Got my first tattoo finished a little while ago. It's dedicated to my mother whom recently passed away, and is inspired by the Nightwish album cover for "Once". My mother was a huge inspiration to me, and I love and miss her so much, I really wanted to immortalize my love and devotion to her. She was very religious, and loved drawings and portraits of angels, and thats where the idea came from to get a tattoo based on the "Once" album cover. It seemed so sad, beautiful, and fitting.

I was curious if anyone else had any metal inspired tattoo.

Here's my Destruction tattoo. I got it because the skull looks cool on their debut album, not because I like the band (but they are badass ). I'm not poetic so tattoos have no meaning to me other than looking cool.

A Mjolnir tattoo would be cool. I was at work and some badass 60 year old dude came in with a tat of Mjolnir on one arm, and the Heavy Metal cartoon chick raising a sword on the other one!

I got it when I was 18 and unfortunately the artist used cheap dyes, so its badly faded over the 20 years I've had it and looks like shit now, though it looked great when it was fresh. No real meaning to me, I just liked the design, though I've always had an affinity for dragons.



I'm actually starting on my next tattoo at the end of the month when I get my performance bonus for September. It's going on my right forearm and will consist of two bands of runes, the Elder FuÞark in the upper band and the Younger FuÞark in the lower band. Between them will be a valknut on the outside of my forearm and Mjollnir on the inside. Not really metal related, but spiritually significant for me.

I love it when I see old people with badass tattoos My mom's uncles have a lot of tattoos, but they got it when they were young so you can't see them very well now, besides the fact that they're really hairy as well.

Only one kind of tattoo will be metal enough to suit me: a tattoo of a butt with a butt tattoo on its butt, and I want the tattoo done on my butt.

I have the Metallica star (go figure right?) tattooed on my right shoulder blade. It's something I wanted ever since I was like 12 and as soon as I turned 18, I used my birthday money to get it! It's just a black outline of the star, nothin fancy but it's my favorite out of the ones I have anyways. They have been my favorite band for exactly half my life now so it holds a good deal of meaning to me.

When I was 11, the first concert I ever went to was a Metallica show and that's what sealed the deal for me

I have another great metal related tattoo. I'll have to post pics later but here's where it came from...take the demon from Iced earth - Burnt Offerings album cover and the demon from Cradle of Filth - Lovecraft & Witchhearts album cover and that's what I have. I took features of both demons and had the tattoo artist make one demon out of the features I wanted. He added his own touch to it as well and it looks fucking awesome! I also got that when i was 18 in celebration of getting a 4 year scholarship for college. I was saving my money for school but then I got the scholarship so I wasted some of it on this tat ;P

I have 2 other tattoos and they have no meaning whatsoever. They just look cool...not metal related but I suppose only a metalhead would have tats like them. and ofcourse these ones I have pics for but not the other 2! You Warhammer 40k geeks should recognize the first one lol

Yeh, touching up the tattoos is very good, and shouldn't be that expensive, that's what I though he should do as well. Besides, when touching it up again, they can even arrange it so it looks even cooler.

A touch up by a good artist may actually save that piece man, after 20 years it's bound to fade, moreso if you've had it exposed to an excess of sun light. If you ever get it redone get the artist to use a black ink with a blue base, not only are the solid areas of black a lot more dark but, the grey areas will flow much better...a touch of white here and there would make it pop a bit too.

In regards to the initial post. I don't have any band related tats', but what I do have could be considered fairly metal - bio-mech skull & bio-mech goat head half-sleeve.
When my wife was doing her tattoo apprenticeship I came down to the tat' shop one day with a couple print outs, I figured she could use a person to work on and I wanted to be supportive, especially since I had always been distant about letting her tat' me until she got exceptionally good. I brought down fair sized printings of Darkthrone and Carpathain Forest logo (CF round emblem), I thought it didn't really matter if she was inexperianced because the Darkthrone logo is already messy and doesn't require all that steady of a hand and, the CF logo was quite simplistic. Any thing she really screwed up would had been fixed by her teacher/shop owner but, she wouldn't go for it and, the shop owner wouldn't allow it because he could understand how my wife wouldn't want to look at her early work for the rest of her life - something he's done with his wife.

Last week my brother-in-law tattooed an Odin's Triple Horn symbol with some pretty cool shading effect on my left forearm. Tomorrow he's going to do a Viking shield with a sword behind it and 2 axes crossing that I drew up. Should be pretty sweet though.


Their not really metal related, but what's more metal than vikings? NOTHING!!!

I told my son, get anything but a girls name or a band name.
