Carcass - Replacing Mastodon On Graspop Metal Meeting

Earlier this week, we informed you that Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelleher was diagnosed with pancreatitis (a sudden inflammation of the pancreas) forcing the band to cancel all summer live shows, including their appearance on Graspop Metal Meeting.

The festival organization has now confirmed they will replace awesome with awesome, which means that none other than the legendary Carcass will take Mastodon's slot on the main stage Saturday afternoon.

Other recent line-up changes inlcude: Rise To Remain out, Iron Mask in; Steel Panther out, The Poodles in; Hell Yeah was already replaced by Evergrey, and also Billy Talent has been added to the line-up.

Graspop Metal Meeting will take place June 25th-27th in Dessel, Belgium. For an overview of the must-see bands, head to this location.

hmm, i would like to see Carcass not because i'm a grindcore/death metal maniac, i think the bands lack a bit of variety, in the sense that aside from maybe Slayer there are no really extreme metal bands on the bill. plus, i've never been to a death metal gig.

Carcass was without a doubt one of the best shows I've ever been to. It's definitly a worthwhile endeavor. And a worthwhile tradeoff XD

Have you seen Carcass (recently) and Mastodon live? I'm sure you have, but from both shows I've seen them on, Carcass destroys Mastodon live, even though both play well.

I found Carcass live even worse than Mastodon. Very uninspired, just like Heaven & Hell live. Then again never found Carcass too good live, not even during their great period of the first two albums.

I've gotta agree with Marcel here, Carcass was amazing live, very good band but it looks like playing live for them is more of a job than anything. They don't seem very into it, their amazing songs are what has drawn me to 2 of their shows. Mastodon on the other hand played a next to Godly performance here in Dallas while on tour with Dethklok. I only like one album from Mastodon but they played it so well and full of energy when I saw them live. Mastodon wins imo only by a slim margin though

Well live and musically they are very different bands! quite pointless comparing them, but either way the audience is in for a treat
