Tool - To Begin Recording New Album

In the last few years, we've had a few updates on the songwriting process for the new Tool album. However, the prog band has taken the next step and is about to record their first new material since the release of 2006's 10,000 Days. Joe Barresi is at the helm of the recordings which are about to begin. More than ten years later, Tool are finally delivering another new album.

Here is their latest update: "Who's ready for some major breaking news? Brace yourself; get ready... okay, here we go. We are very excited to announce what is sure to be welcome news for both fans of Tool and prog-metal enthusiasts in general. After all the years of writing and arranging (and re-arranging) at the band's loft, I can at this time officially report that the guys have moved into a major studio where the recording process for the next album is about to begin in earnest. For the past few days the band members have been getting sonically adjusted to their new surroundings - dialing in the equipment settings and restaurant catering choices - in preparation for Danny to begin his tracking any time now - perhaps by the time that you read this!

"I am also excited to announce that 'evil' Joe Barresi will once again have his capable fingers at the engineering controls for what will certainly be another masterful Tool offering by the talented team. Pinch yourself if you want, but I have been told that all systems are go at this point for the upcoming sessions. I will be posting periodic bits and pieces on the progress of the tracking once the guys get deeper into the recording process, and hope that all of you will keep checking back to the official website for these updates. In the meantime, be sure to also visit the individual band members' sites and socials (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) for more inside glimpses as Tool prepares for the next stage in their musical odyssey."

Stay tuned for details on the album, including title, release date and more.

I don't care about any news until the headline is "Tool's new album has hit store shelves everywhere"

I'll believe it when I see it, hear it, and am holding the physical CD in my hands (even then, maybe not). I remember seeing a similar announcement on here a few years back, but still nothing. And Wintersun fans think they have it bad.

Well seeing the various interviews and statements spanning the last few months it could drop this year. I'll just hope all goes smoothly from here and that neither of the members will feel the need to recompose any of the material anymore.

I'm going to say one thing: System of a Down or Wintersun are both more likely to release an album before 2020 than these guys are.

Tool threads are always funny

For real though, I have absolutely no hopes for this album but I'll be glad it if ever happens!

^ overrated? maybe a little bit. Commencing hate? Not necessary.
No one believes they will release anything any time soon, which is quite hilarious.

Now people will listen to the album and expect it to be unbelievably good, because 12 years have passed since the previous one.
Which in turn will make people disappointed, because no band under the sun can match this mountain of expectations, not even Tool.

There's a trick to enjoy it once it comes out nontheless. That is if the new album will be good. If you feel letdown after the first listen, wait a few years and listen to it again and you'll be like: oh this is actually quite good.
