Basically bands like Marduk, Lord Belial, Dissection (if you consider them black metal), Watain vs Immortal, Satyricon, Mayhem and Gorgoroth.

even though Norwegian brand is a classic, I personally choose Swedish bm, love their acoustic work.

LOL how can you compare it, Norge is much way overated how Sverige in BM, I dont deny Norge work, because there good bands out there, but also Swe has good bands who's not well know because come from Sverige, I wont give much names but Armauk, Magog now Evangelum from Swe ... there more more good bands, same quality sometimes even better , but somehow Norge get Nr 1 , I dont deny NBM; but its overated, because some good Nor bands also are in underground BTW so if this be poll I vote for Swe

Definitely Norwegian BM. Sweden's got some good bands but they really can't compare to the amazing Burzum and Darkthrone.

My favourite BM band is Emperor which is norwegian but overall I do prefer the swedish scene, Sacramentum, Dawn and Lord Belial, especially.

I thought they were meh. . . but then again I have absolutely no desire to like Dimmu Borgir in any way anymore. lol the day I start listening to modern Dimmu Borgir is the day I've given up on good music.

If I had to vote during the late 90's I would have voted for the norwegian scene but nowdays the swedish BM scene is getting some interesting new acts and the so called orthodox bm scene from sweden is pretty damn good.

Honestly I prefer Norwegian Black Metal most of the time but I also really love Swedish Black Metal. Honestly can't really compare them much imo, it all depends on what you want from your black metal. I have found the Norskes to be typically more about atmosphere and the Swedes are typically more about speed and ferocity. There are a few exceptions like Dissection is more about atmosphere then speed but for the most part the line between the Swedish and Norwegian scenes I have found to be different enough that I will listen to either or depending on my mood. If I want my black metal to be focused more on building an atmosphere around the music or if I just want straight up viciously fast black metal.

Generally speaking, I would say you have a point there. However, the most important exception has to be Bathory, which nobody's mentioned on this thread yet. Bathory (from Sweden, of course) was incredibly influential on what we know as Black Metal in this day and age, and really it still doesn't get much better than 'Under the Sign of the Black Mark' IMO.

See my point?

That you don't know many bands? Yep

Sweden: Bathory, Watain, Ondskapt, Sacramentum, Silencer, Skogen, Nasheim, Hypothermia, Ofermod (old stuff), Svartsyn, Diabolical Masquerade, Mörk Gryning, Funeral Mist, Triumphator, Algaion (first album at least). Off the top of my head. Sweden's hardly the best place for the genre but there's certainly more than two good bands from there.
