Katatonia - Referenced In Second Video Game, Finish Drum Recordings
On November 10th, Bethesda Softworks released their new game Fallout 4, the fourth major installment in the Fallout series, and the Swedish band Katatonia makes another Easter egg appearance in one of their games! Furthermore, Katatonia have recently confirmed that they finished the drum work for the new album which is expected in 2016. They are searching for a new guitar player as session live guitarist Tomas Åkvik will leave after the 70000 Tons of Metal cruise in January.
In particular, the lyrics from their song "Dead Letters" are mentioned in the military log (see attached picture) in Fallout 4 written by a fictional character, Sergeant J.P. Renkse, which is another reference, this time - to the band's singer and songwriter, Jonas Renkse. The also mentioned abbreviation "D-E-K" most likely refers to the band's latest studio album, Dead End Kings.

Katatonia was previously referenced in another Bethesda game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, where the players were able to find a book named "Nystrom's journal" (referring to the band's guitar player and songwriter, Anders Nyström), which mentioned Night Is The New Day (the band's then latest album) and "Ghost Of The Sun" (one of the song titles) as nonsensical phrases overheard by the game's fictional and unseen character, Nystrom.
It was also previously revealed that one of Bethesda Softworks' developers is a big fan of Katatonia and that their music helped him work during his night shifts, so it appears he's still paying respect to the band! Someone also reported that there were references to Fear Factory and Strapping Young Lad in Fallout 3.
