I think it's quicker than ever this year! People are already bitching about Amorphis being nominated in Heavy Metal, instead of power/progressive/folk/donkeysodomy. We're off to a great start!

Actually the biotching is my favourite part of it all, together with weird write-ins (like I saw someone write in Blut Aus Nord in post-metal) And then of course we have March for further bitching concerning the winners.

Definitely Daggon. Listening to the black/death metal nominations' MySpace pages, I've already discovered four new bands I already really like.

This year I'm going to be objective and listen to each category, regardless of whether or not I normally listen to that genre. That being said, I'm only going to listen to the nominations for genres like that as opposed to digging for underground stuff. I'll do more digging (though there isn't much left) for the genres which require more time for me, like extreme doom and thrash.

I'm counting on the staff to deliver! Don't fail me!

Sweet! Even though I don't own to many 2009 albums...

The Extreme Doom section is looking mighty fine. I'm kind of disappointed with the Black and Death metal nominations, but hopefully that'll change after giving the releases a thorough listen through.

Some staff members liked it but more didn't. So due to our democratic process of nominating albums, it didn't get in. Feel free to vote for it in the write-in votes if you feel it was the best Thrash album of the year.

Sweet, I found out about Ghost Brigade thanks to the awards. To me, they sound like a mix of High on Fire and Katatonia... maybe a little bit of Baroness too

Sweet ^^ All categories look good besides the absence of Swallow the Sun in Doom Metal. Not sure why they weren't nominated... But thats what write-in votes are for!

OK now tell me: is kreator's worse than slayer??? is it the opinion of MS staffers? BECAUSE: i see a review of 8,8 for Hordes Of Chaos and a review of 7,7 for World Painted Blood. also Kreators album has a great higher rating from MS USERS. from US. i see this like staffers bitching with Kreator. like they did it on purpose. i mean it's obvious that kreators album is better than most nominated in thrash category. not only from me.

but i have to say this one thing i have on my mind: NOW AFTER THAT, SLAYER WILL WIN THE THRASH CATEGORY. BUT YOU KNOW THAT IF YOU'VE LET KREATOR IN, SLAYER WOULDN'T. come on it's obvious.

i am not attacking to anyone personaly but to this whole thing that happened.

Well I liked the album (and Slayer's wasn't too bad either) but again, not enough staff members liked it. The review was done by ONE PERSON. Jeff was in the minority of us who liked it but as I've said a few times now more of us disliked it. Reviews are based on ONE PERSON's opinion. If the whole staff were to contribute to the rating of every review, I'd imagine just about everything would get about a 7.

Yeah dude, we did it on purpose. Look out, it's a conspiracy! Hopefully we won't get found out! (don't tell anyone)

I will laugh at you if Slayer doesn't win. There's some pretty good competition in the Thrash category. Did you forget about for example...say...Megadeth? I've heard they're pretty popular.

Again, you can still vote for Kreator. If there's so many people that like it the most out off all the Thrash releases in 2009, as you say there are, it could still win through write-in votes.

i know that i can vote it in the write-in votes and i did. but you know that it's almost imposible when it's not in the nomination to win when megadeth and slayer are. and yes megadeth can also win but imo slayer will. also about the review: i know but when all the other nominations are that great why they dont have that great reviews??? i ddnt see a singe review with a higher than 8 rating..

It's just as possible for a write-in vote to win as it is for a nominated release. Each of them gets one point per person's vote. Well you'll have to wait another 27-odd days to find out won't you!

You say " i didn't see a single review with a higher than 8 rating" like all the other nominees have poor review ratings. Artillery and Slayer are the only nominees that actually have reviews for them! I don't see how your argument is all that valid
