Many of you are already familiar with the awesome progressive power metal of Danish Pyramaze. Yet, others among you may only know them as the band that Matt Barlow joined after his post-Iced Earth absence from metal, only to leave after recording one album, re-join Iced Earth, then quit again. Nonetheless, Pyramaze was great before and they're still pretty damn great. This Disciples Of The Sun, seven years since their last record, is easily their best yet.

Very good! Hansen definitely brought some Anubis Gate vibe with him.

Nope, don't like it. I was really hoping to hear something like their early albums, but that time is long gone. It sounds like a completely different band now, and unfortunately doesn't have that something for me. Ah well, moving on.

Therapy?
Is it just me or does anyone else have a bit of a Mercenary-ish feeling to this album? At least some of the songs such as The Battle Of Paridas and Genetic Process

Fearless, favorite track of the album. Very motivating. Good track to run or exercise to oddly. Also glad to see Hansen's style influence on Pyramaze.

Perfectly Imperfect could have been a track from Anubis Gate =P

Currently my favourite power metal album from 2015

Anyone else underwhelmed? I would instantly rather put on LOTBC than listen to any of these tracks, honestly. Even Immortal tops this.

Had this one on in the car over the past couple of days and whilst I certainly like it, at first I had to do a double take because it just sounds like a slightly more melodic Anubis Gate album, a thousand miles away from the initial incarnation under Lance King and indeed quite different from Immortal. Really isn't the same band at all, and I'm not sure why they just didn't ditch Pyramaze and start again...

First gig was Manowar (loincloths 'n' all), Bristol Colston Hall in March 1983, on the 'Hail to England' tour. Tickets were £3.75, 300 in the audience, Mercyful Fate never showed, but my hearing still got seriously trashed..

When Kammeyer left it was pretty obvious Pyramaze would become something different. As stated above it leans heavy towards Anubis Gate and leaves behind much of the classic power metal elements. Huge dissapointment when it was released, the singer sounds flat and the songs are for most part kind of dull. Now 5 years later I find it more enjoyable but not by much. It's still lacks the real highlights and the songs are kind of depressing. A weak 6 I would say.

Well, that post was from 4 years ago. I've listened to their older albums since then, and sadly I don't find them to be very enjoyable. I really enjoy their newest three, however.

Yea I guess there are different tastes out there which is totally fine. I can't seem to enjoy the last 3, most of the songs sound the same and are not interesting.

It's all a matter of taste - the newest three sound like a completely different band compared to the first three. I personally find them to be very melodic, memorable, and uplifting (great gym music), and the production is very clean, too.
