I agree, although I don't know that Kelly Clarkson.
anyway, I don't know about the entire album but at least this song cannot be tagged as symphonic metal.
Among several ingredients, the guitars sound much weaker than previous albums and the rhythms are quite simplistic.

This is not the Within Temptation that I used to listen to, the songs suck and are way too simple.

What a fall from grac... I mean fall from being sort of good, with average songwriting, but tons of raw power and great atmopshere such as displayed on Mother Earth. This is just shit, I am sorry, but it is. I'd rather listen to puppies puking to death than WT new stuff.
Just think about this for a moment:
1998: Sharon sings on Arjen Anthony Lucassen's Into The Electric Castle.
2001: Sharon lends her vocals for Tobias Sammet's The Metal Opera.
2008: Sharon co-writes and performs a song for Armin Van Buuren's Imagine.
Sigh...

The song sounds a bit like HIM's cover of Wicked Game. for me it sounds nice
and come on, you eyeliner boys and corset girls crying about "selling out", quit whining already. would you really rather have them make something they're possibly tired of doing? just find something else to listen to, instead of expecting everyone to always be tireless champions of pure artistic integrity 24/7

Totally agree. I loved that song very much. It has wonderful atmosphere and I don't give a crap about them being "commercial" or "sell-outs". Come on, don't be whinies. As the dude said, everyone gets tired of doing the same thing throughout all career. Bands need to evovle. If that is WT's path then so be it. You can follow it or just listen to the old stuff.

actually... yes, I would

I don't like the video, I don't like their new web site and I don't like the change they've gone through to what seems like an ordinary rock band. Yet I will probably get this album as I'm a sucker for catchy melodies. I WANT to dislike Faster (musicaly) but somehow I can't really... As all bands they progress and do new things. Sometimes we don't like it sometimes we do, that's the nature of creating music.

you're both right on some level, the song is quite nice, reminds me of bon jovi and i still like bon jovi but on the other hand it's funny how most bands "evolution" tends to be in the pop-ular direction once they get some recognition, just an obseervation... personally this band died for me with the previous album, but no so much that i wouldn't go to see them live though. i loved them live

This band is not my thing, never was, but the singer's performance in this song is excellent; the song is just catchy, some guitar solos could have improved the song.

Brilliant song from a brilliant band who evolves on every album. Sharon is by far the best female singer for this kind of music.

Terrible. Guitar solo wasn't existent, chorus consisted of one word, could barely even hear the instrumentals. I can't think of anything this song did well.

you realise you just contradicted yourself three times?
1. making music they're tired of doing won't give anyone any satisfaction
2. accusing them of selling out is accusing them of appealing too much to the audience's tastes
3. without their own satisfaction, you're not going to get music from them at all

1. Why not... playing in a band is like any other job: If you're a professional you will still do it well even if you're tire of it.
2. you're confusing me with someone else, I'm not accusing them of selling out -I don't even think they were too idealist about art before but I liked the music nevertheless.
3. who knows... I personally think this style change is due to a corporate decision that targets a new audience. I don't really buy they are making their dream true, at least not musically speaking.

I'm sorry but I have to say this too: you should have quoted the whole statement which starts with "Who knows..."
So, of course I don't know "that" -it's just what I think/believe about it.

Great song, and an equally great video! If there's more tracks like this one, I'm sure it will get plenty of plays throughout 2011 for me

it sounds like that song, very much, and that song was a cover... this sounds like a cover of that cover with different lyrics... still nice, but I think they should credit Chris Isaak and HIM
