So, there's always the question of what is the best metal album ever! But still there are many EP's like Emperor's "Emperor" or the new Entombed that leave you like this so i always wondered what is the best EP of all time

Detrimentum - A Monument to the suffering
fantastic cd. Brutal death metal with a black metal/doom type atmosphere. really heavy, bassy, overwhelming sound.

The Emperor EP
or Le Secret from Alcest, they are both amazing.

Ok it ownt be long post from me but I cant think now but there are some EP what means alot of to me, but just now I cant think Anathema - ''Seranades''
I realy love this ep, great dom metal and I love song where thay use female vocals isnt it amazing

For me it would be Slayer - Haunting the Chapel with songs like Chemical Warfare and Captor of Sin it is one of the best thrash ep's out there. It has good drumming and sick riffing and great solos. Chemical Warfare is one of the best Slayer songs ever recorded.

"Through Chasms, Caves and Titan Woods" by Carpathian Forest. I really wish they continued to make music in this less tongue in cheek style. This EP contains all of the best Carpathian Forest songs.

I'd say Alcest 'Le Secret' here. Incredible stuff.

as a Carpathian forest fan I am ashamed to say that, this EP is the only thing I have not heard from them yet (excluding random demo stuff). I have to check that out immediatly..

Uhmm, i like Within Temptation's 'The Dance' and Rhapsody's 'Rain Of A Thousand Flames' and also Ensiferum's 'Dragonheads'. All are great

Hmm, I think it would have to be Celtic Frost's Emperor's Return. Also, Behemoth's And The Forests Dream Eternally was very good also. Rage's Beyond The Wall is also another favourite. I won't go into detail about each, but they're just a few EP's off the top of me head that I think are really good. I'm not one that buys too many EP's anyway.

If we talk about Emperor I realy love Emperor early EP like
''Emperor'' even cover are so mistic and song ''Kosmic Keys To My Creatures And Times'' was one of firts who take me into BM
'' As The Shadows Rise'' are good EP, but I like only album cover, musiv well its good but not so good how in first EP and album ''In the Nightside Eclipse''
''Reverence'' are so great I like this albumk cover and music it can criate so good atmosfere and ist easyer to pass long and lonly winter days realy good EP man

Mercyful Fate - Mercyful Fate is to me by far the best ep ever.

For me it is only a good ep if it covers ORIGINAL songs that aren't on any full-length album to start of with.

To me it's a good EP. They've made great variants of the old songs (and also a cover of 'Into Hiding'). And the new song 'Dragonheads' is really a head-banging song. 'Finnish Medley' is another good folk-music song by Ensiferum ( the 3 folk songs used in this song are really nice). So, that's the reason why I love this EP

Black Crucifixion - The Fallen One Of Flames. I can't think of enough words to praise this EP. Simply, I think it's superb.

Deströyer 666 - "Terror Abraxas"

this shit is flawless... ok, the cover is not that good as another original could had been, but the rest is perfect is perfect black/thrash. D666 are one of those few bands that seem unable to do something wrong.

Where Dreams Turns To Dust by Forest Of Shadows. So beautiful and melancholic.

Godflesh - "Merciless" or Jesu - "Silver"

Both have four songs, last 20 minutes, and are fantastic. THey may or may not meet Marcel's qualifier regarding appearing on other albums. The track 'Flowers' on "Merciless" takes a riff found in 'Don't Bring Me Flowers' on the "Pure" album - and twists it around and loops it into a completely new track with only a lingering hint of the original.

special attention to songs: "Queen of Winter, Throned" and "The Rape and Ruin of Angels (Hosannas in Extremis)"

Emperor's Emperor, one ond only, generally I don't like this kind of releases but this one is cult

Dearly Beheaded - In A Darkened Room A masterpiece of groovy thrash metal, no need to say anymore
Forsaken - Iconoclast Even if only for one of the best doom songs ever IMO, i.e. Via Crucis. This song would turn any crappy album into a must-have
Entombed - When In Sodom Entombed going back to death metal roots and doing it admirably
Forest Of Shadows - Where Dreams Turn To Dust
Deathspell Omega - Kénôse
Bloodbath - Breeding Death Much better than anything else they've done so far. And yet I love their albums.
Dark Tranquillity - Of Chaos And Eternal Night The perfect bridge between the lyrism of Skydancer and the straightforwardness of The Gallery
Nevermore - In Memory Definitely as great as the rest of their discography.

I see quite a few people mention Deathspell Omgea - Kenose. I know they and everyone else calls it an e.p. but I have problems with calling as such since it is 36 minutes long and thus 7 minutes longer than Slayer's full length Reign In Blood buit then again Revenrend Bizarre have an e.p. of 70+ minutes.
