Mob Rules - New Album In November

The Northern German Melodic Metal force Mob Rules signed a contract with AFM in late July. The new, sixth album "Radical Peace" will be released in November, prior to this the single "Astral Hand" will be unleashed in October.

"We are happy that we signed with the label of our first choice", states the band. "The well-known professional work of the company and their high-class artist-roster go well with us and our musical direction."

AFM are happy with the signing, too: "With Mob Rules we welcome one of the best and most consistent German Melodic/Power Metal bands. We are convinced that we can support the band on their further way up. Furthermore we can announce one of the Metal highlight of 2009 in "Radical Peace", the band´s heaviest and most diverse album so far. Expect some spectacular surprises!"

Noteworthy for this appraisal is the twenty-minute epic "The Oswald File", which deals with the assassination of John F. Kennedy and brings up the question whether the suspected (and later killed) Harvey Lee Oswald really was the one who shot Kennedy. With this song Mob Rules continue the concept of important political events in world's history that they started on the previous album "Ethnolution A.D.".

This autumn Mob Rules will be present on stage some more times, amongst others at the Wacken Rocks Seaside in Aurich, Germany (August 28th), as headliner of the "Börsencrash Festival" in Wuppertal, Germany (October 16th) and at the big album release concert in the band´s hometown Wilhelmshaven on November 27th, 2009.

...In Deviltry - Line Up Complete

...In Deviltry - the new band of ex-Theatre Of Tragedy guitarist Tommy Lindal - has issued the following update:

After months of searching and testing to find the "perfect" member, it is with great pleasure that we now can anounce that ...In Deviltry is complete and has started working and writing their own material. "It's been a very long, hard and confusing prosess, but we now feel very comfortable with our full lineup, says mainman Tommy Lindal. I really was loosing my hope to find the right people, but in the last stage of testing, something happened. During the test, everybody was playing, banging and the singing was perfect, the chemistry between everybody was united. This was it, this moment is what I've been waiting for all these months".

The full line up for the band is:

Larisse Katarine - Vocals
Filipe Santos - Vocals
Tommy Lindal - Guitars
David Cantidio - Guitars
Raul Damasceno - Bass
Lourran Antonio - Keyboard
Marcelo Costa - Drums

About two vocals, Tommy explains that the main vocal will be Larisse Katarine, but as the contrast in our music, the male vocals will be an important issue. ...In Deviltry will not be a typical "Beauty and the Beast" band, but will place male vocals strategicaly in some of our songs. A name that probably will be noticed out there, is our drummer Marcelo who is currently playing for the grindcore metaller's "Expose Your Hate" from Natal, RN. He's an exellent drummer and convinced us all that his skills is needed in the band. The sound is yet to be set, but to give you an idea, it will be melodic, obscure, heavy, psycotic with classical elements. The first liveshows and recordings will hopefully appear at the end of this year."

...In Deviltry was formed in august 2008 by Tommy Lindal in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Tommy were one of the founders of the Norwegian band Theatre Of Tragedy in 1993. More info here.

The Gates Of Slumber - Complete Work On New Album

Metal Blade Records press release

The Gates Of Slumber has completed work on its new studio album, "Hymns Of Blood & Thunder". The album is slated to drop in North America on September 13, 2009 via Rise Above Records.

The band's hotly anticipated new album, "Hymns of Blood & Thunder", drops on the heels of the brightest and busiest year in the respected power trio's history; one that saw The Gates Of Slumber pack clubs during its first U.S. headlining tour and land atop many year-end media polls with "Conqueror", an album that was hailed as "a breath of fresh air within the doom/true metal underground." The record placed at the #5 position in Decibel's "Top 40 Albums of 2008" and made Village Voice Media's "Top 10 Metal Albums of 2008", joining an impressive list of some of the genre's finest including AC/DC, Judas Priest and Metallica.

Recorded in Chicago's Semaphore Studios with producer Sanford Parker (Nachtmystium, Pelican), The Gates Of Slumber unleashes its holy grail in the formidable "Hymns of Blood & Thunder". A mighty document of both powerful songwriting and instrumental skull-crushing, the album is heavy and chillingly bleak; in an almost unrelenting way that hasn't been heard since Judas Priest's heyday ("Sad Wings of Destiny", "Sin After Sin", etc.). Displaying a powerful focus and direction and demonstrating a very compelling emotional range, The Gates Of Slumber have upped its levels of both technique and melody, resulting in an album that is at once frighteningly dark in its effect, tight in its grooves and unrivaled in its sheer power.

"Just prior to the band's 2008 U.S. headlining tour, I started working on songs for the new record with the goal in mind that it had to be a step forward for us compositionally as well as production wise," The Gates Of Slumber front man/guitarist Karl Simon remarks. "I knew that I personally wanted to work on more integrated and composed solos to allow for different sides of me to come out - sides that are more influenced by Judas Priest and Scorpions, rather than the flurries of hammer-ons that I owe to Tony Iommi and Wino. The songs are more aggressive, more riff-y this time, but they also retain the musical elements that we've explored over the last couple of records. Lyrically it's a continuation of our obsession with war, and death and the fantasy worlds where those things are all so common and cool."

Holocoaster - Former Therion Drummer's New Band

Petter Karlsson wasn't only taking care of the drums in Therion for over four years. He was also a singer, guitarist, head composer, co-producer and recording engineer on Therion's 13th album "Gothic Kabbalah", by many considered to be the best Therion album.

Over 200 shows later, it was time to create something of his own. He quit Therion and in the year 2008, he started a new exciting project and began composing maybe his best songs ever...

In Petter's own words: "the last year I've received hundreds of mails from fans begging me to come up with something new", and he continues, "this is the first time
ever, I've been able to put 110% effort, commitment, blood and tears into my music without any compromises."

Now it's time to proudly present Holocoaster!

Three songs called "Another Day - Another Victim", "Father Doom" and "Holocoaster" are streaming over at http://www.myspace.com/holocoaster.

The band's very first video clip for "Another Day - Another Victim"- directed and produced by Petter Karlsson himself - can be watched below.

Almah - Working On New Album

Brazilian prog power metal band (featuring Angra's members Edu Falaschi and Felipe Andreoli) is currently preparing new material for its third studio album, at the same time promoting its predecessor "Fragile Equality".

Almah's singer Edu Falaschi gave official comments about the present stage of work:

"It's a great pleasure to inform you that very soon we will have a new Almah album in our hands, completely composed. The chemistry of the current line-up is so good and the results we have got with "Fragile Equality" have been so fantastic, that we can't stop working at our new songs. All of them sound with a lot of energy, with modern and heavy passages. Certainly, this third CD is a mix of everything that Almah has done on its first two albums, for sure, besides new approaches, sounds and ideas. Very soon we will launch some videos and photos of our work at pre-production of the album and most probably - some parts of new songs! The studio recording is pre-scheduled for the middle of September and the release of the album is to be in the first half of 2010."

Almah was established by Angra's singer Edu Falaschi in 2006. The last studio album of the band was released in September-October 2008 through AFM Records (Europe, North America), JVC (Asia) and Laser Company (Brazil).

The current line up is the following: Edu Falaschi - vocals (Angra), Felipe Andreoli - bass (Angra), Marcelo Barbosa - guitars (Khallice), Paulo Schroeber - guitars, Marcelo Moreira - drums (Burning In Hell). The band is currently booking a European tour for October 2009.

Echoes Of Eternity - New Album Details Revealed

Guitarist/songwriter Brandon S. Patton checked in from Los Angeles about Echoes Of Eternity's sophomore album:

"Working with Logan Mader on "As Shadows Burn" was amazing. We had a lot of respect for him from the start, given his experience as a professional guitarist with Machine Head in the '90s and the great work he's done as a mixer and producer in recent years, the most recent Gojira album being a prime example.

The difference between our debut album and this second album is night and day! On the first album, the mix was really uneven and the vocals had WAY too much effects on them. On "As Shadows Burn", we captured a much more natural feel as a band. It doesn't sound so fucking processed and stiff. The guitars and drumming are way more aggressive and the band is smokin', with the whole album being slam-packed with killer riffs. The production and mix is a million times better. And Francine delivers an AMAZING vocal performance that is going to make people wake the fuck up. Even if you've made up your mind that you hate female-fronted metal, you are probably going to dig this record because first and foremost, its a KILLER metal record.

The title of the album actually came from a line in the chorus of the song "Veiled Horizon". It was short and evoked strong imagery in our mind. We thought that title would lead to a really cool album cover if we worked with the right artist. And it did. Gustavo Sazes (Old Man's Child, Firewind, God Forbid) really nailed it!

We would love to take this bad boy on the road in 2010. It would be a damned shame if we didn't because we designed this record to fucking kick ass live! We missed a great chance to do a tour at the beginning of next year, so we are hanging tight for the right tour offer so we can get out on the road."

"As Shadows Burn" cover art] tracklist:

01. Ten Of Swords
02. A Veiled Horizon
03. Memories Of Blood And Gold
04. The Scarlet Embrace
05. Descent Of A Blackened Soul
06. Twilight Fires
07. Buried Beneath A Thousand Dreams
08. Letalis Deus
09. Funeral In The Sky

"As Shadows Burn" will be released in North America on September 22, 2009. Three days later the album will hit the shelves in Europe.
