Original news, published on 07.07.2014: Gojira will head into the studio to record their sixth album after a winter tour with Mastodon. Full details of the tour have yet to be announced, but it is set to kick off in October. The French metallers last record was 2012's L'Enfant Sauvage. The band is still working on new songs and plans to release the new album next year, according to vocalist/guitarist Joe Duplantier.

After their performance at Sonisphere Festival UK, Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier told TeamRock Radio: "We are working on new songs these days, between tours and sometimes on tour. We can't wait to record a new album.

"So we still have a few shows to play then we are going to tour with Mastodon later this year, in October. But after that we are going straight into the studio and we want to release an album next year."

If it is to give birth to another Enfant Sauvage, they should rapidly resort to an abortion before the legal limit.

Glad to see they will be back on tour with Mastodon. The one earlier this year with Kvelertak was a blast, can't wait for the part II.

They should make a second Terra Incognita and then re-release Terra Incognita as well. I can't find that album anywhere.

There is a great one sentence review of that album in there.

Since I know the band is really into the "human nature" theme, L'Enfant Sauvage seemed to reflect a whole lot of sensitivity. If we are lucky, the new album will characterize a droning sense of apathy. Might even use a drum machine, cus fuck it. Making good music is way too hard.

Thank you.
Ironically L'Enfant Sauvage wasn't wild at all. Maybe if they called it L'Enfant Autiste or L'Enfant Franchement Très Apathique we'd get something worth our while.

Regardless of my enjoyment of at least some of the album, I agree. I think a big part of the album sounding so tame and wimpy probably has something to do with them signing onto Roadrunner Records. And I think all of those album names sound like AOTY material to me. Although, I think L'Enfant Autiste is already what the more recent Opeth albums are released under in France. It's like a box set or something. Something like that. I can't remember.

I tried to like Gojira, theoretically their genre should be perfect for me but I found From Mars to Sirius largely boring and underwhelming and their last album was pretty bad so I think I'll throw in the towel on these guys and not check this new album out

It is possible. It sounded safe and easy, lacked the Backbone you could find in the song bearing that title in From Mars To Sirius. But you know, [insert platitude about success].

Haha. I would love an album titled L'Enfant Un Peu Inadapté Qui Essaye De S'Intégrer Au Groupe Mais Qui A Du Mal A Communiquer Avec Des Vrais Mots Parce Qu'Il Est Un Peu Débile to win the MS Awards next year. I'll definitely mail the suggested title to Gojira myself, just to see it happen.

I fortunately never had to listen to the latest Opeth releases, being not a fan of what they do in general. But I did see stickers on the CDs at the store bearing the mention "Recommandé pour les enfants sourds".

Gojira bored me last record as well but as long as they avoid those tracks on tour I'll be OK with them. They need to just watch The Cove again and write some really pissed off shit with vengeful lyrics.

I can't see how they can avoid playing tracks from their latest album on tour. I'm sorry to disappoint, but you'll hear them if you're going to see them soon.

I'll prob go anyway since I doubt the show will be an abortion... a Mastodon/Gojira tour this fall should be worthwhile.
