Ne Obliviscaris - 'Early Years' Limited Edition EP Announced

Ne Obliviscaris are releasing another EP as part of their world tour crowdfunding campaign. Ne Obliviscaris have already released an EP of three new songs, which sold out quickly, but are now releasing the Early Years limited edition EP. This will also be strictly limited to 300 copies only, and will be featuring 3 songs from 2003-2004, their two first years of existence, and are also some of the very first songs they ever wrote.

The band says of these songs: "We have never played them live, never released them before and honestly never planned to. But we think fans will appreciate hearing where we started, and hopefully will appreciate knowing more about our journey to where we are today as a band."

The tracklist will be:

01. Beyond The Hourglass
02. Within The Chambers Of Stars
03. Felo De Se

It's available now with the following prices:

$55 reward: Early Years EP CD only
$75 reward: EP & Exclusive new T-Shirt
$105 reward: EP & Exclusive new Hoodie
$125 reward: EP & Exclusive new Hoodie & T-Shirt

You can get it here if you are fast enough. The band has already surpassed their target and also added other new rewards.

As great as this is that they are reaching their goals via crowd funding, on a fundamental level I would NEVER pay a minimum of $55 for a 3-song EP, limited or no. And I hate it when bands do this, making a ridiculously small limited number of something and not even release it digitally.

Well, as you have understood this is to generate money so they can do their world tour, who knows if they're not making this available digital as well some time?

Yeah, on one level I get it, and I'm glad they're getting support and being able to tour. But damn, not everyone has $90 to drop on three songs. I could buy 8 or 9 full length albums with that, maybe more. I mean, this kind of thing is almost encouraging piracy. It'd be different if they were giving the donors first crack and this stuff would be released at a later date on a compilation or something. But the band has said it will NEVER be released again. That's kind of a tough pill to swallow if you're a big fan and don't have $180 for six songs. You loved their recent album, told everyone you know to check it out, got pumped to hear the new stuff, and now you're never going to get to (legally) hear it? Ouch.

Again, I am thrilled they're getting funded to tour, but man... there are better ways, aren't there? I want to support them too, but I can't justify blowing half a paycheck doing it when I've got kids to worry about.

I hear ya ... I bought the first EP they had announced, cause I love the shit out of this band, but seriously .. that price is ridiculous .. ok that money goes straight into touring, but they still could have made it cheaper .. like 30$. That's still more expensive than any full length

Hopefully they'll continue their funding campaign by putting these EPs up for digital download on bandcamp for, say, $10 apiece. They'd likely get a lot more funding from this after the EPs are sold out. I'd buy them this way for sure.
