Ne Obliviscaris - Another New Song Released

Australian progressive metal outfit Ne Obliviscaris have released another song from their upcoming album Citadel, called "Pyrrhic". Ne Obliviscaris have already revealed two parts from the 23 minute long song "Painters Of The Tempest" (which still can be heard here and here), but this time around they are revealing a full-blown, almost 10-minute track.

"Pyrrhic" is described by Ne Obliviscaris as "10 minutes of some of the most intense music we've ever written." What are your thoughts about it?

Citadel will be out on the 7th of November through Season Of Mist.

Does anyone else feel like this song is just long for the sake of being long? For me it was clearly over at around 5 minutes and then there's almost 5 more minutes of outro that didn't fit at all.

Nope. I get the feeling that acoustic guitars bore you.

Well, you're wrong, since I love acoustic guitars.

Nop. The final 5 minutes was pure emotion imo. Maybe the transition could have been better but it didn't feel like a side piece was just pasted to the end for the sake of longevity.

I think it could have easily been split into two tracks. The transition is probably what bothers me though.

I disagree, since it works its way back up to the central motiff before the track ends.

Not really, because the clean part pretty clearly references or is based on the clean vocal motif/main riff.

I actually think it's all pretty much based on the one motif. Which is really awesome.

Fair enough, but I still think the transition could have been done better. (and overall I think the song could have done without the second part, but that's just my opinion)
Anyways, about the song itself, it's pretty decent, I like it way better than the first one they released (Curator), although the second one they released is still my favorite so far (Painters Of The Tempest Part 3.)

The song is OK, just OK. It could've been much better. It's like they are not trying to create something new anymore.

For my taste, this is a perfect song. That's how I'd write music if I had a band.

Knew you were going to be here to (once again) complain about this band and their music.

Honestly, I'll check out this album when I can fully stream it. Right now accupied with the new Blut Aus Nord album, which so far sounds very nice.

Haha, sorry. I'll just keep my further opinions about this album to myself. I really want to like them again you know

Yeah, I know. I can just see how it would annoy some people. If someone were to be unimpressed with Sylosis and post about it on every single thread I could see myself rolling my eyes every time

Sylosis, what a totally generic, crappy and overrated band...

(kidding of course, even though I checked out the debut and it didn't click with me at all, so it's not my cup of tea)
