Not sure what topic I was supposed to post this in so apologies if it's in the wrong topic.

Anyway I bought an album but as soon as it take price sticker off the CD get that sticky paste stuck on it. I tried to put a bit of water and clean it off with a metal scourer but its just made it worse.

Anyone know any good ways to clean off the sticky paste.

We've got label remover at work. It removes labels from about everything without stains.
I'll look for the name of it but I'm not at work 'till tuesday.

I believe the title of the thread refers to the jewelcases... but Guib missunderstood (and rightly so) the title and thought the thread was talking about the plastic that sometimes wraps around new cds.

digpacks and vinyl covers

Urgh, now I remember that awful sticker on the digipak version I have of Casus Luciferi. I was able to take it off but it took a bit (very tiny but still annoying) part of the corner. I guess I'm fine with stickers on the jewelcases with the worst case scenario being that you just get a new one... But it blows my mind how they put stickers on digipaks instead of the plastic that wraps around the digipak.

what is even more annoying is when you have those age warnings on digipacks (in Germany on a lot of cd's) which aren't stickers but are part of the packing, saying "for 18 years and older"

Happy to say that I don't have any of that bullshit... yet. Well, I have a very small german warning on the back of the some Radiohead boxes I own but they are pretty tiny so I didn't know they were there until a few weeks ago.

God the worst is when CD's have that sticker that goes all the way across the top... It is useful for about 2 seconds at the store when you're looking through the CDs but if you're in the right band name anyways you'll find anything you need quickly... They have a tendency to leave a sticky stripe across the top of CD's

Word. Gets all sticky and irritates me quite a bit. I usually change those jewel cases for others that are "clean" and I'm sure I won't be using much

I've seen many Relapse cds wih that sticker on top... if you do it right you can actually take it off without fucking it up (too much).

For those ones I find the best is the continually move your finger along and keep it close to the point where it's peeling off, but I have gotten them off 100% intact and in a single general motion....

Don't know if followed your explanation but it seems pretty close to what I do and it's definitely not impossible to do it and leave no traces at all.

Well I got a binder filled with cds I fit the booklets with the cds aswell, I can fit 300 in there along with their booklets, and I store all the other papers that were in the jewel case in there too ... lol so everything's at the same spot. I hate jewelcases it takes space, I don't know where to store those... and they are easy to break. Eventually I'll have to buy a new binder though.

This has worked for me every single time. After you take the plastic wrap off, open the case at the bottom corner, then unhinge the case at the other bottom corner. Now the case will only be held together by the top seal sticker and at this point it's pretty easy to peel the sticker off.

Huh, well... tastes differ. I preffer to have it like that. The idea of taking everything out and having the cds in binders feels awkward to me and not particularly pretty.

Best suff ever for that. Goo-Gone is the only thing that I've found works well for removing stickers, labels, or any other adhesive-based thing. Great product.
