Tarja Turunen - New Musical Group

The singer has announced her participation in a new project named Harus.

Here is the official statement from her official website:

"There is an old Finnish tradition when it comes to newborns - the baby is not to be named until the baptism ceremony, when he or she is presented to the family with the chosen name.
A few years ago, in 2006, a new project from Tarja was born and, following the same tradition, the time has come to baptize it, to make the presentations to the family and to give it a name - Harus.

Harus is a rather peculiar, uncommon Finnish word that describes the four tensors that keep a tent together or the tensor that keeps the mast from falling in a sailing boat.

Both of the meanings apply to this musicians line up: four members, four equals, four different backgrounds to tie together exquisite classical music developed strongly and in a very stable way, with a taste of experimental, modern feel.

The ever-changing waters Harus sails on promise a unique feeling and combination for each program.

Harus are:

Tarja Turunen: Vocals
Kalevi Kiviniemi: Organ
Marzi Nyman: Guitar
Markku Krohn: Percussion

Let's give Harus a warm welcome and expect further news very soon!"

The "classical music" and "modern feel" things are quite subtle ways to say "right guys, here comes Nightwish 2.0".

Looking forward to listening to it...:P

Actually I don't expect anything metal from this, which isn't a bad thing after all, we don't need another female-fronted-symphonic-superepic-omgitstarja group, that's been done too many times already.. but I fear I might be wrong.

Does that mean, she stops her solo project? Or it's just a second band

I think this actually sounds interesting. I'm not a very big fan of Nightwish, nor of Tarja, but I think she's gonna be the 'winner' of their break-up in the end. This is, maybe, one of the ways she's gonna do it... 'cause none of the old fans hate her by now (unlike at least half of the old Nightwish fans) and this may be an attempt to cater a bit better to all of their tastes. She realizes her audience has evolved, unlike Tuomas, who still writes about his poor old poet self and the 'suffering' he endures. Not just writing, he's making a goddamned movie about it.

Do some thrash metal

Tarja should do a operatic cover of Darkness Descends.

Interesting indeed.

Let's just hope that Cabuli doesn't spoil it all nor Tarja tries to take up all the space in the "project". =.=

Eager to listen to something...

Don't really see the point of this. Its just giving her solo band a name. Will be the same inferior Nightwish wannabe.

I don't think so. It doesn't seem it will be metal as her solo stuff.
