Theudho - Joined By New Bassist

Belgian Pegan black metallers Theudho has posted the following news on their MySpace blog:

"Multi-instrumentalist Nick, known from bands such as Waelcyrge, Grimm, Hooded Priest, Zwartketterij, Gae Bolga and Hypochondria, has agreed to play bass on the upcoming Theudho album. Nick almost played bass for Theudho for a bunch of live dates back in 2007/2008, but it never happened due to practical reasons. We've known Nick for quite a long time, so now the time has come to see where this cooperation will lead us!"

Theudho are now in the the final phase of the writing process for the next album.

In the meantime, drummer Joachim, who handled the drums on The Völsunga Saga and Cult of Wuotan has agreed to return for the recording of the album. Guitar wizard extraordinaire Dieter, who also stepped in during the fall/winter of 2008, will take care of all the leads and solos on the album.

Svartby - Forced To Cancel German Shows

Due to certain "gettin'-a-German-visa problems", Russian folk metal band Svartby is forced to cancel the 3 announced shows this week, as the band won't be able to take flights to Germany.

The band stated: "We express our deepest regrets and apologies for those who tended to see us this Summer and hope we'll rock next time! (hope soon) We also express deepest regrets for ourselves of course, as the ride was planned to be a top-event for the band this summer.

Meanwhile, we're solving the mysteries of the third album, including tracklist, musical content, mythology and surprises... and other important details. Recording of the Elemental Tales album is planned for Autumn. Don't forget to download for free Svartby's latest teaser-single "Scum from Underwater" at this location. The Black Village will return in 2011 with a pure elemental rage!"

Avenged Sevenfold - New Video Online

The new un-edited version of Avenged Sevefold's new video for the song "Nightmare" can be viewed below. The video was directed by Wayne Isham (Metallica, Pantera, Pink Floyd).

The video has several references to the band's deceased drummer The Rev (fe. the last drum kit he ever played with the band). Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy played drums on the new album, but is not featured in this video clip.

The song comes off the band's upcoming album Nightmare scheduled to be released next week (July 27, 2010). Nightmare, the first single off that album, was released digitally on May 18, 2010.

Fear Factory - Unleash Their New Video

"Powershifter", the new video from US metallers Fear Factory, can now be watched at this location.

The video clip is actually a fully fan-filmed labor of love captured in London earlier this year. In fact, for 23-year-old video blogger Myles Dyer, the chance to film the band on and off stage for four shows was a dream come true.

Myles states: "To think that years ago I would be sitting at home watching their DVD's over and over again, dreaming that one day I could see them live! And not only that," he goes on to say on his website, "I got to meet them and... got the go on tour with them... become actual friends with the guys... words will never explain how I feel!"

You can find "Powershifter" on Mechanize, released in February.

Septicflesh - New Album Update

Last time we checked, Greek metallers Septicflesh were working on a follow-up to 2008's Communion. Today, the band has issued the following album update:

"The creation of the 10 songs that will appear on the next album of Greek daemons Septicflesh, is approaching the final stage. The musical result can be described as a great mass of emotional death.

One of the dominant elements of the album is the use of the characteristic guitar melodies of the band in a more intense and dramatic way. In combination with the orchestral parts that will surpass everything else that the band has done in the past, the sound resembles to a funeral concerto. Actually, it appears that the whole atmosphere of the album is one step closer to the depths of Hades... Also, as actually Septicflesh is in the wider sense an artistic dark experiment, the nightmarish visual world of Seth Siro Anton that is part of this experiment is going to be expanded towards extremity in order to "dress" fittingly the soundscapes and the new mysterious lyrical thematology.

The recordings will take place in Athens (in Devasoundz studios owned by the band) and in Prague (again with the help of the Filmharmonic Orchestra and Choir of Prague under the direction of Christos Antoniou) from August until the mid of September 2010. The mix will take place in Sweden on October 2010. The band is looking forward to work for the first time with well known producer Peter Tägtgren as previously announced."

Alcest - Working On New Album, Recruit New Live Bassist

Alcest's be all and end all, Neige, has posted the following statement on the band's MySpace blog:

"After having crossed Europe and North America with Alcest, unfortunately, Fursy Teyssier (Amesoeurs) will not be able to keep on playing bass live due to a lack of time. I guess we will play again togather when he will start making concerts with Les Discrets, I can't wait for that. A new bass player already joined us, Indria (from Lonesoul, Brutal Rebirth, ex-Peste Noire). He will be a part of the Alcest live line-up from the next shows we will do, in Finland.

Otherwise I am already working on the next album, which will be recorded in January-February 2011."

To finish in a musical way, here's a nice piano cover of "Sur L'Océan...".

Spiritual Beggars - Licensing Deal For Japanese Release

It's official. Spiritual Beggars have pretty much been the busiest band in the last two months. After parting ways with singer JB earlier in June, the Swedish metal band went ahead and got another vocalist, clinched a record deal with InsideOutMusic, and are now on the brink of releasing their 7th studio album - the first in five years - entitled Return To Zero (all album details available here).

And then yesterday, the band signed a deal with Japanese label Trooper Entertainment Inc, founded by legendary Japanese heavy metal music industry guru Mr. Tetsu Miyamoto. The Japanese release date has been set for August 25.

Guitarist Michael Amott (yep, that Michael Amott) comments: "The team at Trooper Entertainment Inc. are the same great people that have done so much for my career in Japan for many years now. I am very much looking forward to getting the new Spiritual Beggars music to Japanese fans in August and playing over there in October!"

The band has also been confirmed for the Loudpark 10 festival, set to take place October 16-17 at Saitama Super Arena, a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Saitama City, Japan.
