Lion's Share - Write Intro Song For Swedish Ice Hockey Team

Lion's Share members Lars Chriss and Sampo Axelsson have, in cooperation with Sidelake Media and Christian Rehn (Angtoria), written the official intro song for Swedish elite ice hockey team Timrå IK (Red Eagles). The clip is shown up on the Jumbotron when the players enter the ice.

"The main riff was based on the song "Shadows" from Lion's Share's "Two" (1997) album, with an AC/DC and Rammstein twist since this style works so well in hockey arenas."

Fatalist - Debut Album To See November Release

Champions of the old school Swedish death metal style (Stockholm, not Gothenburg), Ventura, California's Fatalist pay tribute to the likes of Nihilist, Grave, Entombed, and Dismember on debut full-length The Depths Of Inhumanity. The follow up to 2007's impressive (and now sold out) Loss demo will be released on November 23, 2009 on Ibex Moon Records. While the influences are obvious, the band injects its own personality into these 11 songs, while staying true to the bruising 'n buzzing sounds of early 90s Stockholm.

Guitarist/vocalist Neil Burkdoll (Dirty Dead, Stump) Burkdoll had this to say about the recording: "Well, three years in the making; it has been a long ass time. Our album The Depths of Inhumanity is finally going to see the light of day on Nov 23, 2009. It is 11 songs of old school death metal that we hope you guys enjoy. We really tried to make each song stand alone from the others and have their own identity. We are happy as hell that the album is coming out on Ibex Moon as well. We really felt that we would fit nicely on the Ibex Moon roster and it was a great day when John agreed to talk to us about an album deal. Things went really smooth with the label and we hope to work with them again in the future."

Burkdoll, along with veteran guitarist/vocalist Wes Caley (ex-Exhumed, ex-Uphill Battle), bassist Art Hayes, and drummer Tyler Castro bring the rumble with great songwriting, fierce attitude, and menacing feeling; just the way it was meant to be played. Hear for yourself why James Hoare of Terrorizer praised Fatalist for playing "Swedish death metal like the masters" and shredding "the old way."

A picture of how the cover art will look like can be found here.

Chthonic - Named "Best International Artist" At Tibetan Music Awards

Taiwanese extreme metallers Chthonic have been honored with the "Best International Artist" award for their participation in the Free Tibet concert in Taipei on July 11 of this year. The award was given out at this year's Tibetan Music Awards, which took place on October 10 in McLeod Ganj, India.

Says vocalist Freddy Lim: "This is an honor for all the performers, staff, volunteers, and audiences involved with the Free Tibet concert earlier this year in Taiwan. Let's keep fighting for justice and freedom, and I believe that all Tibetans will be winners and earn their rights eventually!"

Chthonic is currently on tour with Satyricon in support of its latest album, "Mirror of Retribution", which was issued in the U.S. on September 15 via Spinefarm Records.

Formed in 1995, Chthonic (a name deriving from a Greek word signifying spirits of the underworld) has delivered an 11-track body of work that touches on both the spirit and mortal worlds, with loss of national identity and the sometimes turbulent history of their homeland recurring themes.

With Anthrax guitarist Rob Caggiano at the production and mixing helm, "Mirror Of Retribution" sees the award-winning musicians further developing a style that started with the 1999 album "Where The Ancestors' Souls Gathered", blending full-on metal of the darker persuasion with traditional Taiwanese instruments such as two-string violin, the hena.

Anal Blast - Frontman Dies At Age 41

Donald Decker, singer/songwriter for the infamous Minnesota-based brutal death/porngrind band Anal Blast, passed away Sunday morning (October 11th). According to his friends, the passing was "peaceful." He was 41 years old.

The cause of death has not been made public, but Decker reportedly received a liver transplant last year.

Next to writing violently obscene lyrics for Anal Blast - which he said was "the most stupid band in the world" - Don Decker was also a metal concert promoter and the owner of a death metal record store. He was the first one to get Cradle Of Filth to the USA.

Anal Blast was founded in 1994 and recorded two studio albums; "Vaginal Vempire" (1998) and "Battered Bleeding Bitch" (2004) with a live DVD issued last year, entitled "Spraying Blood Live."

Vader - New Video Online

"Never Say My Name," the new video from Polish extreme metallers Vader, can now be viewed on YouTube.

Inspired by Patrick Graham's bestselling book "L'Evangile Selon Satan" (translation: "The Gospel According to Satan"), the clip tells an alternate story of the death of a messiah who curses humanity before his death on the cross and chooses life in Hell instead of Heaven. Perhaps because of its "controversial" title and content, this book is not available in the U.S. in English, but a French version can be ordered from Canada.

Commented Vader guitarist/vocalist Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek: "We started the video shoot on August 15, at about noon. That day we were in the Last Supper and the slaughter of the Messiah's followers scenes, while during the night we were to take some bluebox and Janus shots. The same day in Wroclaw, the masses came to see a light-and-water show taking place just 200 meters from the place of our shooting the 'Bible scenes.' Lots of people were wondering, 'What's being shot here? A new TV series? The Bible stories? Or maybe a Discovery program?' Despite 12 hours of hard work and constant stage make-up changes, we managed to finish before 1 a.m. We went through it without a bloodshed ? well, despite the Last Supper scene... but the blood was a fake.

The next day we took the martyr shots and the Romans' armament ones, which were crucial for Necropolis. Sunday: the unbearable heat and another couple of hours in the nearby gravel pit. It wasn't so easy that day. The owner of the place, who at first was eager to rent it to the Inbornmedia crew, had enough when it came to the crucifixion, burning, and the transformation of the Messiah into Janus. My roars and the burning crucifix brought about an immediate response of the security guards. They called the police and we were supposed to leave the gravel pit at once. Fortunately, we managed to 'steal' one more hour before the cops arrived. There only remained ashes. And we, together with the Romans, came back to the hotel at about. 2 a.m. And there were still the final scenes left."

Armored Saint - To Enter The Studio

Armored Saint are set to enter Tranzformer Studios in Burbank, CA to begin recording the band's 6th full-length studio album. Tranzformer Studios is owned by Dave Jerdan (Alice In Chains, Jane's Addiction, etc) who produced Armored Saint's 1991 classic "Symbol of Salvation" and Bryan Carlstrom who handled engineering on the same album. The Saint will be working with Bryan Carlstrom who will once again handle engineering duties with the bands very own Joey Vera producing, and both Joey and Bryan mixing the record. A partial song list for the upcoming album, which is expected to hit streets in the spring 2010 is: "Black Feet", "Chilled", "Loose Cannon", "Blues", "La Raza", "Head On", "Get off the Fence", "Left Hook From Right Field".

Here's what Armored Saint vocalist John Bush had to say about how the new album came together: "About a year and a half or so ago Joey asked me if I'd be interested in writing some songs. I was in the right mind finally, so I said send me something. To be quite honest, I wasn't thinking in terms of Armored Saint but more like just writing rock music. I felt pretty free with that mentality and the ideas felt very organic. With every passing song things improved and next thing we knew we had about eight songs demoed. Although the idea of sparking something completely new was appealing it became clear that if it was Joey and I the reality was, let's not kid ourselves; this is Armored Saint. So here it comes. Embracing my inner R&B singer and coupling that with our influence of the great seventy's hard rock band's we grew up on."

Armored Saint bassist Joey Vera comments: "John and I began writing over 14 months ago and in the beginning we had only a general musical direction in which we were going. Once we decided to keep writing and with more of an intention of turning it into an Armored Saint project, we were faced with a few questions. One was, how does this new music we're writing fit into the current musical styles of today? And should we care? We quickly answered the latter. We realized we should do what we always did and that is to write good songs. And for ourselves first. We are not unaware of our parameters in which we have created over the past 25 years, but we are also not afraid to take chances and simply do what we do best. The idea of trying to continue where we left off over 10 years ago since our last release is not very appealing to me. I have to let go of what I did in 1991 and in 2000. Nothing at all against what we've recorded in the past but my head is in a different place now. Trust me; I still want to kill your senses with music, but just in a different way."
