Nitrous - Sophomore Album Details, Two Songs Available

Nailboard Records press release

Relentless, intense, intelligent ? the sophomore output by Nitrous, entitled "Outlaw Racer", represents the huge leap the band has taken towards brilliance in both composition and lyrics after the 2006 debut "Dominant Force", while staying true to the rugged, no-holds-barred aesthetics of traditional thrash metal as well as the passion for extreme machineries. The world's first and foremost drag racing thrash band has grown darker, fiercer and less predictable, which tracks like "Black Cargo Cult", "Core of Molten Fire" and "Summons to Hephaestus" clearly demonstrate. Take a hit of Nitrous, go outlaw now! Album out on November 25.

07. Aural Pain Threshold

Kalmah - Writing New Material

Kalmah have posted the following message on their website:

"As many of you might have noticed there has been a media silence for a while in Kalmah camp and there is a reason. We have been writing material for the sixth Kalmah album which will be recorded during Spring 2009. Inspiration has not let us down and we have all in all five songs in the process. So where we are going with the new stuff? At this point all I can say we like the new songs and if we like them we know there will be some fans to feel likewise.

If you want to hear the new material be sure to get on board SpineFeast at sea. I'm pretty sure we will play at least one new song live."

Arsis - Announce New Members

Vocalist/guitarist Jim Malone has posted the following update:

"There is a lot going on in the land of ARSIS these days. For starters, we will be heading overseas in a few weeks for our first European tour ever where we have the pleasure of sharing the stage with Morbid Angel, Kataklysm, Marduk, and Keep Of Kalessin. We are all so excited for this! Since the departure of Noah Martin from the band, we have been performing with a new bassist named Nick Cordle. I can not say enough good things about Nick; he is truly an amazing musician. Aside from being a great bassist, he fucking rips on guitar. He is without a doubt one of the best musicians I have ever had a chance to play with. We would also like to thank Shawn Priest for playing drums with us for the past four months and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. Starting with the European tour, we will be working with drummer David Kinkade, formerly of Malevolent Creation and Divine Empire. David also plays drums in Borknagar and I feel that we'll be working with him for a long time. He is one the most 'real' people that I have ever met. Look for Arsis on a headlining tour of The States in the late winter. Hope to see you at a show!"

Drummer David Kinkade comments on his joining the band: "I am very excited to join the ranks of Arsis. James, Ryan and I have many of the same influences and goals in what we want out of a band and in our overall drive for music. The tunes are fun to play and I can't wait to see what the future brings with these phenomenal musicians. The set list is sounding sick at rehearsal and I trust that the upcoming tour, being Arsis' European debut, will CRUSH Europe. As posted last week, I have also joined Borknagar as the new full-time drummer. Neither of the obligations in both bands will interfere with each other. Just expect a lot of activity on my end in these next few months. See you all on tour."

Bassist Nick Cordle adds: "It's a huge honor and thrill to join Arsis! The shows so far have been a pretty damn good time and it's a great privilege to play & hang with James, Ryan, and David. Arsis have been a favorite band of mine for many years now and to be able to play a role in its future is quite excellent. I'm drawing a huge amount of energy from the atmosphere in the band both musically and personally -- we are deadly focused and out for blood! The European tour is going to be truly wicked!"

Algaion - Reunited And Working On New Material

After a great long decade of silence, Swedish Melodic Black Metallers Algaion is back to the fold, reunited and preparations of a new full-length album are underway.

Previously busy on his stint with other bands (Hypocrisy, Pain, etc) and also currently in Swedish Power Metal band Morifade, Mathias Kamijo decided that it was time to resurrect the ghost of Algaion and brought it back to life in 2008 together with founding member Mårten Björkman.

New blood have since joined the Algaion camp, with current members from Coporation 187 (Viktor Klint and Robert Eng contributing on guitars and drums respectively) and Tobias Leffler (previously in Vergelmer and N.C.O) on bass.

In the meantime, the band signed a record deal with Pulverised Records. The label commented: "It is our great pleasure to have Algaion join the ranks of the Pulverised Records roster; we are very excited and definitely looking forward to a great working releationship with such a veteran class act!"

Algaion was formed in the early autumn of 1993, but already broke up five years later, after releasing two full-lengths. Peter Tägtgren, who recorded one of those albums, also played drums on one of the band's EP's.

All info about the band on http://www.algaion.com/ and http://www.myspace.com/algaion.

Evereve - Recording New Album

Evereve have issued the following update regarding their new upcoming album:

"As you probably still remember from our previous announcements, there will be new EverEve music coming your way. By now we have finished up the songwriting, additional planning and prepare for the upcoming production. We'll record a cycle of three songs we call "E - Mission" where each of the songs ("Revelation, "Reborn" and "Regret") are tied together in a conceptional sense. So it basically is a continuation of the EverEve history, lyrically and musically, which you are familiar with and still packed with surprises based on new and different aspects of our creativity!

But there is more. Such as the three songs are going to be produced by ourselves in cooperation with Mario Melle (who has been already a part of the pre-production for "Tried & Failed").

We expect to complete the production by February/March 2009 and are looking at a release right after finishing in spring of 2009. Since there lies somewhat of an uncertain future ahead of the music industry and especially CD-production, we have decided to not go down the conventional path with this release, but rather use new ways of getting the music to you! It's pretty much the only way for us as well, to deliver a quality product for an affordable price without us getting shipwrecked financially. Besides, we are not really interested in supporting the continuous rise in CD prices and dubious politics of certain labels. Nevertheless will we still get our music to you on a quality level you're used to, incl. the adequate artwork, lyrics, photos etc. More infos follow soon."

Old Man's Child - New Album Recorded

Century Media records have confirmed that Norwegian melodic black metal masters Old Man's Child are back at last... and with a vengeance.

The band led by guitarist / vocalist Galder (Dimmu Borgir) just returned to their Norwegian home from a trip to Gothenburg, Sweden, where they spent some weeks laying down the new unholy compositions at Studio Fredman with Fredrik Nordström, who had previously worked with the band on their "In Defiance Of Existence" (2003) and "Vermin" (2005) albums.

The new Old Man's Child studio album's title has not yet been revealed, but the release will feature Peter Wildoer (Darkane, ex-Arch Enemy, Pestilence, etc.) on drums and having freshly finished his takes for the total of 9 classy new songs, here is Peter's comment on the material and the recording session:

"After having being asked to be part of the new OMC album, I obviously went back and listened to the previous releases of the band, so I now am able to say that in my opinion, these new 9 songs are the best material I have heard of the band so far. There is a lot of more variety going on and the album will sound bigger than any other OMC record before.

As far as my performance goes, this is probably the best drumming I have ever recorded so far. I am extremely happy and proud of the session and there's a lot more double bass and blast beats on here than you have normally heard me doing, so look out for this great record!"

Led Zeppelin - Present Day Developments

Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones has spoken to BBC Radio about Led Zeppelin's future plans and it would seem that a new album is in the works as well as a new tour.

"It would seem as", though original frontman Robert Plant is not going to be part of the band's future plans. But bassist John Paul Jones has confirmed rumours that Led Zeppelin have been having regular rehearsals and are planning something big for the near future.

After confirming that "a couple" of singers have tried out for the band, JPJ went on to say: "We want to do it. It's sounding great and we want to get on and get out there."

On the subject of a new vocalist for the band, Jones said: "It's got to be right. There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be on board."

Also eGigs.co.uk reported a few days ago that John Paul Jones has confirmed reports that that he, guitarist Jimmy Page and drummer Jason Bonham ? following the band's one off appearance at O2 Arena, London last year ? were itching to get out on the road. Singer Robert Plant has already announced that he has no plans to join them, as he was committed to his work with Alison Krauss, although they could be reunited with him in "a couple of years."

According to a posting on the band's MySpace, Zimmers Hole is no longer a part of the upcoming European Tour with Soilwork, as drummer Gene Hoglan has suffered a death in his family.

"From our hearts, we send Gene and the entire Hoglan family all of our love, and deepest condolences at this difficult time. The Hoglan family is the "first family of metal", and we are all deeply saddened.", commented the band.

Also, bassist Byron Stroud is nursing a broken hand. The band adds: "Byron is not only our bassist, his duties also include band manager and road manager. He is vital to us. While Byron's injury was untimely, he felt he could be ready in time for the tour. With the sad news from the Hoglan family, there was no way we could do this and be focused in any way.
