Hell yeah... Megadeth and Slayer at the same tour ... this must be fierce. I've seen Megadeth and Testament together in one show. But Slayer and Megadeth must be more 'classic'.

how is that more classic? they're all the same era west coast Big 5 thrash bands.

The west coast big five thrash bands? I've heard of the big four, but not the big five.

First off like Table o Black said... it is the Big Four of thrash and not five,
and secondly Anthrax who are part of the big four are from the east coast and not the west coast

Although Testament came from the Bay Area and has been around since 1983, their first album wasn't released until 1987. Slayer and Megadeth, specially if you take into consideration Mustaine's work with Metallica (1981-1983), have been active since 1981 releasing their first albums in 1983 and 1984 respectively. Also Megadeth and Slayer are two of the Big Four. So in that sense I feel like Megadeth and Slayer are more associated with the classic thrash metal sound than Testament. Anyway, that doesn't mean in any sense that Testament is not an original thrash metal band. I'm going to handbang on their thrashy songs in a couple of hours here in Istanbul

I know my thrash. more than i know my own brother.
watch "Get Thrashed". people say it should be the Big 5 to include Testament. I just include them anyway. why? cuz they're that fucking thrash.
also...
Testament was formed '83. Megadeth was formed '83. Slayer was formed '81. ...so, classic? how? 2 years hardly constitutes a difference in eras. no. they are the same era thrash bands. Bands still exist before they release their first album.

METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER, ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT. That's how i've known thrash, the big bands, the Big 5.

I know Get Thrashed, I reviewed it before anyone here had even seen it. I own both the screening version and the retail version and there is some difference between the two. But of course that s not what this is about.
In Get Thrashed only Mustaine mentions five instead of four.
As for years a band was formed that doesn't really come into the equation, because then Overkill should be there as well. It is all about how BIG the thrash bands were at the time, and let me guarantee you Testament wasn't big at all the big four were miles ahead of the rest popularity and sales wise. Even Exodus was bigger than Testament at the time. Another aspect that is important is the year of release of band's demos and debut albums. Testament only released their demo (still under the monicker of Legacy) in 1985 and their debut album only in 1987 so clearly making them part of the second thrash wave. Coming back to Exodus... they were a couple of years ahead of Testament both in the demo and debut album department.

ok, sales wins. i've always just known it as big 5. my mistake. still, back to square one, personally, i don't think slayer is any more "classic" than testament. but its a dumb argument. so it really doesn't matter. point of all this crap is that aussies will still have a kickass show.

True, I would give my right hand for this combo to play here in the The Netherlands. Last time I saw Megadeth with Slayer here was during the Clash Of The Titans tour all the way back in 1990
