Deventter - Recording Sophomore Album Finished

Original news, posted on 23.05.2009

On May, 16th, the Brazilian prog rock/metal band Deventter will begin recording its new album at the renowned Creative Studios in São Paulo. This is the same recording studio used by famous Brazilian bands such as Angra, Shaman, Krisiun, etc. Even Paul Di Anno has already recorded there.

Deventter will start recording the drums, following by the guitars. The guitar player André Marengo does not hide your excitement for the beginning of the recordings.
"We are anxious to begin recording the new CD. We all developed as musicians and this reflected in the new compositions that are heavier than our first album".

In times where much is discussed about the pros and cons of new technologies in front of the "vintage" recording methods, Deventter wants to merge the best of both worlds. "We are fans of pedals and effects. We use equipment from vintage to VST's, analog and digital effects. The important thing is to get the sound we want," says keyboardist Hugo Bertolaccini that defends the conventional recordings in studios instead of the home recordings, so in vogue at the moment. "We want to maximize the resources that Creative Studios is offering us. They have more than enough tools to meet our musical ambitions. Moreover, the studio works with a variety of bands and musical styles, and we will explore techniques that normally are not used in rock"

On the band's page at Youtube there are some videos of the pre-production sessions. The tracklist, title and even the cover of the new album are already defined, but the band keeps secret.

The new Deventter album is expected to reach the stores in September.

UPDATE

"Lead... On" will be the new album's title of the Brazilian progressive rock/metal band Deventter. This will be the band's second album, sucessor of the high acclaimed "The 7th Dimension" (2007). "Lead... On" is being recorded at Creative Studios (Angra, Shaman, Paul Di Anno) and Norcal Studios (Andreas Kisser, Edu Falaschi, etc), both in São Paulo (Brazil), and will bring the following tracks:

01. O.M.T
02. 6000
03. Bunkers & Bankers
04. Reflected
05. All Rights Removed
06. Transcendence Inc.
07. ...
08. This Grace
09. Losing Track Of Time
10. Down To The Apex
11. Lead...Off

According to the bassist Leonardo Milani, the title "Lead... On" gives flow to various interpretations, no matter if they have political, religious or philosophical nature.
"The title of our new work ("Lead... On") is the result of the search for a polyvalent word, that could have several meanings, depending on the fan interpretation. The reservedness are there to turn it a little more complicated."

Aesthetically, "Lead... On" means a continuation of "The 7th Dimension". The songs are connected to each other, although the work is not conceptual. Milani ensures that the album was very well planned in these terms. "The lyrics of each song tells, in a opened and pervasive way, the history and concept of the CD. For this, we used a set of distinct lyrical-I, which, besides creating more opportunities for the album, when opening of the exhibition of ideas from several points of view, simply leave things more interesting and gives us more space to explore the expressiveness of each song."

Deventter. I'll want to check this band out. The cover of their debut album The 7th Dimension is an excellent one.
