Therion - Announce New Releases
Apart from the rock opera they are working on, Therion have now announced more releases for February 21st. More specifically, the deluxe edition CD + DVD of their classic album Theli as well as a 3-DVD package (limited edition including bonus DVD) called Adulruna Redivia And Beyond. Their new studio album is scheduled for late 2014. You have a lot to look forward to this year.
Theli was the fifth studio album of Therion, released in August 1996. The successful album features Therion's hit "To Mega Therion" as well as the 10-minute epos "The Siren Of The Woods" and the hymn "Cults Of The Shadow". It features two different choirs and Dan Swanö from Edge Of Sanity as a guest singer. The deluxe edition of Theli has three more bonus tracks: "In Rememberance", "Black Fairy" and a cover version of Scorpions's "Fly To The Rainbow" as well as a bonus DVD with the entire album performed live.
On top of that, there will be a double live DVD and bonus DVD, limited edition digipak called Adulruna Redivia And Beyond. The two shows were recorded live in Atlanta in 2011 and in Budapest in 2007.
The band commented: "The concert recorded in Hungary was a concert on the Adulruna Rediviva 20 year Anniversary-Tour in December. The idea of the tour was to play the entire Theli album + a set consisting of songs that the fans had voted for on the band web page. Piotr Wawrzeniuk and our old friend Messiah Marcolin joined in to make this evening extra special. The concert in Atlanta was the band's only show in the USA since 2007 and was shot during the band's headline performance at the ProgPower festival 2011."

Same here with Sitra Ahra. It felt like Christopher just handed over the album to his new line up and just went with it and the overall experience was bland. It wasn't the Therion that i got into. I never bothered picking up their French Covers album neither. I just hope that they can put out something memorable in the future

Written by Opethian on 11.01.2014 at 19:18 If I remember well, Sitra Ahra was composed mainly by left-overs from Lemuria/Sirius B era, doubt thet new line-up had much involvment. The result was the same anyway, very bland and forgettable.

Of course the quality of the music was remarkable, but Therion can do much better. So, still I'm waiting for some fresh news concerning this swedish band) By the way Agalloch has announced about new album release, These americans are also magicians)

Written by Lord Dimitriy on 08.02.2014 at 09:35 My thoughts exactly! Don't het me wrong, I'm totally looking for the new rock opera, by the looks of it, it can be amazing. But then again, I also believed Les Fleurs Du Mal will be amazing, but that really wasn't my cup of tea. So I really don't know what to expect. Whilst everything pre Sitha Ahra done in the past - well to say at least 10 (more 15) years - was purely amazing. And also, not to sound bitter or anything, but the last time I saw them (the tour after the release of Sitha Ahra) they were at their weakest (saw them twice before) live. But I'm really hoping the energy's not all gone and they will continue their path with the same dynamics, we're used to.

Such album could be released by any symphonic metal band, but not Therion. Poor guitar riffs, no fresh ideas, and I would even say, it was primitive symphonic metal album. I don't like primitive symphonic or power metal albums. Especially, taking into consideration sucj Therion albums as Deggial, Lemuria, Theli and others.. So the last album was devastating disappointment. And I really felt sorry when read the news that Christofer dismissed Mats Leven from the band. And finally he couldn't replace him. That is sad(

I myself however am not keen on heavy metal vocalists, but Mats Leven blew me away with his perfomance with Therion, especially live. That guy can deliever without any flaws. I was saddened and disappointed as well when he was out of the picture. Thomas Vikström is a bit, well, cheap to me. Vocally he's not the best thing out there and perfomance-wise, a bit overdramatic. Therion was suppose to be telling you a story in their show, and they do, but for me the ensemble from Lemruia/Sirious B was superb and cannot be replaced. They had such great symbiosis & energy and I miss that in Therion. What Therion is doing now live is, well, a bit ''too much'' (I was just recently checking at some youtube videos of their live performances, I last saw them in 2011 I think). I would love if they'd loose some of that cliché drama stage performance and go back to the sympho ''rock n roll' performance.
