Khold - On A Break

Khold have posted the following message on their official website :

"We are sorry to announce that Khold has been put on ice for an undetermined length of time.

The members of Khold feel they need a break to gather their thoughts about the future. The members will each have their own projects from this day on.

Sarke and Gard will continue with their pre-Khold project; Tulus. They will enter studio and record their fourth album.

Rinn is about to build his own studio and will start producing other artists as well as continuing a previous project; Sensa Anima.

Grimd is proud to announce that he will be an organ donor. In order to keep his organs in the best possible condition he will make sure they're drenched with alcohol most of the time.

This announcement does not mean that Khold is dead and buried. We all still keep in touch with each other. If the time is right Khold will once again rise from the icy north!

We would like to thank all our fans for all your support through all these years!"

Voivod - New Album Update

Canada's pioneering metal band Voivod have set July 25 as the North American release date (via The End Records) for their much-anticipated album 'Katorz.'

The legendary band has worked alongside veteran producer Glen Robinson (Voivod's 'Nothingface,' Tea Party') to create an album that will continue the legacy of their fallen friend/bandmember/guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour.

'Katorz' was recorded at Multisons studio in Montreal, Quebec, Canada where Robinson and the band - drummer Michael "Away" Langevin, singer Denis "Snake" Belanger and bassist Jason "Jasonic" Newsted - utilized all of the guitar parts that founding guitarist "Piggy" had recorded for the record on his laptop with ProTools before his death last summer.

Artwork and a full track-listing for the album will be released in the coming weeks.

You can check out the new Voivod track "The X-Stream" found on The End Records sampler 'Alternate Endings' by clicking here

Pain Of Salvation - Studio Update

Daniel Gildenlöw has posted the following message on the official website :

"The drums have now been recorded for "Scarsick". Me and Johan went down to Orebro and the Fascination Street Studio (previously Studio Kuling) for the recording. As usual, Jens was a true pleasure to work with. And, as usual, Johan pulled everything off with ease. The whole album was done in less than five days."

"I guess we are a bit old school when it comes to music. We still want the album to be played rather than trigged, fixed and quantized. This could slow things up, but on the other hand you are forced to learn to play and in the end you will be more effective after all. If we are to believe Jens, he hasn't been as relaxed and had such confident in a drummer since his school days, and no album recording had apparently focused so much on real playing for at least three years. I allow myself to be a bit cynical when I consider that, by a coincident, that happens to be just about the time when we were there the last time for the "BE" drum recording."

"Now, I am only longing to get the new drum files into my studio computer and start building the real album up. Only bad thing, as usual, is that in the coming process I am going to have to recreate all the mistakes from the demo recording since, by now, I have come to love them and would miss them if they were left out. As usual."

Anathema - New Song Online

Anathema have posted the following message on their official website :

"Here we present a brand new Anathema song called 'Everything'.

It has been recorded and mixed by the band, independent of any record company. We decided to give this song directly to the public as soon as it was finished, as a thank you to all those people who have kept faith with anathema and what we are doing.

Anathema presently has no record deal. For this reason we have included a Donate Option, where you can help the band by donating a small amount to the process of recording this new record.
In return, we will present more songs for you to download over the coming weeks and months. These versions will be exclusive and not available anywhere else.

Here is an opportunity for people to support a band directly, instead of filling the pockets of anonymous businessmen.

The sentiment of this song is one of hope. Of truth. We are very proud of it. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it."

Download the song here.
