Cliff Burton - Gets Memorial Stone

In Connection with the 20th anniversary of Cliff's death (i.e. 27th September) a memorial stone for Cliff Burton was placed on Saturday 30th September, close to the site of the accident which took his life.

A picture of the stone can be seen here http://www.cliffinourminds.com/ceremony/5.jpg

An interview with James Hetfield in a Swedish newspaper can be found at http://www.cliffinourminds.com.

Why did he have to die, I don't know how, but I know Metallica would be alot better today if it wouldn't have happened. Maybe they would still be playing Thrash!

Anyone knows where in Sweden this is?

I know a Memorial Day in honor of Cliff Burton was held at The Gyllene Rasten venue (http://www.gyllenerasten.se), located in Ljungby, Dörarp, Sweden. And that is near the place of the accident/memorial stone...

BTW More photos can be viewed here.

If I ever go to Sweden, I shall definitely visit that place. Thrash Metal would sound much different if he were still alive today.

James Hetfield didn't pay for that, he didn't even know about it until it was finished. It was contributions from fans that paid the stone and it costed about $1250.

I should visit his memorial stone and pay my respects to him sometime in my life. Whenever I play 'Fade To Black', I always remember his work. Why was he taken from this world so soon?

Well grinder...i don't care you don't care. It really has nothing to do with being related and crap. That guys' ideas & work mean a hell of a lot to me and i don't give a rotten apple if it's been 20 or 200 hundred years. Those songs never die you know.
