Khôrada - Stream New Album

Brand-new band Khôrada, featuring ex-Agalloch and Giant Squid members, is streaming their entire new album online. The new debut album out today, July 20th, on Prophecy Productions is titled Salt. After the split of Agalloch in 2016, John Haughm went on with his project Pillorian, whereas guitarist Don Anderson, bassist Jason Walton and drummer Aesop Dekker wanted to continue working together, but on something completely new. They ended up choosing Aaron Gregory of Giant Squid as the band's fourth member, and Khôrada was born.

Aaron Gregory commented: "I personally had zero interest in playing music similar to Agalloch," says Gregory. "It would have been fraudulent for me to do so. I loved Agalloch, obviously; they were fantastic. But I barely listen to anything else remotely close to black metal or neo-folk. That music isn't my area of expertise, let alone listening preference. If the intentions of these three guys were to continue the sound and aesthetic of Agalloch, I would have been the last person they would have chosen to fill the position of singer-guitarist."

Being a long term Giant Squid fan, I grew to love Aaron's vocals. I feel like his performance on this album is not as good as on Giant Squid's last album, but still pretty good stuff. And very refreshing music as a whole. Love the album!
