Moonspell - Share New Song, Mediabook Cover Art

As you know, Moonspell are releasing a new album this next March called Extinct. Well, then you are probably curious about the music, right? So, here it is the first taste, the single "The Last Of Us" through the official clip provided by the band. Apart from the music, you can also see below the mediabook cover artwork for the album, which is slightly different from the jewelcase cover also created by Seth Siro Anton. What do you think of this first song? Is it what you were expecting?

This edition will be a two disc edition, containing the full album, plus bonus songs remixed by guitarist/keyboardist Pedro Paixão and a full documentary named Road To Extinction which contains not only the making of the album as well some scientific context about Extinction.

The song premiered on the Portuguese radio station Antena 3.

What the... ? The media book artwork is as ugly as the previous one, but on top of that, it's totally ridiculous. No, really, look at this hat

Seems like they are going for a more gothic approach on this one. But maybe it's just the single. But I like it, it's not a bad song. I'm getting a "The Antidote" kind of feel and I love that album.

Ana, there was no need to post again that horrendous cover

Anyway, nice song. Stoked for the whole album... But Moonspell rarely disappoint.

Not a bad song. Reminds me a lot of the stuff they did for Omega White. To be honest, I was expecting something a bit different this time. Not that I hate gothic rock, on contrary, but I was hoping for something more fresh-sounding. Well, who knows, maybe it's just this one song.
As for the cover, I wouldn't call it horrendous. It's just... Not the best Seth ever did. Sometimes I think he tries to put too many details into the pictures, which makes it look messy.

Has he actually ever done anything good/ All I can remember are atrociously ugly covers done by him.

I think it's a matter of taste. I rather liked the cover of Alpha Noir/Omega White and the one for The Great Mass too. Also, the pictures he did for vinyl reissues of the earlier Septicflesh records are very nice. Especially the one for Esoptron, which, I think, is the best of his works, and A Fallen Temple.

Overally I really like Seth's works, but this one is horrible, moreover does not fit the style and atmosphere of Moonspell.

I'm all about gothic metal, but with Moonspell in particular it has been their more symphonic and harsher black facets that I've enjoyed more - perhaps the rest of the album will showcase their variety better.

In music doesn´t exist " not so bad ". One song its catchy or not...and this is not catchy...but anyway...i forever like and respect Moonspell...but maybe the best portuguese metal band its not moonspell...to everyone...listen heavenwood " swallow " album

The only decent one I can remember is "At The Gate Of Sethu". And even if I like it, most people probably don't.

It is ok, just that... Sounds like it was taken from Omega White session... I miss that old Moonspell mysticism and casual "middle eastern" parts, those are the things that made them such an iconic band... Their last album was too much radio friendly and so is this song, and I'm not fan of it.... Hope the rest of the album will be a lot better...

Too much Darkness And Hope, too little interesting stuff going on. Color me completely unimpressed. I hope this is going to be one of the throwaways, because an album filled with "The Last of Us"s would just plain suck.

Finally someone who shares my point of view. For a second there I though I'm plain deaf, since most I've heard nothing than praises about this song. I really hope Moonspell have pulled one of those ''Let's release the lamest song first" kinda thingies. I really hope the album will be daker and more agressive, because that's the Moonspell I like.

I don't see how anyone other than a full-blown Moonspell fanboy/fangirl can praise this. By Moonspell standards, this is about as mediocre as it possibly gets. It's kinda like they took all the dullest parts of the faster songs on Darkness and Hope and mashed them together. It's not exactly bad, per se, but it's totally unnecessary.
Also "My curse is to love you"? Really, Ribeiro? Really?

To tell you the truth, I was faintly hoping for another Butterfly Effect. There were too many "miss" tracks on that one, which dragged down the overall impression, but the ones they hit ("Tired", "Soulsick", "Soulitary Vice", "Angelizer" etc.) they knocked out of the stratosphere, they were easily some of Moonspell's best. My hope was they ran out of their melodic and harsh albums to copy and decided to go full experimental again, but alas....

Yes, yes & yes.

Moonspell can really surprise - negatively or positively - but this was just something I wasn't prepared for. I was hoping something a bit Memorial-ish, at least; the combination of obscure romanticism and bone crushing rhythms is what I always hope for when it comes to Moonspell. Which is why I really, really (really!) hope this tracks is not at all representative of the album.

I also got a "The Antidote" feeling when listening to it, so that's a good thing since it's a great album. This song is pretty decent, but it's nothing great.

If anything, the music will be superior to the ludicrously bad artwork. The style of Omega White is great and I really hope they continue with it. I'd hate it if they made an album similar to Memorial/Alpha Noir.

Have to agree with you on that. I still think Sin/Pecado is one of their best albums while it's quite overlooked.

Yeah, that does sound pretty bad and cheesy, doesn't it...

Yeah, The Butterfly Effect has to be their most inconsistent album indeed. A few great, but also a few very boring tracks. Actually I would say "Can't Bee" is the best song on there. The typical Sin/Pecado (a much more consistent album) style which I like a lot.
