I chose Death Growls, maybe because I prefer NORMAL death metal over other genres.

I can't stand shrieks. I also don't like thrash vocals from bands like Sodom and Kreator.

I voted for thrash because it has so much variety in terms of vocals, I would go for black metal vocals second.

Death growls, while I like them, can sound kind of boring. Especially Cannibal Corpse.

What I like about growls is that they sound different with every vocalist. Seems we have different opinions.(I really don't like black metal screeches nor thrash aggresive vocals. The latter are very devoid of emotion and skill. It's my opinion after all.)

I haven't really ventured into BM, but I have a general idea about thrash vocals. I really don't like them that much. I mean, I don't hate them, but I won't mind if they were replaced by some GROWLS!

I went for melodic -and part of that is actually because of Roy Khan

I pretty much just love all melodic &/or clean vocals.
Though I don't mind an add in of Symphonic vocals or death growls sometimes too.

Couldn't pick ONE cause i listen to pretty much all of them. Not a fan of pig squeals though. Also i don't think you can stick one particular vocal style to each genre. For example Aeternus and Thy Serpent- Black metal with a more growly vocal. Early Kreator and Sodom had an almost black metal scream to them. Death metal has a wide verity of vocal styles. You could also mix and match power metal and thrash vocals. And symphonic (i presume that means operatic) has been in varying genres a lot longer than the recent burst of bands like Within Temptation and such. Music for me is much more important than vocal style. As long as it works with the music why should it matter?!

The thing I meant with harsh vocals is the vocals used by most Extreme Power and Extreme Folk metal bands. Want to hear how they sound? Check out: Wintersun, Ensiferum, Kalmah, Children Of Bodom. Actually, those vocals are kind of high pitched like BM vocals, but there's a big difference between them.

My favourite vocal's style was perfomed by Ronnie James Dio (R.I.P.) and now such guys as Jorn Lande and Russel Allen carry on his tradition as well.

So it should be something average between melodic and clean vocals with a little bit of harsh, I'd say it's an overloaded vocal.

Meh, depends on the genre. Sometimes, clean vocals don't fit very well in music that focuses more on the instruments...
