record in October/November 2004 in his personal studio.
We'll also play in Bari, at Stop Over Pub, 24th September at Total Metal Festival with Eldritch, Marshall, Panic Cell, The Scavenger and more?
After this gig the band will rehearse the new songs and will play only mini festivals: probably the first one in October in Slovenia.
More details will be available as soon as we have them!
Last but not least we ask you to vote your favourite "Death Never Dies" song with an e-mail to info@golemneverdies.it, containing the title of the song and (if you want) a short comment. If you are lucky you can win an exclusive GoleM t-shirt and a copy of our new promo "Death in Progress..."

Megadeth - New bassist
Bassist James MacDonough recently spoke to the Iced Earth fan site http://www.iced-realm.de/ about his departure from Iced Earth and his new gig as the bassist for Megadeth. Several extractions from the interview follow:
Iced-Realm.de: How did you get the gig with Megadeth?
James MacDonough: "I knew the album was recorded at the beginning of the year and the guy that did the bass tracks was a session player named Jimmy Sloas, I didn't know if he was going to do the tour or not and e-mailed Dave (Mustaine, Megadeth mainman) about the position. I got a response a couple of days later that started the communication going. He told me this could be a very good thing and would keep me on a short list. Dave McRobb, Megadeth's webmaster got the ball rolling and was feeling people out for both the guitarist and the bassist position. The next thing I knew I was on a conference call with Dave and Dave, he told what he planned and what he expected of the person that would fill those shoes. I quickly knew that I had formed two very good friendships and the ball kept rolling. I videotaped myself playing a couple of Megadeth tunes and within a couple of days got a call from Dave Mustaine saying that he wanted me for the position."
Iced-Realm.de: Were there any auditions? If so, how did they go down?
James MacDonough: "The audition was not only about being able to play the tunes but had alot to do with personality and chemistry with each other, and of course enthusiasm and sincerity."
Iced-Realm.de: Have there already been any rehearsals with Megadeth?
James MacDonough: "Not as of yet, I'll be going out to work with (Megadeth drummer) Nick Menza for a week then going to full rehearsals, the tour will start on October 26'th in San Diego."
Iced-Realm.de: How is working with Dave? He's known to have quite some ego, as does Jon (Schaffer, Iced Earth mainman). Do they have anything in common/what are the differences?
James MacDonough: "Dave has made me feel like a band member already, he's shown me a lot of personal and professional respect. I haven't experienced any ego whatsoever as many perceive from him. Dave's very straightforward, speaks his mind, knows what he wants, and expects the best that you can give, and sometimes that's misconstrued as arrogance. I call it professionalism. Sure, there's opinionated people out there , but when you ask for the opinion, well, you're going to get it. If you want to know the difference between the two, it's like apples and oranges, two totally different people. Both are professional but have different ways of dealing with people and friends. I have posted something on Megadeth.com. I have a forum there called 'The Deep End' that might answer additional questions on some of these topics."
